  3. 6066 Camouflaged Outpost Year: 1987 pieces: 211 figures: 6 original price: $23,- I've been with the Forestmen for a few weeks now. Not only I've learned a lot from them, butt also the great forest has a lot to teach to me. Everything seems to be alive and connected, every single tree has a story and is beautiful in his own way The Forestmen asked me to join a messenger/scout to bring a message to a outpost. It takes a day to get there but I gladly accepted the invitation. Because of the hurry the message has we left the afternoon and had to make camp in the middle of the forest. Luckily there are many hollow trees so it was no problem to find a place to shelter. The next day we got up early to continue our journey. It was around 13:00 when the scout stopped. “We are here” he said and whistled in a certain way. I looked around wondering what he meant with “we are here” as I didn't see anything what looked like an outpost. All I could see were trees and some rocks. Suddenly a peace of rock moved aside an 2 Forestmen came out of the opening. IT WAS A CAVE!! Now I knew were to look I could distinguish some sort of platform, one of the two Forestmen climbed up the rock and took position on the platform. It had to be some kind of lookout tower. I got off the horse and followed my companion inside the cave, There were four Forestmen more inside here! The interior was modest, as I got used to with all the Forestmen buildings. The message was given and all the sudden everybody got busy. I understood it had to be something to do with the message but could not think of anything that important. I was still thinking of what the message could be when I got another surprise. The curved side of the rock went up! It seemed to be some kind of lifting mechanism who opened the cave(and when I think back to it, I had to be wood or something which was painted in grey to match the colour of the rocks). 3 Forestmen left the outpost and disappeared in the forest. The stillness they left behind was relaxing and I finally took the time to rest from our trip and take a better look at the outpost. It certainly was a good camouflaged building. Even the lookout could only been seen if you knew where to look, which was very difficult because the whole area was filled with rocks and trees, and the light from the sun was partial blocked. The building itself was genius in its simplicity. There were no big constructions or heavy doors. Everything was cleverly hidden for unwanted visitors. But that was also its downside. As soon as enemies discovered the place it could not be defended well. The lookout had a great shot from above, but the back was unprotected. The only escape route was at he front were the two exits were close to each other. I think the Forestmen did not find that a problem, the chances anybody would find the outpost were small, very small. It had to be around 19:00 when the 3 Forestmen returned. Two of them carried a big chest. When they opened it to show the others I understood everything. The chest was filled with gold so the message gave the Forestmen a hint of were to find some enemies with easy money. My companion told me we would leave the next day so I used my spare time to make some drawings of the outpost. They are on the backside of this log. This is it for now, I hope to see you soon with more details about the remarkable life of the Forestmen. Odeüs
  4. Thanks for all you comment, and your welcome. After years I'm finally back with lego How could I ever forget it!!! I agree with al you, who say the forestmen are one of the best Lego evert released(I think actually the best) The details are so great and everything is build from little pieces instead of the big pieces you get in sets now. Is there anything you people missed in the review? Its my first so I could learn enough for you all:) Oh, pictures should be better now. Right??
  5. Forestmen's Hideout Release: 1988 Pieces: 198 Figures: 2 Original price: $17,50 The story Inside the great forest there are not only wilde animals to look out for. People entering the great forest always get the feeling being watched, but they never find any traces of people if they look around. They say it are the Forestmen who are in full control of the great forest, and its them who watch anybody who enters the great forest. Some knights ask there self: Where al those forestmen come from, where do they life? How do they always know where you are in the forest? Well, I know the answer tot that, It was me Odeüs who lived among them for a few months. I have made some drawings from a few of their buildings and maybe than you understand, why this people are rarely seen inside their great forest. The building The Hideout is a type of building the forestmen use to keep an eye on parts of the great forest. It is manned with 2 forestmen, who patrol the area, esspacially roads. The hideout itself is very difficult to see because there is a tree every 10 feet. besides that a hideout has many diverent shapes because the base of the hideout is a hollow tree who can be found al lot in the great forest. Inside this tree a room is made to live en watch the direct suroundings of the hide out. There can also be a target found for practise witch bow and arrow. Its not that every forestmen is born with great bow skill, its pratice, practise, practise. Besides this all, the hideout is quite modest. It can look deserted in a few minutes, or be made habitable in second. The opening in the tree gives the forestmen a quick way to hide or the escape the tree in case of great danger. Inside this tree a room is made to live en watch the direct suroundings of the hide out. The following drawings give a idea how the tree would look if we cut them in half (a ridiculous idea of course ) Well, I hope you enjoyed the discription I gave of the forestmen hideout. Hopefully you understand more of this people who are living their own life in the great forest For now I greet you all, and I'm hoping to see you soon. Odeüs
  6. so far...... ive got nothing 8-| although i'm a big castle lover, i dont like the fanasy theme. I hope lego wil make some more historic acurate themes in the future. Im stil collecting some viking sets (fortress en dubble catapult)
  7. Nice set, although not everything is correct. The Soldiers are not corresponing with the ones in the caste (different torso and helmet) the second thing i dislike are the studs the king has to sit on (or try to sit on) Am i missing something here or doesn't fit it at all? I love the royal knigts so im happy to have this set:)
  8. The viking Dragon rulezz them al............., well for me it does :-D I like the moving parts. besides that its a dragon which is actually build with more dan 3 stones ;-) Besides the creator dragen ofcourse :-)
  9. Hi All, This set of game rules looks great! Im thnking of making a wargame for castle. I hope you dont mind borrowing a few of your ideas :-) Has somebody any experience with action points voor figures? for example: a knight has 10 action points: attacking costs 4 ponit, movement 1 points, climbing 2 points, etc...... Does this work? Im thinking of doing this for my game.
