Hah! That's incredible. Definitely gave me my first big smile of the day!

Looking good. It's nice to finally see what I assume are the completely finalised sets. Thanks for posting them.

I didn't even notice the depiction of powers in the second last pic until I had a second look. Mr Fantastic and Invisible Woman's in particular are really cool.

Scrolling down to the second shot and seeing the car splits into four brought a big grin to my face. Galactus is pretty impressive as well. Great stuff.

T-^ Jedi Shuttle has been added to the handful of sets 50% off at Debenhams: http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10001_10001_171010416599_-1?breadcrumb=Home~Sale~Gifts+%26amp%3B+toys~Toys+%26amp%3B+games Half price is pretty damn rare for Star Wars sets, I can't see it lasting long.

Debenhams have a couple of sets at half price including the City Marina for £21 which seems like a great deal (cheaper than I've ever seen it on Amazon). I'm going to have to pass as I've spent way too much this month.... probably... maybe I'll give in. Currently in stock but I'd be quick: http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10001_10001_171010542499_-1?breadcrumb=Home~Sale~Gifts+%26amp%3B+toys~Toys+%26amp%3B+games They also have Cars 2 Spy Jet Escape at half price and a couple of other 25% off or so. That Marina is tempting though.... Must resist urge to buy...

Etiquette for reposting MOCs/Customs on blogs and news sites
Ash replied to Ash's topic in Forum Information and Help
Thanks Siegfried. I'll use that as a guide. -
Cursed Cobra Statue's turn to be 50% off at Amazon today (price match with Tesco's Direct I think). I've bought every Pharoah's Quest set except the big pyramid in the last couple of weeks. I love half price Lego Oh hey, Rescue Robot half price as well. Hooray for a cheap light brick!

When someone posts an amazing MOC or custom figure you'll often see it featuring on loads of Lego (or general geek) blogs, usually with an image or two. Is there any particular etiquette for this? I think it's fairly safe to assume that if things are poperly credited and there's some kind of link to the source most creative types welcome the exposure and attention. In general is it OK to just go ahead and feature one of these creations in a blog post... or should you ask for permission soon. In the past I've always asked for permission, but I'm not sure if that's nescesarry. I might be asking something really obvious here, but hey, there's no such thing as a stupid question... right? right? If this is covered in a FAQ or something somewhere feel free to point me in the right direction.

When I saw the subject I wasn't expecting much. An amazing building that I didn't really think would work well, especially in microscale. But you've done an amazing job. Really, really impressive and right up there with the retail sets in my opinion.

My favourite as a child: I got a bit misty eyed trying to find a picture of it. I had a few little space sets but this, for me, was just the most awesome thing. As much as I coveted the larger sets I knew we couldn't afford them and getting this for a birthday was a huge luxury. I ended up getting the single man ship and a couple of moonbase sets as well. A guy I knew up the road got the Galaxy Explorer (the big spaceship) and he had no interest in building it so let me do it. So that was pretty sweet. The first years or two of the space range were pretty much the beginning of my dark ages as well. I can't remember any sets I got after that. Since I started up again I think my favourite has been this guy: It was a fun build and is a nice sturdy set with lots of playability. My son loves it.

When I saw the thread subject I thought this would be a perfect match for that 50's Australian St MOC... but it turns out the scale is a little off ;) That's an epic model of an iconic car. Great stuff.

I kind of promised myself I'd take it easy on complimenting these for a while in case I was going a bit overboard. Then you had to go and ruin it all by doing Logan's Run, a film I have really fond memories of (and not just because of certain Jenny Aggatur scenes). The costumes are fantastic, hair and faces spot on as well. The only criticism I have is that I think they're missing something from their hands. :)

I got excited for a minute... but any colour except pink! Those bricks aren't the best storage option, but they're fun for kids and look good. I've picked up a few on special here and there. At full price they're crazy expensive. Picked up Flying Mummy Attack (44% off) and another Golden Staff Guardians (still 50%) off at Amazon. They're still at that price, it's the cheapest I've seen Flying Mummy attack. Not the best sets, but fun minifigures and accessories.

