Ever since I started building with LEGO, I’ve loved the challenge of turning everyday objects into working models.
This creation is a functional coin sorter, designed entirely out of LEGO bricks – but with a twist: I gave it a Steampunk look, combining mechanical function with a vintage, industrial aesthetic.
The model doesn’t just sit on a shelf – it actually works. When you drop coins in, the mechanism sorts them by size as they travel through the gears and channels. To bring it to life, I added a Steampunk flavor: exposed gears, copper-style details, and a retro-futuristic vibe that makes it look like something out of an old inventor’s workshop.
My goal was to merge functionality and storytelling. The model feels like it could belong in a 19th-century factory, or on the desk of a mad scientist counting their treasure.
I’d love to hear what you think about it – both the mechanism itself and the design style. Do you prefer the engineering aspect, or the Steampunk look?
