Disney Properties 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

Apart from Prince Ali, I think the rest would send me into tears 🥺 Kidding, kidding - however, it would not surprise me if that's the stunt Lego decides to pull... -

Yeah I'm ready to expect about four minfigs as well, and while I have my ideal selection, I have a feeling two slots will definitely be taken up by Pinocchio and Stitch. I have my doubts about the last two slots being both princesses, and my guess is Aladdin will be the third, leaving Ariel or Belle as a fourth. I just have this looming feeling that Lego won't do two princesses or more. Not sure as to which one, but both have more accurate hair pieces, particularly Ariel who has a brand new design. Bye bye Elsa... 😬 I can see them picking Ariel, again for the new hair, and Lego can avoid the bigger dress piece that you'd would expect for Belle. I can also see them picking Belle seeing that she was given more easter egg attention in the castle and granted that we have Gaston already. That's my pure speculation though. I would love to have them all included. -

Yes I've been lurking on here and insta a bit more often just for a leak!!! I'm so keen yet equally worried. I hope that they keep all originally included minifigures. I would love an updated Ariel, Aladdin, ans Elsa in addition to Belle! I could cope with them not repeating existing minfigures (I've already swapped out heads for Ariel and Elsa to better match the recent style of Disney minifigures), but if Belle is out... Yeah, I dunno' how I'll feel haha. -

I absolutely adore this idea!!! Would certainly make a perfect set! Hopefully though, at this point in time, Beast and Belle make an appearance in the Disney Magic set. -

That's actually a very valid point! In an ideal world, I'd be keen for future sets based off what we saw in the Disney camera sets. Quite a few characters and movies left unexplored. Fingers crossed that Lego sticks to the whole minifigure-based sets in general though! -
What a bummer 😔 Guess it's just going to be more Tim Burton Batman. No hate by the way, just there are so many other Batman properties to explore if Lego is so unwilling to expand to other heroes. Like although the movies are painful, one mainly in particular than the other, at least move into Batman Forever and Batman & Robin for the sake of something different. Yes I may groan at the sight of a diorama with Mr Freeze riding a frozen dino or something alongside a god awful pun for a quote - same with a Riddler in a sparkling body suit with fairy floss for hair - but hey, something fresh and new characters nonetheless 😆😐

Yeah that's somewhat me. I'm weirdly all over the place on it. There are things that other people might like that I'm not to crazy about, there are things that other's don't like and I like - and then there's my nostalgia in the mix. Like I do like the sparkle effect even though yes they are not accurate - my reason being that the princesses with gold sparkles compliment the 50th anniversary styled castle with its gold accents. Like yes it is Cinderella's castle but she is silver in terms of her sparkles, and I find that the sparkle effect connects her with the other princesses who instead have gold, and the gold connects them all to the castle. That's my crazed opinion to try and make the style castle and Cinderella feel connect 😆 Colour wise for outfits and so forth do bother me, which I won't get into again haha. Also, like JeanGreyForever stated, I agree with wanting a better hair mold and crown for Aurora and that both Cinderella and Tiana should have gotten bigger dresses seeing it did appear with the Queen of Hearts. Yes I noticed that in the film reel! Equally has excited me yet bummed me out. Would make sense to use the piece in a variant to get people to buy such a set, though at the same time I feel very uncertain they will continue the Disney minifigures after what happened to the Maleficient set. -

Quite possible. Even when the castle first released, I didn't really see Rapunzel nor Snow White being sold individually. Snow White eventually started to but Rapunzel was quite rare to come across on her own. She was often bought up too quickly or too expensive so I resorted to having the buy the minifigures in a bundle on ebay when looking for spares (I have a weird quirk for needing a least one spare after having my entire collection of figs destroyed 😮💨). I would like to know myself why Rapunzel is the hard to find one. Like you said, there are heaps of Cinderella - I've also found some going for as cheaps as $20-30. -

Yes the hair colouring between Cinderella and Aurora has always been a perplexing situation in mind 😆 I just can't move past how it should be the other way round when seeing any Disney merchandise. Another inaccuracy I noticed after having looked at my minifigures is that Cinderella's neck-choker thingo is silver instead of traditional black or modern day dark navy blue. I also think they should have given her the bigger dress piece, same with Tiana. As for Aurora's back printing, I assume it's a result of the hair needing to be perfectly flat towards the torso area to stop her minifigure from slipping off the castle bed. I think having to continue the length of the hair to where it would be accurate would look so odd with how absolutely flat the lower part would need to remain. I guess they sacrificed length and back torso coverage for her to be able to lay down - and with so much of the back torso able to be seen, they possibly came up with the corset to 'maintain detail'. I think you could have just done a seam line and it would have been fine in my opinion. I like the sleeping feature, but at the same time I would have loved a hair piece with voluminous curls. As for Rapunzel and her hair piece, I ocassionaly swap it out for the tousled hair piece used for Ron but in reddish brown. It doesn't have the accurate fringe swoop, but it's an alternative nonetheless. -

