  1. There are some really well done fan edits that compress the hobbit down to like 4 hours total. It's a much better viewing experience tbh.
  2. CMF Tom Bombadil would be rad.
  3. I stand corrected. Teach me to just look at the Google front page ;) I also stand by my assessment of the Lego set potential ;);)
  4. The show now has a respectable 83% rotten tomatoes score, so the review bomb theory seems plausible. It would seem the majority enjoyed it well enough. Like others here, I think that despite its shortcomings, there is a lot there that Lego could work with that would be fun to see, especially at the play set price point. If there was one thing they did well for the most part it was the visuals, and those would translate well. As altair1 said, at least it would give more elf/dwarf/orc/harfoot related pieces and figs to use in other builds.
  5. Fine I'll get started on a MOC ;) Also kudos for the Gondolin and Vingilot references, I am not lore versed enough to have figured those out! I like their inclusion even more knowing that!
  6. Maybe they'll do a D2C bag end with two sets of finishing touches: Bilbo's birthday party and the scouring. Bit like how you can change out the foliage on the treehouse ideas set ;)
  7. Is it though? The LotR wiki says they were likely 14-16 feet tall. Don't have a bigfig handy to measure, but they're plausibly about twice the height of a minifig.
  8. I'm with you there, if it's going to be in a set it should be molded. Same for me with a balrog, ideally I want that in bigfig form. I guess the above comment was if they did a sculpture style set, which would obviously have to be brick built.
  9. You could almost just build that horntail with black pieces instead of brown and call it a fell beast
  10. Looking at the sticker artwork in Rivendell, we see the Isildur/Sauron fight scene, and some have wondered if that's a nod to Barad Dur being next on the docket. IF (big if) the other stickers could be easter eggs too, we see a white city, a boat (Numenorean or elven?), and a scene with two elven smiths. Forging rings perhaps? A harfoot caravan (with the stranger protecting them from wargs) set would be dope too
  11. It's not about superiority, it's about the fun of the hunt. Granted that's a feeling I developed from before the internet era when hunting for rares meant actually being patient and vigilant, and not just opening up your wallet. I guess it is different these days.
  12. HA, fair enough! I was speaking more in general I suppose. Still kicking myself for not getting the little all black minifig with the MF on its chest when that was the give away, but I don't dislike the premise.
  13. I feel the opposite. Having some collector's items with actual rarity is part of the fun of being a collector. In this case since the GWP would literally be a burden to me, I will probably wait for double VIP points instead of buying day 1.
  14. With the possible exception if it bore an uncanny resemblance to their submitted design? (Though even that would depend on the terms and conditions of submitting an ideas design, which I have never personally looked at)
  15. That's the one I was thinking of, I love it. If the official sets hadn't just come back, I would be looking for a way to buy instructions for that one. I can understand that the mixture of scales doesn't work for everybody, but it doesn't matter to me. At some point scale breaks down in Lego no matter what, just because of the system.
  16. Not everyone is a fleshy, there are the 6 statues ;) I'm with you on this one. Part of the appeal is being able to play out the seige in some form, and you can't do that without the walls. Plenty of room in the base of the citadel for a couple interior spaces, even if they don't make perfect sense 'geographically'. For me question #1 will always be does it 'play well' ;)
  17. Yeah i clearly just hadn't paid close enough attention to see it yet. If you pause the 360deg animation on the Lego store website, it looks like there are four of the elvish looking weapon in there.
  18. Gotcha. There's been so much content to absorb I hadn't had a chance to look to close at that part yet.
  19. Why are we assuming that sword isn't meant to be anduril?
  20. Any time there is a new foliage piece I am very interested. Hopefully will be able to get it from pick a brick for a decent price (and maybe in a few colors down the line)
  21. So if you click on this set at lego.com from the icons theme it takes you to "Home -> Lord of the Rings -> The lord of the Rings: Rivendell" So is the LotR theme official back now as that was the argument made against the brickheadz? Just joking around, I don't really care. This set is gorgeous and it's LotR *content* whatever you categorize it as!
  22. The little armory room appears to have several new weapon moulds! Very promising for more sets to come!
  23. Never said we weren't. Only said they weren't in the teaser render. Was quite clear about that distinction.
  24. Lemme try once more. The trees in the leaked image were taller than the pavilion. They would be clearly visible in the silhouette against that bright circle in the background regardless of distortion.
