  1. Hi, I'm pretty new so go easy on me for my first new topic in this forum! *sweet* I'm a town builder who wants to have all the realistic life essentials in my town such as a library, a school, and a church. I bought the 5378 Hogwart's castle on sale with the hopes of turning it into a church but I am kind of a novice builder and am struggling with inspiration. I searched on brickshelf and found some really beautiful churches but none that were derived from hogwarts castle sets. I don't have the money to buy endless sets to accumulate enough bricks to create the spectacular all-white cathedrals I've seen on brickshelf, and I was really hoping to just adapt one set or possibly combine two. Has anyone does this? Does anyone have a "Hogwarts Church" in their town that they're proud of and that they could show off? I think I could build a decent one but I'm just not sure where to start. Thanks so much!
  2. I voted 80s but I also agree that it is the period 1985-1995 that was the best ever, especially for town fans. Great train station, the best hospital, the best airport!
  3. I *wub* the beach house! Think it's a pretty good price for the bricks
  4. A big box full of 9v track and switchers for my train from S@H! Way more than I can fit in my town for now but hopefully I'll now have enough for future city growth in case Lego discontinues 9v (which I've read here they are.) Saw the new Indy sets at TRU but am trying to save up for Town Plan ...
  5. I think this is madness: http://cgi.ebay.com/Professional-Lego-Asse...1QQcmdZViewItem Who would pay someone else for all the fun?? :-D

Dang it, I meant to try to get one of these after Christmas ... I knew they were half-off at S@H and I just forgot. Now they're sold out. Darn! Thanks for the review!
  7. Everyone is so friendly, thanks for making me feel welcome!! Veers, to answer your question I am a health and medical reporter for a television network so I tried to create my red-haired self interviewing a doctor. I found you can't do a minifig head turn with the "Hermione" hair! (Gee, in my day you had black ponytails and red ponytails and that was it!!! Now the possibilities are so extensive.) While I have the experts peeking in on this post, I did a search for a FAQ and didn't come up with much. Just what does "MOC" stand for? And does "juniorization" mean the scale is too small or that the parts are too un-brick-like? I can't quite tell from the context.... Thanks for helping out a newbie AFOL!!! (I figured out that one already!)
  8. Hi everyone, I've been lurking and enjoying the forum for weeks and thought I would finally join! I'm interested in re-assembling my old town theme legos from the 80s and 90s into a new town with a train and I've been so inspired by all the ideas I've uncovered here! I can't wait to build my city and show it off and perhaps get some tips from the experts. I'm having trouble finding ideas for town/city layouts ... I guess I'm also frustrated because while I've found and dusted off all my own legos, I can't find any of my road baseplates! Grrr! It's hard to design a town without roads! Anyway, hello and Merry Christmas +1!