Well I guess you'll be able to tell us for sure in a couple of weeks! One thing that was interesting is that I found the small print for an old promotion that said it excluded "back orders and pre-orders". The current one just says "back orders".

I didn't realise these things were so similar. I've only been to our local one in Manchester, UK and the layout is pretty much identical. In my opinion the whole experience is very, very underwhelming to say the least, but it's worth visiting once to see the small mini-land. That said the kid and I do have a season pass because it's so close, he loves the movies and it's always an option on a rainy day. Well.... I tell his mum that's the reason, but actually it's because of the 10% discount at the Lego Shop. We don't have any exclusive exclusives at ours, but they have a good selection including some hard to find and expensive sets that are rarely discounted online. They get some of the seasonal sets and polybags as well. One thing that's a bit annoying is that it is "LEGO Shop" (and a good one) but it is not actually a "LEGO Store" and as such doesn't get any of the "LEGO Store" events and promotions. I didn't go to the opening, but they sometimes have promotional bricks for events. They're the size of two 4X2 bricks on top of each other with something to do with the event printed on the side. Some examples here: http://allaboutbricks.blogspot.com/2011/11/promotional-lego-bricks-at-legoland.html

Are you sure? I couldn't see it anywhere in the fine print. If I add the Quinjet to my basket it still shows double points and free shipping. Not going to test it out though because I don't actually want it! ;)
-
Haha. Snake is awesome. The costume is spot-on. The face as well obviously. But I think it's the hair that really makes it perfect.
-
I think that might be a bit much. There are a lot of themes. I don't know the policy on promoting our own sites so I'll message you something might help. For the big technic sets it's worth keeping an eye on other european Amazons as well. They can have better discounts that sometimes offset postage costs.
-
This is my new favourite thread! Especially because it's actually a "classic" movie and not just a popular one from a few years back. The figure is spot on. Can't wait to see the rest.... unless one of them is Zardoz... that I could probably do without.
-
Creator T-Rex is 30% off on Amazon.... so I bought my first Creator set! Seems like a nice set for under a tenner and I think it's the cheapest it's been. Although speaking of Dinosaurs the Tower Takedown set is half-price on the Italian Amazon. Unfortunately once you factor in postage it works out about the same is it is to buy it in the UK :( Oh and Marvel stuff is in the Lego Store for pre-order. I'm assuming you still get the current bonuses (double points and free shipping) if you pre-order? Could be worth doing if you're planning on getting any of these straight off.

How can retailers offer cheaper Lego than Lego themselves?
Ash replied to mobi's topic in General LEGO Discussion
You'll see similar discounts on dozens of products if you walk around your average supermarket. At the end of the day Lego is no different. The higher discounts are usually end-of-line stuff that they are probably dumping at close to cost just to get rid of it. Even the Lego Store does that, they have some Atlantis stuff at 50% off at the moment. -
How can retailers offer cheaper Lego than Lego themselves?
Ash replied to mobi's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The Lego Stores will still be a seperate financial entity despite being part of the same group of companies. They'll still have to "buy" Lego from the group and then sell it to make a profit. If they didn't make a profit they wouldn't bother (many manufacturers don't). Official retailers are usually more expensive than other stores for a number of reasons. A few are: Official stores set the bar in terms of pricing (RRP or MRSP depending where you're from) and this forms part of the percieved value of the product. Lowering the price at the official store lowers the percieved value of the product. There maybe legal ramifications related to unfair business practices if Lego (the manufacturer) offers preferential treatment to their own shops. I'm not certain if this applies in this case though. But the biggest one is probably the fact that if they chose to consistantly undercut other retailers they'd really really tick them off and no manufacuter wants to do that. -
Fantastic! Love everything about it. The new brick pieces look really nice used this way.

Keep in mind, and it's been said several times in the thread already, the sets on display at the toy shows may not be finalised yet so. Of course if your excited about what you see this can only be good news, because either you're getting what you see or they're place holders for something new and cool :D
