  1. for your consideration: description at youtube.
  2. well, aside from adding immeasurable kitsch value to my home, they'd be handy in affixing A+ school papers to where everyone could admire them. seems a silly idea until you find yourself without one. you know, i was wondering if these comments would go unnoticed. the thread had strayed a bit, so i thought i'd apply a little kidding-on-the-square. 3. they have the look of brushed aluminum. KEvron
  4. i believe the tires for Off-Roader, #8466, are the same as the puller tires, just without the markings. regardless, they're fetching the same price, more or less, as the puller's. KEvron
  5. give that man a kewpie doll! KEvron
  6. what has been implied?! i certainly wasn't refering to the moc in question as ugly, merely the element. hmmm.... big ugly technic thingy.... hmmmm.... KEvron
  7. a splendid application for this unconventional element. forum, is there a word, akin to BURP, which is used to describe such a big ugly technic thingy? heh. KEvron
  8. in the early days of technic, that was the only style of 1/2-bush offered. as the line progressed, various elements which meshed with the 1/2-bush flange were added to the catalog. in fact, the smooth 1/2-bush wasn't introduced until the early 90's. KEvron
  9. it can be done with an nxt brick and two touch sensors, but that's a pricey solution. a simple dual-switch, 3-way cuircuit harness shouldn't cost more than $8 - $10. add the motor and the battery box, and the whole thing should come in for around $25 - $30. KEvron
  10. lego used to produce elements which interlocked with those teeth: , etc. imo, they never fully developed the possibilities for this flange, and now it's gone the way of the dodo. KEvron
  11. "any solutions?" buy more. heh. yeah, i've had dozens of both 1/2 and full bushes, and in all colors old and new, fail on me. eventually, they'll fail with regular use. the best solution is to stock up on them. KEvron
  12. yeah, it'd definitely take up some space, and it's not a particulary clean solution. it's just food for thought, and that's always on the menu. KEvron
  13. the small actuator extends 2" (5cm) and the large actuator extends 4" (10cm). KEvron
  14. right, but what is there to limit the rotation of the motor wrt steering, other than the operator's own good judgement? i'm not trying to be contentious; rather, it's that i'm not familiar with the pf line, having yet to purchase any of the elements. i don't know the properties particular to each element. that being the case, i can only extrapolate from what little i do know about lego motors. i admit that i have an ulterior motive in pursuing this discussion: it occured to me that a motor combined with a limited slip differential could provide a make-shift servo. the primary output would actuate the steering up to the point of limitation, at which point the neutral output would receive the surperfluous torque. your moc got me to thinking, is what i'm saying. those are the ones i enjoy the best. KEvron
  15. yes, i got that. another consideration lego might have, aside from drained batteries, is their own position of liability in releasing a toy which is potentially dangerous. were i a toymaker, the latter would likely provoke a greater concern. KEvron
  16. then there are liability issues to consider, with regard to property damage and personal injury. they probably wouldn't want to make toys powerful enough to remove digits. KEvron
  17. is there then a danger of over-steering? KEvron
  18. this may sound stupid, but how is that you're able to use the motor as a servo? and does the steering return to center? KEvron
  19. all the way through it, i kept thinking to myself "he's gonna need a bigger screwdriver, he's gonna need a bigger screwdriver", then fade to black. i just don't get french new wave cinema. KEvron
  20. that film would benefit greatly from a rewrite. needs a happy ending. KEvron
  21. funky link. KEvron ....i found the video. no payoff. it's a rickroll. KEvron
  22. wikipedia has provided a diagram. KEvron