Yeah that's pretty inaccurate - thank you for explaining. I was just so excited to get minifigure Disney characters that I didn't really notice what went wrong with her finer details. The hair did bother me but I figured the dress piece would be too obstructive to go any further down without having to make the braid curve. I think Lego made that a no-go as it would make the hairpiece sit weirdly on any other minfigure. Yeah the overall colouring was the one thing I really noticed. I was introduced to the princess characters before they were "assigned" to colours, so their designs today have always thrown me off. Was used to Cinderella being silver (mind you, she also had the line detailing going on with the dress which was absent) and hair more strawberry/gold blonde, Snow White's dress not being as saturated, Aurora when barely shown in pink in film had a dress that was more saturated - so on and so on. I think you best captured these details perfectly already. But yes, the colours were overall what I considered inaccurate. Thought it was just me and my nostalgia, but nice to see others agree. I also think another reason why I didn't take notice of Rapunzel's inaccuracies was due to not have the same exposure to her as I did other characters. By that point, my siblings and I had pretty much grown up, and therefore weren't as keen to exhaustingly repeating to watch the same Disney films as we did as kids 😆 -

Wow yeah there's only like 5 new ones available and 1 used... Not even being sold on Brick Owl... What was inaccurate about her design? Asking out of curiosity as I didn't take notice of anything out of sorts. -
Lol I was too young at the time to appreciate those sets let alone know they existed. I very much became interested in Lego and DC upon playing the first Lego Batman game, and I believe they finished releasing the sets before the game came out 😅😮💨 In an ideal world, would have loved for the sets to have come out after the game - and maybe, in my opinion, have sets somewhat inspired from each level of the game so all the villains of the first game were actualised *cough cough* Clayface, Manbat, Mad Hatter, Killer Moth... Yeah I share the same sentiment. I do admittedly adore the duck boat from TLBM because it felt way more fleshed out, but as for other two... yeah, maybe not worth the repeat. Yes I want too 🥹

^^^Very much like this!!! Always wanted the Penguin's sub, and I would adore a Mr Freeze lab with a Nora minfigure (though I'd imagine we'd only ever end up with a monochrome minifigure limited being a silhouette within a glass case). Also, has anyone who has bought the BTAS skyline happen to have attempted to display it behind some modulars. If so, did it look good for a backdrop? Thinking of buying the set and doing something like that with my own city as I have all the buildings pushed up against a wall, though I don't know if it would look good.

I 100% agree! There's a priority on inspiration, but it's not trying to 100% replicate something. If you are a fairly in the loop DC fan, you'll find appreciation in taking notice of certain aspects of the set that you may feel connect with existing DC material and I very much thought the same things as you did Sinistereo when I saw this set as a kid. At the same time, it offers new and original aspects to give it a whole Lego twist that appeals for both children and adult collectors. Maybe some people would have preferred a Joker float and an exact replication of the scene from the movie - which is fine! In my opinion though, I enjoyed getting my first ever batgirl and Damien minfigures over building my exisiting collection of Batman and Joker, and for a kid the steam roller had more play opportunities than a float. I mostly appreciate the more fun and cryptic interpretation of the scene over spelling it out. I agree with the "parade float of death" take - it would be very on brand for Joker, and the whole set didn't really leave out core aspects of the scene as already perfectly described. Maybe I'm wrong though and maybe replicating nostalgia perfectly is of more value for the majority, which I absolutely respect and also see the appeal for. I've always preferred subtlety though, which is why I think the later TLBM sets were also fantastic with blending existing DC material with Lego interpretations. Again, you could see the inspiration but appreciate everything being fairly new.

I miss this era of DC sets and sets of the era of the Lego Batman 2 video game. I know the Tim Burton and Dark Knight films appeal to most DC fans, including myself, and while I think these darker and bold styles still have a place within Lego, I wish there were more lively sets thrown in the mix with bright colours and the cartoony charm to them. I feel like these older sets worked amazingly with Lego's branding - being imaginative and adventuresome. These sets never suffered from being lacklustre because they never seemed to carbon-copy or emulate DC material or existing Lego ideas. Yes, it took some core ideas, but everything had a unique twist that complemented DC in ways that most fans would not expect. It all felt more effortless than forced, unlike nowadays.

