[OFFICIAL] LEGO Icons 10365 Captain Jack Sparrow's Pirate Ship

I was going to try to get this with the GWP but also had no luck, now I'm just wondering if I wait for a (hopefully) Christmas price reduction or if I just get it at it's current price anyway. -

I'm surprised none of these reviewers have compared the new Pearl to the original, but almost all of them compared it to the Endurance. Seems like Lego either told them to not compare it to the original or none of them have it in hand. EDIT: Jay Ong posted a comparison of the original and the new Pearl, the old one is tiny and completely inaccurate but I guess I feel some nostalgia for the charming little vessel. I do like how the sails billow out on the original more too. I also agree with Jay, I miss when boxes had cool artwork on them instead of just plain black backgrounds. https://www.instagram.com/jayong28/p/DN3AUcz3k3T/ https://www.instagram.com/jayong28/p/DN0eF9S3gNw/ I thought the same thing when the rumors began for the Black Pearl but I'm not sure it will happen with these insane price increases now, the Dutchman would definitely have to be bigger, which means more expensive. If anything, I'd love to see some smaller sets, maybe a book nook of the Kraken's mouth and Jack ready to face his doom, or Isla de Muerta. -

Ughh I hate seeing all these people, some who don't even care for the franchise or the ship, getting the set early and for free. Some of these channels don't even have many subscribers? I miss the days where we just waited for actual fans to post their reviews online, now it's all controlled. Anyway, now that's I've had some time to sleep on it and seen some reviews, I'm liking the set a lot more! The shape is truly beautiful, for me that was the most important part and they nailed it, I didn't want something too long as I genuinely prefer my ships to look like they fit in with the Lego aesthetic and not just gigantic, very intricate display pieces. This is essentially a modern version of the video game design which is a dream come true, despite of it being more inaccurate in certain areas. Fortunately it looks extremely easy to mod and the canon mechanism is mostly hidden which is great! The only area which looks like will be more difficult to mod is the rudder mechanism, it looks like it would have to be completely removed if we want the cabin doors to actually lead to the cabin. The red pins holding the rowboat are indeed very distracting but easy enough to replace with grey ones I think. I still don't care for the hull build, especially after seeing that it's not even really attached to anything, it just sort of slots into the regular hull pieces. Would've rather seen more minifigures or a smaller build of Isla de Muerta. Either way I may cave and try to get this with the GWP when it's up for sale and hope to see a Flying Dutchman one day but that would probably be even more expensive! On the subject of the name change I also find it extremely silly that Lego and Disney somehow thought Black Pearl would be offensive. The story behind the Pearl is actually very empowering, originally it was ship called The Wicked Wench that belonged to the East India Trading Company, it was captained by Jack Sparrow and contrary to what's on the internet, it was not a slave ship, it just hauled normal cargo. However, Cutler Beckett wanted to turn it into a slave ship and when he forced Jack to haul slaves, Jack ended up freeing them instead. As punishment, Cutler had the ship burned and sunk and Jack was branded a pirate. Later, Jack struck a deal with Davy Jones to bring the Pearl back from the ocean depths and renamed it Black Pearl, because it had been turned mostly black from the fire was repainted all black and it was also a "pearl of great price" for Jack, who essentially gave away his freedom so the slaves could have theirs. The Black Pearl became the ultimate symbol of freedom for him and the story itself, so it's really stupid that they went to great lengths to not have any mention of the name or the past of the ship in the manual or any advertising because it's supposedly offensive to fans of a franchise that depicts literal high seas criminals as the heroes and has brutal scenes like the opening of the third movie. -

I agree, Pintel and Ragetti, maybe Commodore Norrington, just 3 estra minifigures would've done wonders for the set. Most of these minifigures already came with the older sets and some are downgraded in some areas. Even Cotton which is a new figure has an inaccurate torso print missing the vest and one of the other new figures, Anamaria, is useless as she had like 2 minutes of screen time in the whole franchise, if that. I also don't get why they never brought back the scabbard pieces, I loved those. -

I'm a hypocrite too, as much as the lack of certain details bug me and I'm disappointed about the lack of interiors I probably won't be able to resist the urge to get it, I've actually went ahead and compared it to the video game Black Pearl and it's basically a more modern version of it which I really dig! Again just wish they had included more details, interiors and that the minifigure selection was better. Here's what I'll do, add the tiles on the wall of the bow, add the bell, steering compass and skylight. I also need a monkey since they didn't add Jack the monkey for some reason, guess it's a Disney thing. For the minifigures I'll probably get a bunch of skeleton minifigures and equip them with pirate gear and have them fighting the crew. I originally planned to have Davy Jones and his crew fighting Jack and others but since every minifigure is based on the first movie it would make no sense. -

I like it's simplicity to be honest and that it can be sectioned off into 3 parts and has interiors. The official set definitely has a more accurate shape and I do like the canon mechanism, even though it killed any chance of the designers making interiors. The original leak mentioned it being a display piece and having no Barbossa or Pintel and Ragetti I think? Then at point Barbossa and Pintel were added and in the official announcement only Barbossa is present. It seems like the ship may have gone through some redesigns, the tiny cabin and hole with the treasure chest scream like last minute additions to me. The fact Lego confirmed the name change was a corporate decision made by Disney and them makes it seem like Disney probably had a lot of final say on what they did and what minifigures were added. -

