Ultimate Review 2: The Mosaic Strikes Back
alexrider7 replied to alexrider7's topic in Special LEGO Themes
like I said, very hard to come by! alexrider7 -
Ok. The second in my review series. lets do this mosaic. It is odd and rare, and was given to me a couple years ago by a freind. He knew i was obssessive with Johnny Thunder at the time. The reason I say its odd and rare because a) I have never seen any pics of it on eurobricks b) I searched on brickshelf and it gave me random, obscure pics of Lego Ziggy Marleys. and c) well, thats it. I had to take it down from my wall to review it. Here we go! INSTRUCTIONS: So, in stead of an instruction manual, we get some cooky thing. It freaks me out. It freaked me out when I first got it also. I zeroxed it like ten times so i wouldn't lose it. Anyways, the cooky thing is a bunch of numbers. I had my nephew build it with me, hes like, fifteen. I hope he grows up to like legos like I do. So anyways, the numbers are one through five. There is a little key at the bottom that says one=black two=grey three=white four=light grey five=dark grey It is hard to distinguish between regular grey and light grey though. I messed up three or four times. So anyways, they also had a translator at the bottom so we had some fun and called them by their german names. Here it is. If you look closely, you will see the outline of Johnny Thunder. Really cool now, Box: dissapointing. Just, dissapointing. No picture of Johnny Thunder on the box, thats insane! Its just a cluster of random *black and white bricks flying around. Really, no joke. Here it is, with Banana Pike to scale. *(ADD SOME COLER LEGO! GEEZ!!!) Build The build. It is, well easy. Other than the fact that you can't tell between light grey and just plain grey. Anyways, here are the pictures of the finished product. 1) With Banana Pike 2) Full, with no Banana Pike It came with A LOT of extra peices. Almost enough to make another small mosaic. Now, the review Display: 10/10 Awesome, sturdy, to the point. Build: 9/10 A bit confusing, but thats ok. Return next time for: Return of the Lego Street alexrider7

Ok... lets start with the Taj Mahal. It has three instruction manuals. yes. only three. let me start out to say that the Mobile Command Center has four so wouldn't it make sense to... you know... add some more!!! But anyways, first the box. Pretty Genaric. I put my avatar (Banana Pike) to scale. Inside, there were three sliding cartons that came out with tons of bags and 6 blue baseplates for (you guessed it!) the base. Now, I forgot to take pictures while I was building it... But, I did take pictures afterwords. The Taj and all its glory. Pretty cool. With a confuusin build. Very confuusin. Now, the base. It is awesome. It is very colerful on the inside! But this is really cool because once you enter the second stage of the build, its only white, baise and light blue. It. Gets. Boring. Here are the ends. Made of the little hinges. I thought they would use the stuff that fits on the tile, but it was TLC's idea to make this confuusin. Anyways, here are the corners. The front. (Sorry, a bit blurry. Ok, a lot blurry.) Now. Next, we have the middle. As I said before, it was confuusin and repetitive. You have to build four of the same thing over, and over, and over again. It sucks. The Dome! The most fun part of the set. It is awesome. Here, we have a marrage of pictures of Banana Pike and the Dome. Enjoy!!! Ok, thats it for the Taj. Overall: Minifigs: 2/10 You may be thinking, what! But, it came with a barrage of blank white and yellow minifig heads. Pretty cool if I may take this part some day and moc with it. That won't happen. The Build: 8/10 Fun, but very repetitive. Took me two days to finish! Displaying: 10/10 I've put it in my office, and it always grabs questions from people walking by like: how long did that take you to build? and how long have you been a fan of Lego? Its fun answering. GOOD SET. But, now the Tower. Also, three instruction booklets. They are all very good. Great! i mean. Now, there is the base. FLIMSY! It kept falling apart during building. It was crud. Now, the picture with an elevator. The middle is self explanitory. It is so easy to build. Now, the top. Ok, and the comparison with Banana Pike!!! and the rest. The Build: 6/10 Flimsy, flimsy, flimsy!!! You can do better than this TLC!!! Display: 9/10 It is a little big. While I was transporting it to my office, the base fell apart in the car. It is in my office right now displayed. Wow. A long night of reviewing! Check back in a couple days for Ultimate Review 2: The Green Grocer, Market Street and Cafe Corner strike back! alexrider7

I think its basiccly (spelling?) perfect. I'm getting the new death star (shipping!) soon. Just wondering, I'm making a dark knight two face of my own, (completed) and I have dark grey minifig hands. I was wondering where you got the light grey minifig hands. THANKS! alexrider7
-
thanks! I'm thinking about adding more add ons because you could put one in the back also next to the tractor beam controls... also, i could make a lot of add ons and make it so you could change them to make a different death star every time!!!
-
ok... this is my death star moc featuring the force unleashed add on. (spoilers.) here!
