  1. Well I finally made a couple. Maybe you will like them. Sorry if I screwed up posting these images. This is classic Johnny Blaze Ghost Rider. I wish there was a better solution between the tiny flame piece and the huge one, but there's not. That Ultra Agents Infearno set should be a perfect solution, though. And here is Sentry.
  2. Good review. I have the old Catwoman set as well, and I have to say the motorcycle in this one is way cooler. I love the stoplight, the boxes and the newspapers as well. New Catwoman has a way better torso, but I have to say that I like older Catwoman's goggles face in conjunction with her mask a little better than the new one, so I swapped heads. Batman's jetpack is pretty great also! Well worth the $13. I am just waiting on the Funhouse to arrive, then I'll be caught up. Having a ton of fun with this line so far!
  3. Thanks for that. I looked in the little cardboard thing but it was not in there. I called LEGO customer service this morning. They were super polite and helpful. A new cape is on the way. Thanks to everyone for your suggestions and for sharing your experiences.
  4. Just opened the Batcave I got several days ago. Opened the first bag to start building... the cape for Batman is the black cape, which is supposed to be in the set for Robin. So I opened the bag with Robin in it, which has absolutely no cape. The first time I've had a missing piece from any LEGO set! I'm trying to navigate the "missing piece" thing in LEGO's website, but it's not great. The element isn't pictured in the set inventory on the site, so I typed it in but can't find a way to click confirm. Hopefully I can call them tomorrow. I don't really know how this works and am super bummed out about the site and just the missing piece. Kind of kills my enthusiasm to build it.
  5. I'm in my mid 20s. Space was my favorite theme as a kid (and as a teenager). Got out of my "dark ages," as you people say, this year. I have to say that the Earth Defense HQ is definitely the raddest set I bought this year, and it rivals some of my old favorites for sure. TLG seems pretty stingy with the minifigs though. I had to buy a lot of those $5 and $10 sets to make sure the beast was fully manned. I love all of the figs that DO come with it-- especially the alien cyborg! The Vic Viper is also one of the nicest small space fighters I've ever seen in an official set. The alien vivisection lab is also amazing.
  6. If anyone lives in a US city with a Fred Meyer, they have the DC Superheroes sets at the regular price (no TRU markup.) I saw all of them but the Batcave and Funhouse last night. Today when I came back Catwoman and the Batmobile were sold out, so I grabbed the Batwing. Going to try the other Fred Meyer locations in town tomorrow! Hope this helps someone.
  7. I lurk way more than I comment, but I definitely had to comment on this entry! You perfectly capture the spirit of LEGO Batman. A cool, creative hideout for Penguin with a fun story and several awesome levels. You do the character justice and you make the LEGO Batman franchise look fun and unique where so many other people just do "dark and gritty" without any of the fun or wonder that make comics so cool. Again, I really love it.
  8. you know, this vehicle is strangely spooky and ominous. it's also pretty weird and psychedelic... I just imagine this thing appearing out of a dark time vortex, the skeleton is yelling about your impending doom, telling you to submit. the ghost tries to get off of the train... but no one gets off of the twisted time train.
  9. So, I bit the bullet. I ordered a Lunar Limo. I also ordered all of the purple/gold parts in either yellow or trans yellow. I'm going to build a Blacktron 1 Lunar Limo for my Space Villain minifig to be chauffeured around in. I am really excited, as this is the first time I've used Bricklink for such a thing. I think it will be a really fun project. I need to find a good substitute hood ornament, though...
  10. Before today I'd only had the $5 and $10 Alien Conquest sets. Today I picked up Tripod Invader, Jet Copter Encounter and Earth Defense HQ. I have to say that I am in LOVE with the Jet Copter. It's easily the most fun build I've done since getting back into LEGO and it ranks among my favorite LEGO vehicles ever. I don't care for the stickers, but without them it just looks so amazing. It's sturdy and fun. Heavily armed. I adore it. The Tripod Invader is pretty awesome also. The alien clinger is adorable. Haven't built the HQ yet. I like the ADU, I sort of think of them as fascist space marines ala Warhammer 40k. Alien Conquest as a whole gets my imagination going pretty well, which is what I ask of LEGO in the first place. I'm really, really impressed. I'll likely pick up the smaller UFO but leave the Mothership on the shelf... it looks pretty unimpressive, even if the Alien Emperor is cool.
  11. oh man! Everything about this is fantastic.
  12. My first sets were Futuron, but those figs and pieces were pretty beat up by the time I really got into LEGO. That was when Blacktron II, M-Tron and Space Police were out. I had small and mid-size sets from all of them. My golden age, though, was made of Ice Planet, Spyrius and Aquazone (who I integrated with space, sort of like the dudes who explored a new planet's oceans). I still liked Exploriens and UFO, but then basically got out of LEGO for years after that. I have really grown to just appreciate all space themes. Blacktron and Classic Space are great, but I think Ice Planet, UFO, Blacktron, Roboforce and Alien Conquest are all just about equally awesome in different ways. Truth be told, the only ones I'm iffy on are the two Mars themes.
  13. I've tried that with some degree of success. I'm new to Bricklink-- but a lot of the stores have a lot limit or whatever, so buy the time I pick out a ton of pieces I found out I just haven't spent enough money and have picked from too many lots. Oh well! Thanks everyone else for your ideas. I didn't think of the sea creatures at all! I'm not sure that I want to directly copy the aesthetic of either Blacktron I or II, I just want to start building and see what happens. My library of bricks is just pretty small right now.
  14. Hi! I've been lurking for a few weeks but just decided to register this morning. I've always loved LEGO, but am just getting into buying some again. Space has always been my favorite theme. When I was very young I had some Futuron and Space Police 1, but my golden age was from M-Tron to Spyrius or so. Anyway, I just recently came upon the Raid VPR, Space Villain minifig and a few Blacktron 1 guys from Bricklink. I want to build a Blacktron starfighter. Can you guys suggest good sets to use for parts? I'd like them to be on the inexpensive and easy to come by side. The Lunar Limo looks like it could definitely work, but then again it's so beautiful that I'd just want to keep the original build, haha. I appreciate any advice you guys might have, you're definitely more knowledgeable than I am. Thank you!
