  1. The next build in the line of my Back to the Future-themed vehicles is Marty McFly's Toyota Hilux 4x4 Pickup Truck. It was the second most impressive car I remember from the movie (DeLorean aside), and it looked really cool with the black raised body, big wheels and lamps etc. There has been quite a few MOCs created of this subject, but I definitely wanted to try and make it myself as well. So here's one more... The build uses only generic parts, and the chassis and the body is built mostly with plates and tiles (body using snot techniques). The cabin fits both Marty and Jennifer inside, so they can finally go take that drive up to the lake, for the important camping trip. Detailed information on parts and build, as well as instructions can be found on rebrickable as usual: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-116403/firefabric/marty-mcfly-toyota-hilux-4x4/ And here's my collection of the essential vehicles from the 1985 timeline as it stands (DeLorean Time Machine, Marty's Toyota Hilux, Doc's Van and Libyans VW Bus):
  2. Ok that is really nice! You have managed to get the proportions correct and I think that's one key point in any Lego model to make it look "right", regardless of the complexity of the building technique. This definitely looks "right", I especially like the landing gear and wing strut designs. One observation though, to me it actually looks exactly like a Cessna 152 instead of a 172, especially in the 2nd picture in the first post (of course they look very similar so this can easily represent either).
  3. Thank you! I have more builds lined up for completion (finishing some details and making instructions etc), but not sure yet what I'll work on next. Any suggestions?
  4. Thanks! The dog is from the 60291 Family House set where it is found in tan: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=69962pb01
  5. I would like to share another Back to the Future -themed MOC I finished, Doc Brown's GMC Value Van. That's the white van parked at Twin Pines mall with the DeLorean Time Machine inside in the initial time travel scene. This is a 12-wide updated version of the one seen in some pictures of my DeLorean Time Machine MOC, that version was only 10-wide and actually didn't fit the DeLorean inside. Now it fits and as a bonus makes a convenient storage case for the DeLorean :) I have created instructions for this one also and they can be downloaded for free from Rebrickable: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-113860/firefabric/doc-brown-value-van/
  6. Ok this was a surprise I have to say! Thank you to everyone who checked out the entries and voted, and of course a special thank you to all who voted for my build! This was actually my first entry into any Lego building competition so I'm highly thankful for the good response, in the company of many nice entries (my favorites were WimDK and teljesnegyzet). Ps. I have been working on an expanded version of my entry and I'll post some pictures once it's completed!
  7. My entry: "Let's do something that really cooks" Theme: Back to the Future
  8. I have been building BTTF themed MOCs for some time now (I like BTTF and I like Lego, what else could I do), so I was really happy to see the new Creator DeLorean set come out (ordered it on the first nanosecond after release). While it's a popular movie/theme with a strong fan base, it's nowhere near something like Star Wars obviously. But hopefully by now Lego has seen how successful the DeLorean has been, as it's been sold out for most of the time after release. So I believe there are many customers who would be willing to buy more BTTF themed sets (other than just me). I also used to think there might not be so much general interest in anything else other than the DeLorean, but I was thinking more in terms of other cars and set pieces. With the popularity of the new diorama sets like the Jurassic Park T.rex Breakout, I also think a similar BTTF diorama set would do well. I'd be surprised if they didn't try it out at least once, if they do, I will be the first one to get it.
  9. Thank you, much appreciated! It has been a challenge for a long time and there would certainly be things to improve on, but this is actually the first version I have made that I'm quite happy to look at on my shelf. Now I can concentrate on other builds, and I have published my second MOC from BTTF which is the Volkswagen T2 Bus used by the Libyans. Already had a little fun setting up some scenes: This can also be found on Rebrickable: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-110233/firefabric/volkswagen-t2-bus/
  10. Thank you! I have also been waiting for Lego to release an updated version of the DeLorean, and meanwhile trying to work on my own. The new Creator version is of course very nice, but it's on a completely another level. In general, the 8-wide Speed Champions is probably my favorite scale for Lego cars, as it is still close enough to be minifig scale but in comparison to 6-wide, allows a bit more options for details and shapes.
  11. Hello to the forum! I have been building MOCs for some time now but haven't posted anything yet, so this is my first post. Most of my builds are directly or indirectly inspired by Back to the Future, and so far I have mostly done various cars in the 8-wide Speed Champions format. The one MOC that I always wanted to make is the DeLorean Time Machine car from Back to the Future, and once I started my MOC building again, I immediately attempted to do that. That of course failed completely, and I moved to something else that felt a bit more possible to do. But every time I finished some other project, I always came back to the Time Machine to see if I could figure it out in a way I would be at least reasonably happy with. I also promised myself if I ever managed to do that, that would be the build I'm going to post. So with that, here is my version after many trials. It's still nowhere near perfect for sure, but I'm finally quite happy with the result. As I'm using the Speed Champions windshield as the centerpiece, the car has no opening doors or any other functionality either. It's more like a standard Speed Champions model car build with as many details as possible, and emphasis on the look and feel of the car. However, it does fit both Doc and Marty minifigs inside at the same time, so it has some play possibilities. The hover conversion is also a fixed setup (no folding wheels), to keep it simpler. I also wanted to try out creating instructions and if you are interested, I made them available at Rebrickable: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-108607/firefabric/delorean-time-machine/ I have made other BTTF themed builds as well, and I am planning to post them in the future (or in the past). Thanks!
