Anybody know the creator of this wonderful little engine? It is in a brickshelf folder belonging to "sorcerous-simon" - I would love to see more pictures of this MOC. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=4104933 -- Bryan

My local LEGO store, in King of Prussia PA, is always very clean, neat and tidy. My TRUs - not so much. I can only imagine the mess that a TRU PAB area would create....

Do some of those boxes really read "Constraction Figure" ? Ugh.

Has anyone tried to preserve the TLC stickers?
BryanKinkel replied to Captain Green Hair's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Sorry - no such luck. My scans are mainly trains & town. -- Bryan -
Has anyone tried to preserve the TLC stickers?
BryanKinkel replied to Captain Green Hair's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I actually scan the stickers at 300 DPI and save them as a TIFF file. I use a file naming system of XXXX-set_name.tiff where XXXX is the set number. I then print the stickers on Avery whole sheet clear sticker paper. I use an HP photo printer at the highest quality setting. The reproduction stickers look pretty good. There is a problem when the sticker contains a lot of white. Most ink jet printers print using a variety of tri-color ink cartridges and cannot print the color "white". So white areas on the sticker end up being clear when printed on transparent sticker paper. But this allows me to save the original stickers and print new ones when needed. -- Bryan -

So has anyone tried to power this with a standard 9V engine yet? I would enjoy seeing some pictures. -- Bryan- 559 replies

Exclusive Train 10194 Emerald Night (Exclusive 2009)
BryanKinkel replied to der seb's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Do the instructions include steps for adding a traditional 9V train motor to the tender? Even if they don't, I'm sure it is trivial to add. Just curious.- 559 replies

Exclusive Train 10194 Emerald Night (Exclusive 2009)
BryanKinkel replied to der seb's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I bet producing a classic train door in tan and brown was cost-prohibitive. And the brick build door is a good work around. I would rather have a new train with brick built doors instead of no train!- 559 replies

What would be nice is if they put the parts for the passenger wagon in the online PAB.- 559 replies

...must have missed that post - what do we know about this exclusive train? I know that AFOLs really want that monorail - I purchased an Airport Shuttle a few years back for over $400. But with the two communications from LEGO about the train system, I doubt they would issue a monorail and call it "train." I think we will be getting a new trains system with proper trains. And I would love to have them be European style. Even though I'm American (Philadelphia!) - I really like the European trains. I've been looking at Marklin & Vollmer catalogs lately for inspiration. It was that old 1980 12V Train catalog that got me started on this whole thing... Of course I'm sure everyone would love to see both a train system and monorail. Bring it! -- Bryan

Bah! Thought it was something else... Thanks.

In the picture with the two Space Police Impulse sets, there is an unnumbered CITY set below. Anyone have any idea what this is?

Brickmaster sets for May and September
BryanKinkel replied to Deinonychus's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I just got my first Brickmaster set on Saturday. It was the City Fireman 4x4 20002 set. According to Brickset, the schedule is as follows: March 08 20002 City 4x4 Firetruck http://www.brickset.com/detail.aspx?Set=20002-1 May 08 20003 Creator Dinosaur http://www.brickset.com/detail.aspx?Set=20003-1 July 08 20004 Indy's Jungle Cruiser http://www.brickset.com/detail.aspx?Set=20004-1 September 08 20005 Unknown Bionicle http://www.brickset.com/detail.aspx?Set=20005-1 So those graphics are very likely old. -- Bryan -
Nevertheless, I love the models & boxes. I would like to make my own boxes if the templates were available.
-
I saw those boxes over the weekend as well. I get a couple of mailing supply catalogs that have a variety of shipping boxes. I have often considered getting a few of them to store away my "never take apart" engines and cars. Yellow LEGOLAND boxes would be icing on the cake. But those models are top notch. I prefer European style engines & rolling stock. Does anyone know the designer? I would enjoy seeing instructions for these models. And PSD/PDF templates for the imitation boxes. Excellent work, Namo. -- Bryan

10190 A new LEGO Factory Exclusive!

I suspect because it is designed by a LEGO enthusist rather than an official LEGO employee. Factory = fan designed Everything else = LEGO designers Of course, I may be totally wrong. -- Bryan -
10190 A new LEGO Factory Exclusive!
BryanKinkel replied to legomilk's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Wow! These sets are starting to really pile up. I have the Ultimate Train Builder's box on my birthday list. And I would love the Cafe Corner and this new modular house as well. But it is starting to get a bit pricey! -- Bryan -
And so is the set. At least it seems small. The picture does not really give much away. But it looks like a very small Hogwarts (compared to older Hogwarts sets). -- Bryan

Nevertheless, this is the first time in many years that LEGO has produced a modern line resembling the classic product lineup of town / space / castle / technic / basic. It is encouraging to see, even if one of the lines is not quite there (space). -- Bryan

Not only that, I think they needed to change the arms to make them more sturdy. My kids love the skeletons. But the arms always coming off. When there are skeleton arms scattered across the LEGO table, I know my daughters were playing! -- Bryan

The first hi-resolution page of new City material went up over at the 1000steine Gallery. Same products as the Brickshelf account, but easier on the eyes. http://festum.de/1000steine/myimages/1-2007-01 I really like the grand layouts and photography LEGO is using for the catalog. Very lush. -- Bryan
