  1. This is a beaut! I really love the techniques used to get the shaping in the front correct. It's very clean and has all the detail you can shake a stick at! I too use LDD to pre-build things when I do not have the parts available at the time. I built the wings for my TIE advanced on LDD to figure out all the kinks and because I had a nearly unlimited amount of parts to choose from. Not too many people have 156 1x2 black grille bricks in their collection. I actually completely built my next project on LDD which you can see here. Just need to order up all the parts from Bricklink and tweak it as I go.
  2. I agree Brickdoctor, there seems to be no better way to clean up the edges but to use 1X" plates around the border and with Lego, you are limited. Unless you want studs everywhere which look ugly! The wings would be so much cooler if they were SNOT instead of sideways plates. That is a mod I will for sure do. Actually, I will most likely scrap mine (when I eventually get one) and build one in my own style. Just need to see how that new windscreen is going to work out. It still looks a little bulbous to me.
  3. Looks great! I somehow always liked this scene it the movie. I felt bad for the poor droid getting stretched apart.
  4. Yeah, "I Like It's" Congrats on getting Blogged!
  5. Im in for sure!!!! Got a 74-Z ready to go!
  6. I almost fell out of my chair when I saw this! WOW MOODY!!! This completely blew away my expectations for it. I already knew it would be awesome and black obviously but the added grey and red elements make it pop. I'm pretty sure this will go over 100 ILI's on the pages. I hope it does because it deserves it!!!
  7. You noticed that... Yes they are ADU guns! I can't remember why I thought they would make cool arm rests though... It works relly well it seems! Thanks for the comment!
  8. I will work on that! Thanks for the constructive criticism!!!
  9. Hey whats up Moody! Thanks for the feedback my brotha! Yeah as stated before I'm going to do the TIE/ad "avenger" in this style. Just have to make sure I get that cockpit ball accuracy figured out! Ahhh, THANKS for clarifying that for me! That part is pretty annoying if you ask me... I was hesitant to like the newer printing on the dome canopy in the upcoming set but now I like it.
  10. I never looked at them back to back like that and I see the point you guys are making about the size of the cockpit ball. Makes me want to go back and revise it. By the way, I like how you photoshopped some grey color into that windscreen piece (is that what you are referring to as a SPUD? What does that mean?). I think all I really need to do is add some plates to the top to rise it up a bit. The bottom seems ok. Right? Now that I think of it, It will probably be easier to pull of a more accurate cocpit ball with the new windscreen dome piece coming in the 2012 TIE fighter set. That way you can add the cannons in any position you want and also not rely on the connection areas of the older style piece, which for me makes it harder to build a sphere.
  11. The stand has a 1x10 (I think) brick supporting the back section which also aids in the support of the wing panels. They are connected via technic axles that connect internaly near the cockpit. The wings have a 2x2 thin hinge plate that kind of sit on the flat section edge and keeps the wings from twisting down from the back. The flat sections in the rear are held on by a 1x4 bracket. Because of the weight and limitations of structuring, I cannot really lift it off the stand without it bowing like crazy and/or the wings falling off!
  12. The pylons are awesome! Getting them to connect and also having the hole is brilliant. The whole thing is brilliant! The curvature on the flat sections in the back of the craft cannot be built any way better. I HAD to use that same technique on my advanced. The way you made everything connect to the cockpit ball with little gaps remaining is my favorite thing in this build. My only gripe is the blockyness of the cockpit and the tiny windscreen. Other than that, this things pretty much spot on! Thank you for the inspiration!!!
  13. I remember seeing yours a while back when I was looking around. I had the wings done already and most of the body. I tried several ways to snot the flat sections in the back but you can say I was inspired by yours! Your build is a lot more accurate where the back meets the cockpit ball almost like its a modular section that was attached still leaving a gap in between.
  14. After 2 long months of planning, designing, building, tearing apart, rebuilding, Bricklink orders, changing more things, and building some more, my largest and most detailed project is finally complete! Yay for me!!! DVtie1 by IMPERIAL FLEET, on Flickr DVtie3 by IMPERIAL FLEET, on Flickr DVtie4 by IMPERIAL FLEET, on Flickr 108 by IMPERIAL FLEET, on Flickr
  15. This is really cool. I like the detail and basically the whole theme itself! Nice work.
