Wizarding World 2024 - Rumors & Discussion
AnonymousAnonAnon replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
I'm conflicted. I quite like the modules for my young son. A problem with the bigger sets is that, if you break one playing with it, it's a bit daunting having to build the whole thing again. This design makes that issue much more manageable. That said, it is very expensive for an age range that young, especially since the new HBO series will change the entire aesthetic for his demographic in a few years. -

Hmmmm, I will have to reserve judgment on this one til we have better pictures. I was excited about it, I think it looks good, I like the dragon. Yet somehow I feel underwhelmed.- 685 replies

Yes, I do not understand the thought process with the cuts on this set. There is nobody buying this set who is not already a castle fan. It is expensive and has no real appeal outside of being a companion to the castle. So why do they think dedicated castle fans are willing to pay $230 for a meh product but not willing to pay $280 for a fantastic one? It makes no sense. If they were trying to keep it ~$100, ok, that is a different matter. But $230 is a lot of money. It is not "meh" money.

Yes, the same for me. I was hoping this line would be the play-friendly Icons sets, since LKC has so many play features. As it is, it is certainly more playable than, say, a modular--but nothing sets it apart, playwise, from any other open-backed set. It's funny. If it was $280 and truly spectacular. it might be a Day One for me. But at this price, and with all the sacrifices clearly made...I will wait for it to go on sale.

Oh, I'm so glad the 4+ will have Batgirl! I wish the villain was literally anyone besides Joker or Harley Quinn, though. It's not like it's an issue of this being designed for a different market than I'm in--my son is literally their target audience and already has multiples of both. Glad I waited to get a Batmobile, though, as this one (despite paying for another Harley Quinn I don't want) sounds fun.

It's too bad we're in different countries, or I'd say (if I'm right) we should split--you can have the minifigures, and I'll take the batcave! :-) I thought the Batwing would probably come with it, but looks like they did a 4+ Batcave and Batwing in 2019, so not sure if they'd do the exact same combo again...

How, please, can I delete my account? Would also prefer to delete my posts so as to leave minimal digital footprint, but I understand if that isn't permitted.

To play with them. If this was another pot shot at gender inclusivity in toys, I think I must have walked into the wrong room. Mods, can you point me in the right direction to delete my account? Not seeing the option on the settings page. -

Glad that you have now taken the time to agree with me twice on the subject. Have a lovely night. -

I am not quite sure why you felt the need to post a political opinion (one which flies in the face of all objective data), sans any reference to the sets being discussed, while simultaneously saying this is a LEGO forum, but, as I said--there seems little left to say to you, so have a lovely night. -

I'm sorry to hear you think that gender inequality is not a huge problem in the world; however, given that that's the case, there seems little left to say. -

You sure do think an awful lot of things are secret ploys. The lack of representation of women and girls in certain toys unquestionably has a role in shaping who we view those toys as "for." Showing young girls that this toy is equally for them creates a powerful statement, and I think you are failing to appreciate the significance of that--and that the burden of gender inequality it is helping, in its small way, to ameliorate, is far heavier than than the burden of having to buy a few heads off PAB. -

Do you perhaps stop to wonder why your purported gender imbalance in purchasers exists? -

I must say, I find it disconcerting to think that anyone would view the inclusion of women minifigures to be a cynical marketing ploy towards men. I assure you that women and girls want to see themselves represented; girls, perhaps, even need to see it, even if it's just on the box in the store. And the notion that something that is clearly about women is secretly about men shows WHY women need more representation everywhere. So do what you like with your own toys, but I hope you will some day come to the conclusion that having to pay a few extra dollars to exclude women minifigures is a small price to pay when stacked against the millennia of gender inequality that this is taking the teeniest, tiniest, infintessimally-small step toward righting. -

It's strange...I like the ship a lot and would have purchased it if sold separately, but something about it doesn't go with the fort. So I suppose if I was nitpicking and had to choose a flaw, that would be it. -

New here, but I love it specifically because it is a big playset. I really appreciate these sets that I can build myself and then play on with my son. I wish more of the 18+ sets in general had this amount of playability.
