hi there, I’ve just finished a scene in Studio and would like to animate a minifigure inside that scene using Blender. While I’m fairly new to Blender, I have several years of experience with other 3D software, so I should be able to pick things up quickly. These are my questions : - What's the easiest workflow for importing my scene Inside blender? Inside Studio, which file format to save as, and do i need an addon for opening that file in Blender? - how good are the textures once imported in Blender (does the model keep any texture at all?) I guess they won't come with the optional scratches and slight discolorations that make the renders Inside Studio look realistic? - Also, any idea where I can get a free rigged minifigure to add to my scene and start some animations? (i Don't need one that bends knees or elbows, or can do textured facial expressions... just the basic minifigure moves) Thanks in advance for any help you can provide :)

OMG, that's it! thanks!

I convinced my lady that investing in the eldorado fortress is a good idea... I told her our boy (3 years old) will spend hours playing with it when he grows up, it'll keep him away from computer games and TV, and none of his friends will have such a cool Lego set. All his classmates will want to become his friends and come over to play with it. She agreed, and I ordered the set, but now she insists that we keep the box sealed until christmas 2024. I'm a bad strategist.

After close to 40 years of pain and suffering, with all my legos in 1 single box, decided a few weeks ago to sort my lego collection, mostly because i have a son of age now, which means our collection is growing again, and i don’t want our boy to waste as much time as I did, searching for that one little piece at the bottom of our box. I easily spent 2 times more time searching than playing. The idea is to use plastic boxes found on amazon with dimensions H=11cm x W=14cm x D=38cm. They come with a lid, and they can be found with 4 removable sub-boxes inside. 6 of these fit nicely into a Kallax shelve module from IKEA. I like the fact that they are deep, with a minimal frontal area. I'll sort my collection by category : bricks / plates / slopes / tiles / etc... I created approx 15 categories, I finished sorting. Next step is to create and print nice visual labels for each box. As soon as i finish, i'll post a little photo of our growing collection.

I'm reading : Star Wars - Thrawn (tome 1) from Timothy Zahn. Already 4 chapters in, it's nice to get some background on this character... I never read anything about him before his first appearance in the Rebels serie. It feels right to get to know him a little bit better before the Ahsoka's serie comes out.

Hey there Thorsten, Well, as I said, I'm not using this for sets that i want to own and build. I'm buying what i want to have, like you... But I'm also investing in Lego for the only purpose of reselling later. And in that case only, I'll use the formula i described above. And I only use this formula to check if i didn't miss something, and to check if I might be going in the wrong direction. Investment should NEVER be done without some researches, and this is my way to do it. What works for me might not work for others. But since Soundvox asked if anyone is using a formula for buying Lego, I felt like I should share my approach. And for the AI part... Everything i tried with AI failed miserably. I leave that for the high tech guys, I'm sticking to things that work for me : good old excel sheets and formulas. Have a good day !

I worked a little bit on this, so let me share what I got. Please be advised that this is only how i invest. I'm not using this for sets that i want to own and build, and of course, it's not financial advise. And it's still a work in progress. - as MAB said, any formula including price per piece will be missleading, and for example favor DOTS sets, and disfavor small sets with a lot of high value minifigs. - Weight per piece could work, but it's difficult (impossible?) to find the weight of the pieces of a set WITHOUT the box, bags and instructions. - I found a 3rd approach which gives me the current value of the pieces per price payed. I'm simply taking Bricklink's current "part out value", and divide it by the retail price of the set. This brings down sets with high quantity of low value pieces significantly (goodbye DOTS). Example : on set 75333, the price is €34.99, and the part out value on bricklink is €73.06. Therefore, the value per price is 2.088. In other words, for each € spent on this set, I get a theoretical value of 2.088€ on bricklink. These are the variables that i included in my formula : v = value per price (described above) p = total price s = longest dimension of the box u = quantity of unique minifigs i = personal interest (scale of 1 to 5) L = shelf live (the shorter = the less buyers = the more value) And the formula bellow... the higher the score, the more likely i'm going to invest in it: if p >150€ then score = 0 (to prevent cash issues) if s >40cm then score = 0 (to prevent storage issues) score = v * ( u+1 ) * i / L Bellow, just a few Star Wars sets with their scores set ID score 75333 16,7 75342 15,4 75345 14,3 75339 10,1 75330 9,9 75301 6,8 75325 6,4 40539 5,6 75334 5,3 75329 1,9 75335 1,7 75317 1,1 75343 0,8 (I like how even with a "bad" personnal interest note of 2/5, the set 75342 found itself at the second place on the list. I need to find a good deal on that one) Use and abuse this formula at your own risk, and don't hesitate to help improving it by commenting. Hope this helped :D

A few years ago I bought Jerac's tie bomber instruction, and all parts from Bricklink. Today, I received the official Lego Tie Bomber 75347. I still did not decide why i purchased it... - for my own pleasure of building a smaller version of Jerac's masterpiece? - for investment? (I got -30%) - for my son, so that he does not play with mine? - to make my wife angry cause Lego starts to take too much space? I'm not sure how long the box will remain sealed.

You're probably right, i should stop dreaming. I checked the first leak again which announced a retail price of 215$. At that price, I doubt there will be any sails in there. But hey, who cares, we're going to get an eldorado fortress
-
What do you think? Is there any chance they'll replace at least one of the two rowing boats from the original set with a small sized sailing ship?

Wall Mounted UCS Imperial Shuttle - but wait, that's not all!

Wonderful display! Imagine this being triggered by an event. Like a light switch, or opening/closing wings depending on time of the day.
