I can think of one potential exception and it is simply another set that would give us another Batman and Joker :/ Whether its a faithful diorama or a playset that hits some key notes of gargoyles, falling bells and a treacherous environment, its the final confrontation of Batman 89. A TDK Two-Face would be cool, but that would be a rooftop and a guy threatening to kill kids as the action. So maybe he happens in 5-10 years if the line and interest in that trilogy still exists but its just Two-Face in a new Tumbler instead of Scarecrow. Now we only got the BAT, Bane and a camo Tumbler in 2013 but... did the BAT make an impression? I do not feel like it did. I feel like there is a reason every Batwing is basically the same set, because it is iconic (I think the newest one has knocked all the other ones of its type out the park though). Same with a BvS one (probably ready to sell my original one). I think every Batmobile is many people's favourite but not every Batwing. Not most Batwings. Even if we got Endgame/No Way Home diaroma style sets its hard to imagine sequences to hit with that (admittedly biased because as much as we wanted dioramas those Marvel ones fell flat for me). The already mentioned clock tower for sure, admittedly. Maybe a collapsing Wayne Manor but thats Bruce and the League not Batman and the League. And Ra's Al Ghul is just a guy in a suit there. Bane breaking Batman might be a stronger pick, just do the water behind them, the railing, and the two figures, likely one of those sets that can be for play or display like the Rey vs Kylo Ren Starkiller Forest fight set if anyone knows that one. 2022 has some personal all-time Batman scenes; I can imagine a build that is Batman grappling up the police stairwell as they chase up the stairs, then on the other side have him leaping off as more police men watch in shock. Its a set that needs too many figures and its all cops, real exciting. Then theres finding the sweet spot of price, scale and the gorgeous facade of that building. As a second pick I want to imagine the flooded stadium and the red flare but... that sounds more like a MOC. Too many Batman moments are MOCs not sets. And a World/House of the Future from Phantasm would be exciting but oh that is another Joker. Unique character in his wife though. Its an interesting enough location, maybe include a bit of the coaster for more play, and ofc have Batman and Phantasm for the fight. I think sticking to classic movie moments is going to be a challenge but there's not the faith in more interesting stuff, anything outside of the movies. The Penguin car from TLBM and the duck boat from a year or so earlier were both good sets that gave us memorable things in a way that made a good Lego set. The Joker's Bulldozer in 2014 felt like a deleted scene from 89, complete with a new suit print, fedora, bang gun and a very 89 Goon though entirely original, plus our first Damian and any Batgirl. But the 2010s had their share of complaints in made up vehicles Went on a ramble there, all about what will not happen. And all these impossibilities are ones constrained to a safe fantasy of only ever getting Batman. And maybe a Superman 2 Fortress set with Zod and co.

LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

Something else I think about the Barge (at least I did not see someone else say this already) is even without an interior you want figures on the top deck. Manning the turrets, R2D2 ready to save the day, C3PO spends most of his time downstairs but is up there at the end, Boba Fett starts there. Luke fights at least seven people up there, with usually four onscreen at least at a time and... okay I would bet on no Huttslayer Leia but this will be an 18+ set on the top shelf if its in the store at all, and unlike a throne room this is the moment every girl dreams of, strangling Jabba with the chain he tried to hold you with, she should be here. But I dont think the most interesting 10 goons Luke takes out on top of the Barge and another Boba Fett justifies not even the single room for Jabba. And though that was a limited release item no longer available, I would not be making a UCS Sail Barge without looking at Hasbro's equivalent from a few years back and the huge emphasis it had on play, to the point of unseen locations that both make sense and are fun - a kitchen, jail cell and armoury. Should be a nobrainer for a Lego set to be a playset but somehow I expect the crowdfunded less than 10k produced item that should only consider what adults want to remember what play is more than Lego these days. But it still needs the one room we saw in the film. And I might be being too negative because the information says it has nothing, other sets have had their needed interiors, regardless of execution. -

Lord of the Rings Ongoing Discussion
CowabungaCat replied to Momotof's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Guess my mistake was in thinking supply and demand was real. Demand going down but no one adjusting prices is basically a different flavour of what I posited. I think one message is all I have in me to care about aftermarket values anyway -