So here's the progress so far with my custom Prince Phillip minifigure. Thought I'd compare it with other Disney figures so other's can judge what they think so far in addition to visually support my decision making and explanations for what I plan to do next 🙂 So, upon trying out the Cedric Diggory head in person, it unfortunately didn't suit. While it had the more ideal brave expressions, it didn't have that "Disney-esque" style to it; it needed that more fluid emotive appearance, and Cedric's head striked me as too flat in emotion when compared with other Disney figures. To add on to that, the mouth printing on Cedric is a little too thin when comparing to the thickness of other mouth prints of Disney figures, which bothered me 😅 I tried getting a hold of a Paul Atredies head, which was more ideal than Cedric; however, at this point in time, the shipping and handling fees for every store I look at was way too out of hand when trying to get either the head or the figure itself. This left me with Venkman's head, which I had been conflicted as to whether or not it would work and thought I'd have the same problem as I did with Cedric. I was quite happy to see that Venkman's head does actually look rather alright in person (still want to try out Paul's head though), as it had a decent sense of expressions demonstrated with Disney figures. I think this is best illustrated when comparing my MOC figure with Charming and Florian, which are both reused heads themselves and Florian uses a shocked expression for his alternative face too. Going on from here, and after a lengthy search for parts, I think I'm going to turn to custom printing - I don't think there are any official printed pieces out there that would suit. I intend to replicate the lower half of Florian's outfit, without the gold trim, as both Phillip and Florian do share a similar outfit. As for an upper half, I'd probably do a plain black triange-esque shape with a stitch across the chest. My intention is do some pad printing by hand, creating my own silicone based stamps. I still need to do some research into what paint is used by Lego, also draft up how I'd like for the printing to look before I can proceed in this direction. -

Thank you heaps for your insight!!! I completely skipped past Paul Atredies' head when browsing for options, but so glad you pointed it out because it does make for a great option after seeing it more zoomed in. I also noticed Phillip has darker eyebrows and wanted to achieve this effect. I think it could work so I will chase up as where I can get it and see how it turns out in person: Mecabricks doesn't have it available to trial digitally. If the eyebrows appear too dark, which honestly at this point I don't mind as long as it means I create a Phillip minifigure, it could work great for Eric. As for the torso, that has to be the more trickery part and will require some customisation. I have closely examined whether his outfit is grey or tan/browns in it's colour scheme - it seems to vary immensely throughout the film and other Disney materials. The Lego leak shows him wearing his cape with a grey outfit, and as I'm wanting to draw inspiration from what is shown, I might go with grey; additionally, the colour scheme of greys suit him more with the cape than with tans and browns on Mecabricks. I've had a quick look at grey torsos, and I might (big might) settle with Luke Skywalker's grey Jedi robe torso and remove printing where needed and to shape the collar. I would look for hip printing for his belt, just as how Florian's belt is printed on his hips. As Phillip's cape technically obscures his black collar in the film, and due to unavailability of grey torsos with cape details printed, I will look into a pure red version of the CMF Series 13 King's capes. I know a good custom cape business that replicates the shapes of existing Lego capes in a range of styles and colours, so it could be done - besides, the cape itself has the same layered effect as Phillip's cape. Edit: So reviewing the Luke torso piece made me realise the black printing does not come out wide enough across the chest to resemble Philip's outfit, and the cape I was looking at may not sit over the front enough to obscure the lack of black printing. May look at another cape if I cannot find a more suitable torso. -

So I'm hoping to "replicate" the Prince Philip minfigure as much as I can from the display set leak. While I've worked out some part, I wanted to get some opinions as to which face printing would best suit. To the left, I tried out the old Cedric Diggory head, and to the right Peter Venkman. I find the Venkman more suited to how emotive other Disney 100 minfigures appear, particularly Aurora (also found that the scared head suits Philip's reaction to Maleficient's transformation), though Cedric's head is certainly more recent and probably more polished in design while having a stern face suited to fighting Maleficient. Any opinions would be much appreciated - or even better recommendations!!! -

I've noticed that with the latest Disney Princess sets that they have reintroduced the Belle hairpiece as plastic, as well as a new hairpiece for Ariel - also in plastic. Does this suggest that we may be getting a minifigure form of the two princesses (updated variation for Ariel) in the ideas set? I don't keep up with stuff regarding mini-dolls, so I don't know if overall Lego is moving from rubber pieces to plastic across all mini doll related sets or they have introduced these plastic pieces for Disney minidolls alone with intentions of minifigures (like how Tiana, Cinderella and Aurora's hairpieces now being used for the minidoll princesses). Sorry if such a dumb question, I'm new to the whole leaks and rumours thing so I just wanted to know how those more experienced with examing these things would go about viewing this 🙂
