Interesting idea, and well executed. Looking forward to more. The dad seems a bit too clean-shaven for a stone age guy, though!

I understand that the loose leftover contents of the packs is simply waste, with no value to the vendor. Thus, it becomes a victimless crime. Its opening the packets thats the real crime here. If for example, the store could send the leftovers to some LEGO packaging plant for repackaging with the other parts to make a complete CM, and the leftovers would thus have some value, then I would agree with you. I seriously dont see any connection to teaching my (hypothetical) kids to steal, though I would try to teach them to look at the consequences, and not judge things from a excessivelly legalistic point of view. So far, there is no video of me stealing anything from anywhere, but i would feel pretty bad if my future kids saw a video of me, say, ratting out some pot-smoking friend to the authorities because pot is illegal.

I would walk away, unless I had prior good experience with the staff and knew they my complaint would make a difference. Otherwise I would be worried that it would cause me more problems than it would fix. In an ideal world of course, telling the staff would be the best thing to do. And to the guys complaining about how horrible it is to steal a few loose parts, cool it. It hurts nobody, least of all giant retail chain, and thats what counts, IMO. Your indignation should be saved for a worthier cause.

Good job, more animals are never a bad thing. I think two baisc moulds could be enough for the big big cats; 1 for smaller ones (cheetahs, leopards, pumas), one for larger species (lionesses, tigers, jaguars), with a mane for male lions. They would simply be differentiated by color and coat patterns. And why not, a universul cub mould. Im waiting to see what youve got coming next! Supported!

LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 8 Rumours & Discussion

Yeah, Hook came to mind mind as well! Im glad such a torso was finally made. Otherwise, im not too psyched about the golden cutlass, hook or skull on the hat. I just see no point for them to be golden. Anyway, great to see a pic, finally. -
I really like the interiors that you make for your MOCs, they give them an authentic dimension, like a dollhouse.

What's that in the miner's belt?

Gaaah! Way ... too ... much ... pink! (and purple) Someone alert the SPARK gals! Compared to this, LEGO is a generation ahead...

LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 8 Rumours & Discussion

Hmm, I don't think it would be that much of a problem - the surf boards were pretty big too. And on the other hand, the Team GB rider is coming without a horse, so even a cycle-less cyclist doesn't seem too far-fetched an idea. -
I tend to agree, but it's not impossible - look at Ninjago, the first season also only had some four episodes, with four mini-episodes. TLG would be able to do something like this with MF. Then, it's all up to whether there will be a second wave of sets, which I think would be doable. But this is only me wildly speculating. Atlantis also occured to me as more suitable for this treatment than MF, though I wasn't into the line. So, we'll see...

I find it odd that Jack McHammer isnt in the Lab set, since he is the Frankenstein monster nemesis. I also wonder about this MF TV show. If it happens we will hopefully see more waves of sets, as it would seem a waste otherwise.

It makes sense to me, both works are belong to one Legendarium, with shared characters. Discussion of one work would be bound to spill over into the other, anyway. It's rather different from, say, separating Marvel and DC, which have hardly any crossover. It also depends on whether TLG will keep the waves separate or release mixed LotR and Hobbit waves. I actually think that as far as the books, far more people have read The Hobbit than LotR. As for the movies, no mere mortal is familiar with the Hobbit yet. If you want to stay away from spoilers, then, yeah, I guess the only thing to do is to stay away from discussion on the Legendarium. Or better yet, read The Hobbit. Not sure you'll read this, what with avoiding this thread, it's just my general opinion on why keep the topics together.

Shame it's missing the lifeguard (and possibly the diver and swimmer, but the lifeguard stands out). I wonder why TLG decided to release it, and whether there will be more sets like this.

That toy fire truck is gorgeous! More brick-bricks and a wheelbarrow, always good to have. But I wish TLG would stop giving Santa Claus the red bandana, I'd like him to have the gnome hat in red, so I could use it for French revolutionaries. Or go the whole hog and make him a proper Santa cap (and the gnome beard would fit him better too).

I agree, The Hobbit has been discussed in this thread aplenty, anyway.

LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 8 Rumours & Discussion

Exactly. As for the baseball cap, I'm hoping that if TLG decides to make a golfer, they would stick to a stereotypical representation, with tweed and a flat cap, rather than accurate current wear. -
I actually think the new 4-wides are a nice compromise between the old 4-wides and the much too big 6-wides, which were on a completely different scale than the buildings.

The one good thing about a golfer for me would be the stereotypical flat cap, also good for gangsters and working class folk. So I hope a golfer won't get the bagpiper hat/bonnet, which is too specialized IMO. -
Humans attacking/invading others, even in retaliation? That doesn't seem right for LEGO... (Not to mention that the skyscrapers n the background evidently place the setting on Earth.) Though it would be nice if the Galaxy Partol guy was whetting our appetite for a continuation of the theme. It might be that he was only included because the theme was axed, though this hypothesis would depend on how long it takes to develop a CM theme vs when TLG decided to scrap AC. In any case, a successs of the Space Marines on CUUSOO might get them to reconsider...

So long as they aren't specific people, TLG should keep their figs the iconic yellow. Not that it bothers me, since I don't intend to get any of these, I'm just not a sports person.

LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 8 Rumours & Discussion
Ardelon replied to Piranha's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I think there will be no monster CMs because of MF. In series 4, there were 3 monster figs (werewolf, mad scientist, frankenstein monster), while there were none in subsequent series (unless you count the minotaur, which I see as more of a mythology fig). I would say TLG rushed to put all their monsters into series 4 while designing MF, so the MF line wouldnt suffer from people trying to get their hands on the cheaper monster CMs rather than buying the more expensive MF sets. -
Why remove the gold coloring (and ruin the helmet), when you can simply use it as it is, for more diversity among your troops? Even if you want your Eomer fig to be unique, he wasnt the only guy with a decorated helmet.., On a related note, I would suggest using the regular castle guard helmet for common Rohan troops. It has the dark-age / viking feel to it that the Rohirrim have, too.
-
I guess that would mean negotiating a separate license with the Tolkien estate. And as someone mentioned, having a visual reference (the movies) really helps TLG in creating sets; I dont know if there is a precedent in obtaining license of a non-visual medium (or how to call it). But we might be surprised, though Im not sure if this is the thread for this sort of speculation.

Im actually glad the Rohan helmets dont have a hole for plumes. It would look pretty awkward, like on the Prince of Persia helmets. Another alternative would be to have the plume molded onto the helmet, like the CM Spartan, but that would be very limited piece, only meant for Eomer. All in all, I think TLG found a nice balance.

I was disapponted at first that TLG didn't make specialized dark-age longswords with no cross guard, but I guess I warmed up to the gladius in this role. It's much more accurate than the highlander sword. It would have been nice to see some kind of long dagger for the Hobbits as well, but, well, use your imagination! On another note, I'm disapponted that the orc TLG took out of the Orc Forge was the one with an alternative torso print, which I liked much better than the one we're getting...
