Well if this is how my first order from them arrives, why should I trust them again?
-
Yes well, City Corner is $100 here in Australia if you can even find a place that sells it. I also buy sets, which I think will go up in value over the years, to put away in storage. Again, useless if damaged...
-
I actually bought them to resell them, so they are useless to me now.

The license plate on that vehicle is facing forward. On the ambulance it's on a curved bumper, so it's angled toward the side. This never happens in real life - license plates are never angled and always face directly straight ahead.
-
Yes but such plates always face forward. In other words, they are never angled, like they are on the ambulance.
-
Why is the license plate on the ambulance off centre? It should be in the middle - looks wrong to me. I don't like how the red bricks at the front stick out over the headlights - it should be more rounded at the edges. The mobile fire command could be worth getting for the front tractor unit alone, which I would personally prefer to use for civ. use (get rid of the blue lights). Very nice truck - the red and yellow colour scheme could turn it into a Linfox truck. Lego need to put out more bonneted trucks - I don't have any in my city :( I don't like cab-overs. I like how they've combined a prisoner transport and dog unit into one vehicle. It looks better than the previous 2 separate vehicles. It's a shame I bought both of those only a few months ago :(

It's from Amazon themselves. "Amazon Export Sales". Am I within my rights to return it for a refund?

This arrived today: http://imageshack.us/f/18/lego1f.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/f/40/lego2f.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/f/266/lego3z.jpg/ In the first image, I did not do that to the box. That's actually how it arrived. Flimsy cardboard, no protection at all. Any idea what I should do about this? This is a hassle I really didn't need :(

Is $58.66 a good price for the 7498 Police station? A while back I ordered 2 from Big W online, but due to a glitch it ended up showing 3. I was only ever charged for the 2 ($176), but to my surprise they sent me 3! -

Guys, the price is a mistake. The $58 refers to the Kingdoms Prison Tower Rescue (7947), which is normally $88. The product SKU for 7946 (Castle) is actually the SKU for 7947. It's a mix up. I went down to Big W in person and verified this. So if you ring them up over the phone and they tell you they have stock of Castle and it's $58, don't bother - when you get there you'll find it's actually the Tower. Too bad. -

Well firstly, that particular seller is charging too much for shipping. If you find a seller who charges actual shipping cost, it should be barely $60, not $70. Secondly, if you're patient and wait for the exchange rate to improve, you could possibly pick it up for $10 less again. Unless there is a rush to get this set (and let's face it, you're not in a rush because it was released nearly 2 years ago), then you will save more by buying overseas. -

You need to look harder. There was one on eBay just a few days ago which was advertised for $155 plus $70 shipping ($225 total): http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180735660842&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:AU:1123#shId -

$230 is an impressive price for IF? I bought the Kingdoms castle from them for $101.99 a while back, and they delivered it for free to my door (because I live on St. Kilda Rd). Now *that's* a good price. -
Lego does have violent themes though. Pirates is a military based theme and includes guns. Kingdoms/castle too. In fact, if you gave the police in Lego city the guns from pirates, they would be an accurate representation of the Victorian police force (who still use revolvers designed in the 1800s).
-
So no one liked my military idea? :(
-
It's a shame this will never happen, but I think a Lego military theme would have so much potential. Army, navy, air force, etc. Minifigs and vehicles would all be compatible with City sets (roughly to scale). Imagine having your city occupied by foreign forces. Ah, one can dream...
-
You can pretty much form a road train from existing sets, though.
-
What about a car carrier/transporter? Similar to 7900 Heavy Loader, but smaller and with a decked trailer. It could come with 3 small cars (similar to to 3177 Small Car). You could have 2 on the bottom and 1 up top. Of course, there would also be extra room to add further cars (perhaps 4-5 max).
-
Interesting, I never knew what the choices were. What was the third choice?
-
I know it's been done before back in the 80s, but it's long overdue - a new truck stop. With all the trucks Lego has released over the past few years, I think it would be a good idea. The stop should accomodate trucks up to 8-studs wide, and contain a cafe/diner, repair shop with spare parts, mechanic, etc, a refuelling station (Octan of course), and maybe even a truck wash.
-
I don't think current sets should all have to be backwards compatible with sets from the 1980s. The current vehicles interact fine with the current structures. I can fit the relatively large yellow bus from city corner into the garage of the fire station quite easily - if that's not interacting with structures I don't know what is.
-
The scale is pretty accurate: Would you suggest that both vehicles be the same width? How is that any more accurate?
-
Lightning - scroll up, I posted a link to an image a few posts up.

I never actually realised just how uniquely Australian the whole RBT thing is. Just doing a Google image search, almost every result that comes up is from an Australian site. Maybe the drinking culture in Europe is different? The police probably don't have to worry so much about drunk drivers because so many people use public transport over there, or walk.
-
I agree that the scale is fine and I prefer the 6-stud wide trucks compared to the unrealistic 4-stud wide trucks from the 1980s/90s. You also have to remember that vehicles in general have gotten much larger since the 1980s. Back in the 80s, a typical SUV was a modestly sized 2-door vehicle, perhaps even shorter than a standard car in length. Today, they are enormous by comparison. Even standard cars have become much wider since the 80s. So in a way Lego is simply mirroring reality.