New versions of the Fellowship are a single super-large set. Now sure, probably cheaper than aftermarket prices for the entire fellowship. But if we got say a remake of Gandalf's arrival, thats a cheap way for everyone to get Gandalf and Frodo and prices would drop. Similarly, a new Hagrids Hut many find superior brings down prices of the older one, so would a new... weathertop. And Harry Potter has one clear location to always have on shelves if anything is, and a good 30% of the line is that location. LOTR has so many diverse locations and no clear one to do, so while I saw Hagrids Huts going cheaper before there was any inkling of a 2019 one, who can be sure we get a new better Helms Deep? And when you give everyone Rivendell and no guarantee of anything else, and now a rumoured second set of another new location, you can bet that drives demand up for the original LOTR line. Anyone selling a Saruman's tower specifically is probably in for a double dose of luck there. Very different scenarios -
LEGO Videogame Tie-Ins - Rumors & Discussion

Its definitely the battle pass thing, I made a mistake in thinking Marvel/Star Wars were not in there because all of my skins from them are battle passes (plus Loki from Fortnite crew, which has in common that they will not be resold). I will keep being embarrassed the more there is discourse from my initial comment and not the corrected reply :) -

Feel like BTAS Riddler and Two-Face would be two recognisable characters not done in their iconic looks for a good while now (not specifically BTAS but both of them in their suits and Two-Face specifically in black and white). Personally nothing is going to beat the Billy D Williams one but... that has to be on a lot of people's radar. A Two-Face that is not bronze age or with a meta melted hair piece. Also agree it would be nice to see the Hush suit or Terry. I think BTAS would have to do real well for them to consider Beyond though. Thats not something that happens in the same year as finally returning to BTAS for the first time since the original line really. This line is played so safe getting more than Joker is a blessing

Ongoing Transformers Rumors and Discussion
CowabungaCat replied to NoOneOfImportance's topic in LEGO Licensed
Bee being a Volkswagen was a legit issue ten/twenty years ago, I would call it an easy shot now. Transformers has had licensed VW figures for both of the last two movies and three new G1 renditions. One of those comes out this year/early next year and another was early 2022. This is a complete shift of VWs old policy of "under no circumstances will we ever associate ourselves with a war brand" so I really would not give that any weight. Plus its far harder to imagine a transforming live action Lego Bumblebee and I think general audiences understand Bumblebee is Bumblebee. And Lego has worked with them often enough too. And its Bumblebee. The Optimus figure banked so heavily on the original toy, iirc the instruction essay says as much, I think there is a heavy consideration of an audience that maybe does not follow what Hasbro does now and if Megatron is a tank it is going to lack that same appeal, though it obviously will not be a pistol. And that is if they want to do a large modern tank which at best is a coin toss for Lego. Then Megatron, possibly any Decepticon, is a bigger risk. Optimus and Bumblebee do not need to do as much to sell themselves as Megatron, but Optimus still went all out in aspects a Megatron cannot so the bar is even higher. The most likely Decepticon imo would be Soundwave, simple design, non-military, has a novel altmode, is perhaps more recognisable than Megatron and is one of the most iconic "original" designs. I wonder how long this line can go because there's no likely Megatron to make as a Lego Transformer. Which brings me back to Bumblebee. Optimus, no Megatron and almost any other character might feel incomplete. Optimus and Bumblebee though, that works. Maybe a Grimlock after that (same lineup as Robosen another line of expensive Transformers licensed product that seems to have done Optimus first and more based on the success of that) -