I agree, the official set has a much more accurate and beautiful shape but I could save a lot of money just combining the old set and barracuda with some parts I have. The best thing to do is wait for a discount but even then I don't see any way of modding in interiors with the way they've built it. The interior is probably a ton of blue, white, red and yellow bricks just holding everything together. I think that if someone was to mod in interiors they would have to find a way to redesign the structure on the interior and build 2 decks, also find a way to connect the cabin to the doors leading to it which seems very difficult because there's the rudder mechanism there holding everything together. At the least the tiles on the bow and the bell are easy enough additions, and it's also missing skylight window above the cabin. I know the average person won't care but the missing details really suck, I should not have to add them myself for the price. -

I like Marty and Cotton too but I would've sacrificed them for Pintel and Ragetti, especially since Barbossa is the only villain in the set which is just odd since it's based off the first movie, not the second or third. -

The wall with carved tile patterns are also missing on the area behind the figurehead where the bowsprit is attached, something most MOCers also include, and even the old video game design had. the more I look at the ship the more disappointed I get, I'm almost tempted to just go back to my original plan of taking the original 4184 Black Pearl and the Barracuda and turn it into a Black Pearl with interiors like the brig and Jack's rum cellar. It would be much smaller and also have some inaccuracies but for the asking price I'm finding way too many inaccuracies and not enough interiors. Still can't believe Pintel and Ragetti were skipped in favor of Anamaria and Cotton or Marty, Zoe Saldana said she hated working on the first film so it just makes her inclusion all the more mind boggling. -

It just got announced! https://www.lego.com/product/captain-jack-sparrows-pirate-ship-10365 I have to say I really like the overall shape of the ship but I'm disappointed by the lack of interiors and how tiny the cabin space is. The space for the treasure chest seems like it was tacked on after they finished designing it. Most of the piece seems to have gone towards the canon play feature and the bottom hull which can be detached and is useless if you don't want it. The bell near the helm is inexplicably missing as well as ship's steering compass, which looked like a black box with a mirror in front of the helm. The two rails along the "stairs" are also not present, and the stern is missing the tridents near the top lantern, these inaccuracies are very disappointing for the asking price. I would've preferred that piece count to have gone towards more accurate details, actual interiors and Pintel and Ragetti. The minifigures themselves are ok to me, Jack's torso is weird because it's not blue and for the asking price some of them should have dual molded legs or more accurate and detailed printing but I have pretty much all the Pirates of the Caribbean minifigures I need. I do wish this was based off the second movie so Elizabeth could come in her pirate outfit but oh well. Barbossa looks cool to me, his torso is pearl grey? And he's got the skeleton face printing too. Overall I am mixed on it, I love that they tried to make something that resembles the old video game design but the lack of some important details and paying for essentially the canon play feature and colored bricks for the interior structure leaves a bad taste in my mouth, especially when Pintel and Ragetti are not included. -

I'm getting tired of waiting too, why does every set get leaked with proper images days or weeks, if not months in advance but we get 2 low quality distorted pictures of the Pearl's box and nothing else? Still no official announcement or any teaser for a set releasing in September? The new Harry Potter set also releasing in September just had all it's official images leaked so what gives? -

Exactly this, until a Dutchman comes out or in case one isn't made, I plan to have Jack and Davy Jones fighting on the yardarm, the studs are perfect for that. -

I remember when we had no hope they would ever revisit this license and here we are. I'm sure that if this sells well enough we will definitely see a Dutchman, Davy Jones alone goes for crazy prices and they would be leaving money on the table if they didn't do a Dutchman, the ship everyone has requested since the original line in 2011. For the minifigures I will definitely be adding the ones that came with the original Pearl to the new one, maybe reuse Gibb's old torso for Cotton so he has the vest and have Jack fighting Jones and the rest of the crew fighting Maccus, Bootstrap and Hadras. I might also change Barbossa's head, not really liking how the beard is done on the new one. Another easy way to add minifigures to this would be adding some skeleton minifigures with pirate hats and such, so the good guys are fighting Barbossa's cursed crew instead. I don't like the price but it was predictable, I'll still get this on day 1 as it's a dream come true. -

I hope not, making these very request figs GWP exclusives would be a crap move. Realistically I think this line will have the Pearl, the Dutchman and the Queen Anne's Revenge, I'd be surprised if they make any other ships or sets from other locations. So that doesn't leave a lot of room for Pintel and Ragetti, they could include them in the Flying Dutchman with a rowboat but I think that ship will be filled with Jone's crew and likely Will and Bootstrap, maybe a new Jack with coat and pirate Elizabeth if they base it off the third movie. So they could do a CMF line for PotC, so many cool figs they could do which wouldn't fit in with the other ships. Pintel, Ragetti, Tia Dalma, Norrington, Beckett, Governor Swan, Murtogg and Mullroy, Captain Teague, cursed skeleton versions of Jack and Barbossa and more versions of the main characters and crew members for all the ships. I just hope we do eventually get Pintel and Ragetti eventually. -

I really like what I see! It looks like they were heavily inspired by the original video game design and all the brilliant MOCs people have made over the years. The canon ports look a little bulky, maybe it's a kind of mechanism? The ports near the cabin look like regular flaps. Speaking of the cabin, I really hope they did it well, ideally we should be able to split the Pear sections to get access to the lower deck and the cabin. I hope the other side of the ship isn't exposed, that would be the only deal breaker for me. The minifigure selection is still a bit disappointing but I'm really happy an updated Barbossa is included, and I like Jack too, I have all the Jacks so I don't mind a bit of variety with the new one. I don't care about the name on the box, I'm just happy we're finally getting the ship we deserved back in 2011, it's going to be fun comparing the original Pearl to this one. Hopefully official images are revealed soon!
