I'm officially getting back into the hobby after a 30-year hiatus. I used to have some fantastic sets back in the late 80s and 90s, and now the spark is back after receiving an X-Wing as a gift from my wife.
Since I'm basically starting fresh, I wanted to ask about your general experiences and rules of thumb when buying used sets.
To give you an example of what I'm running into: I recently saw a local listing for a UCS Razor Crest for the equivalent of about $100 USD. The platform offered buyer protection, but the seller marked the condition as "used" and specifically noted it was played with "by a 4-year-old"
Was this actually the deal of a lifetime, or did I just dodge a bullet full of missing, chewed-up, and broken pieces? (Or worse, a fake?).
What are your personal guidelines when navigating the used market? What red flags make you walk away immediately, and when do you know a used deal is actually worth the risk?