My bad on the Marvel, just not any of the ones I have. And honestly, the lack of Darth Vader did make me assume it was not many Star Wars. I guess maybe its the ones from Battle Passes they will not resell that are omitted, and hey most of my Star Wars characters are from Battle Passes. Show me not to do research But there is a point to be made that its two major Disney owned properties + Ninja Turtles. -
Loved the new episodes, really hope the show finds greater success than it has in recent years. It is a difficult series to imagine builds for that Lego would do. But I want to try and answer that since in my time lurking Ive seen more focus on characters. Dalek Emperor, sure. Do a Dalek saucer the next wave. But if its more than one wave you have to keep doing Dalek stuff and... what else is there. Location-based sets are not too common without a hook. If Daleks keep being brickbuilt maybe the third year is a Dalek Battle Pack where they are the build, maybe with one of their floating platforms with the railguard they like to use even though they can fly. Could probably pull the classic Superhero trick of making up vehicles for the Cybermen. A Cyber-tank could look quite cool really. And doing a giant Cyberman action figure is not even without precedent, at least one time a Cyberman was really big. You can do a "Darth Vader transformation" style set thats a cyber-conversion pod. Comes with 11 and when you reverse the head its the partly cyberformed one from Nightmare in Silver. Not necessarily based on that episode but allows you to create a scenario where The Doctor needs rescuing from it, or you could use any character and the Cyberman that comes with it (location set with a hook that also gives fans real things from the show). That set could even have Bill in it. And Lego already has the head mould so you can lean heavily on them, their iconic status, and their made up vehicles to keep the line going. Then if the line goes well it gets to make new monster moulds. Clearest set in my mind would probably be the cheapest of the wave, a small facade of shop windows with an exploding feature for Autons to break out of. That one most of all I can picture in my head, that has to be a Lego set. Think of the TMNT 2012 Krang tube, or Scooby Doo's museum facade that a Mummy bursts out of. Two Autons and a companion? And then that is basically an army builder with just enough of a premise for kids to buy a single one and play with it. If we would get any set without the Doctor is another thing but... that is how I would do it. You could make it two Autons and Nine instead, and Nine's outfit even works if buying multiples to stick some Auton heads on and diversify the looks. Aside from fear what I remember from "Rose" as a kid is the confusion that The Doctor wore pretty similar clothes to the villains of the episode (maybe thats how he got them? a first run-in before meeting Rose) Tardis Exterior set, that ones small and takes longer to get discontinued if the line goes well. Ten and a companion for sure, this is the set you buy if you buy no other. Although, maybe Fourteen and Donna complimenting the Fifteenth Interior we are about to mention. Tardis interior set, my most original idea. Classic ones could potentially be a smaller set, and once you retire the first one do another (say the original and then the wood console for two fairly unique versions of the same thing). Heck, even the current TARDIS, as big as that is, is mostly ramps. Make that a small set of the console, the Jukebox, and maybe a ramp to the door with a couple Roundels surrounding it. I say small, think the original Ideas set without the exterior build versus a Millenium Falcon. Then with Tennant being as popular as he is, if the line does well do a big coral TARDIS for the second year. I think Alexandria has the right idea including the Simms Master, Martha and Jack with that one. Short of Journeys End thats the coolest thing you could do and making it The Simms Master stealing the TARDIS with a Toclafane or two fits how I am approaching it based on my subjective understanding of how Lego works and what we enjoy about it and remember enjoying as a kid. Bessie is one I would love as a fan but I feel needs something else to be a Lego set, something chasing it. Car chases might not be hugely Who, but chases in general are and also make for a fun set. Lego City has ten of those a year right? Big brickbuilt monster? I am blanking on possibilities there. But something the size of Ninjagos Dragon Hunter Hound, which is a small set for a big creature, plus Bessie. How big was the Werewolf in series 2? Maybe that. Werewolf chasing 3 and Brig and Missy is there too because I just remembered Missy and shes the most important character. A certain ship appears in a trailer for the Christmas special which I think would make a great set with some fun monsters and action right at home in a Lego set already seen just in those few seconds, and I would expect more than one with Ncuti, we are all assuming its his stuff that is going to get us Lego sets if anything will. I also would not worry too much about not getting 11, 12 or Clara. The ideas set was so long ago I think even that console room is only delayed by doing more recent and more popular ones first. Sorry this is long, got carried away.

LEGO Videogame Tie-Ins - Rumors & Discussion
CowabungaCat replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
So I usually just lurk here but I want people talking about this and no one is talking about this. Now there is no Lego Batman in this game, no Lego Marvel, a single Lego Star Wars character so there's not a lot of "this is a character that is both Lego and another license". And this could be nothing. Maybe the TMNT can be Lego just for the purpose of a video game and then tomorrow Mega Bloks announce more sets. But this feels like something to me. And if there is any year for a return its now, this is like the last year we got TMNT sets in 2012. Huge revival for the series, first time in years the shelves are packed with their toys, this time its a movie with a TV show and a sequel incoming. And those are the actual head moulds and far as I can tell without seeing a back view the shells from 2012 too. I definitely am getting my hopes up too much but... if nothing else comes of it this is a still a surprising thing to happen.
