  1. Much better!
  2. Glad to hear it, I was afraid I'd have to memorize the numbers...
  3. Plan 3001 from Outer Space: replace all authority figures with brain-eating aliens to prepare the stage for Alien Conquest! Well, thanks to Aanchir we know what the numbers stand for; now the main question remaining is: why?
  4. I love your reviews, SirSven7! I hope we won't have to wait as long for the next one! I'm not too keen on the forestmen myself, I prefer Wolpack or Dark Forest as outlaw factions. I find the forestmen too bright and clean, or not rugged enough. Though I guess that in their time they were pretty revolutionary compared to the classic factions. I'm just surprised TLG didn't use the new pirate heads on the figs along with the wench, and waited until Wolfpack.
  5. Hmm, not many trees for a forest setting, and these new brickbuilt trees put the old moulded ones to shame. They should make a tree/plant/vegetation "battle pack" for more scenery! As for animals, I'm hoping for deer (with interchangeable antlers for moose, santa's reindeer, etc), but I don't see it happening, as animals are not the focus here. While I like the new twist on the police sets, maybe TLG should have waited a year to bring them out, so as not to have 2 police subthemes in a row. I'm afraid that next year, when this forest theme is done, they'll unroll another city-based police theme, making it 3 police subthemes in 3 years...
  6. I have nothing to say. I say it regularly.

  7. I can't see any pics either. Shame, based on the reactions, it seems this MOC would be worth seeing!
  8. Very nice, especially the use of dark green plates instead of regular green - it gives an apporpriate dark atmosphere to the scene. Strange to see a couple of mummies in a cemetery though! What's with the 3001/_ names, by the way?

    Experiments

This reminded me of the movie even before I read the text... and I like it all the better for that! A toy story soldier or an Indy Jones Russian would make it even more authentic (if you have those figs or if you were going for authenticity, that is).
  10. Yeah, I learned this the hard way, when i shoved a lightsabre blade into a round 1x1 brick. My dad had to get it out for me with a pair of pliers... (it left marks ) Maybe if they made the torso and small legs one piece, or the legs connect to the torso via regular studs. And the shoulder connections could be like the old skeletons, with the hands and arms also being one piece. But that's just me rambling.
  11. Then again, why not? Just take the current dino theme, replace the dinos with zombies, and we're all set! Or maybe a theme similar to the Van Helsing movies, with some adventurers hunting supernatural creatures?
  12. A link to the 'EB User Groups and Tags' thread in the member guidelines, then.
  13. I don't recall anything about this 10-post limit in any introductory topics, and I've actually read the stuff when joining. I think it should be mentioned somewhere, as a footnote in the member guidelines for instance. I was pretty confused about this myself when I was a complete newbie, and I almost asked the same question...
  14. AFOL: with an "a" like in "apple" or "staff" (though i miht try to change it to ay-fol to adapt to the mainstream) MOC: mock LEGO: mostly leh-go, but sometimes lay-go, vignette/bignette: vinyet/binyet WIP: whip CUUSOO: coo-soh decal: dee-kal (I think that's the standard pronounciation) I don't spell out the letters or say the whole phrase, since these acronyms are easily pronounceable as a word, and it takes less time to pronounce them as such. TLG is an exception, which i spell out, as "tlg" doesn't roll off the tongue as easily.
  15. Here is a pic of the (non)theme.
  16. Admirable entries and worthy winners - congratulations!
  17. [beautiful detail and accuracy - down to the waving flag behind the grille!
  18. Cool MOCs! I especially like the way the roof of the first one bends down in the middle.
  19. Real shame... But I guess we were bracing ourselves for it because of the Joust set. Do you have any info on a replacement theme?
  20. There is an opinion that T-Rex had feathers. Taking the threat less seriously would be inadvisable for any dino hunter. They could have given the raptors some feathery crests and tails at least - LEGO should try to educate the kids though play, instead of perpetuating outdated ideas (give us Vikings without horned helmets!) - though I admit some license is necessary as we dont know even what color the dinos were. Shame the clips are part of the gun, I hoped they would be separate, as in the the ones from Brickarms.
  21. Nice review, Captain BeerBeard, the ship looks a lot better close up than it seemed in the previous images.
  22. I think he's wearing shorts - you can see a yellow stripe on his leg. The bagpiper, swimmer and dardevil look just like I imagined they should look in minifg form! The hippie as well, though a peace sign and pink/orange lens in his glasses would have helped. Though like this his face is more versatile. Hopefully there will be a hippie girl somewhere along the line. My one nitpick is that the eagle warrior headdress should look more organic, as the Aztecs didn't have metal helmets.
  23. These are points I consides important: - The most important thing for me is that reintrodued factions should have the same crest as the original, otherwise I couldn't consider them the same faction. The new falcon shield doesn't make the cut, for instance, that's why I hope the new falcons don't become a new faction - they would have to have the original falcon shields. I would refer to original forestmen and dark forest, whio have the same crests, to show whay I mean. - They should stick to the orginal color scheme, though i wouldnt mind (not that I would have a choice) new colors that repaced old ones, like if Wolfpack had the red-brown and/or dark brown color instead of the old brown, or bley stonework instead of gray. - New elements, like the new great helm, weapons, plants/animals and architectural pieces can be incorporated. - Torsos can be a bit different, like the bull knight keychain – but keep in mind that the wolfpack crest is the same is the same as the original!(incidentally, does anyone know if the torso on this "minifig" can be separated?) - I presume the faces would be different, at least with the sparkle in the eyes, and I'm ok with that (though unique character figures, like Majisto, the Royal Knights King, Basil the Batlord and Willa should be as faithful to the original, if reintroduced). I hope the idea of reintroducing old themes/factions works out, I see plenty of advantages they would bring: - possibly less time and money invested by TLG for development - kids would buy enjoy them the same as we did and wouldn't care that they were remakes of older themes - or, if their parents or oler relations had the old set, they would be able to expand their armies without buying a busload of sets - a good motivation for their parents, too - AFOLs would be more motivated to buy them out of nostalgia - maybe it would even draw some new AFOLs out of their dark ages! And I dont really see any disadvantages - those who say that it would ruin the uniqueness of the originals, or that the sets wouldn't be as good as the originals, are welcome to spend their money elsewhere.
  24. Whoa, I barely make the eligibility cut! Anyway: entry 2: 1p entry 4: 3p entry 10: 1p
