Hi all,
I came across this and I'm trying to learn more about it. It appears to be a factory pre-production sample for set 6712 "Sheriff's Showdown" (Wild West, 1996).
Details:
Comes in a bag with "6712" handwritten on a piece of tape
Included is a translucent plastic card with a red sticker reading: "The sample may contain elements which do not live up to the standard product safety and quality specifications for the LEGO products. Be aware that this sample must not end at the consumers, but have to be returned to LEGO System A/S in Billund." Attn: Søs Sørensen, Modelproduction Department in Billund
A separate white circular sticker with a handwritten price (looks like "5,10")
The minifigures/parts appear to match the retail 6712 set (Sheriff on horse, Bandit, barrel, bush, campfire, cash stack)
Questions:
Has anyone seen these Modelproduction Department sample cards before? Any info on Søs Sørensen or this department?
Any idea what these typically go for among vintage LEGO / prototype collectors?
Any tips on verifying authenticity?
Photos attached. Thanks in advance for any insight!
