  1. I LOVE the lighting bricks in the dark and also your mechanics!
  2. After cross-checking with the plans of her, i am thinking about whether to reduce the height of the gundeck by one brick or not since from the plans the color ratio of black and yellow is almost 1:1 but in my design the yellow to black ratio now with the wetherdeck still missing is already 1:1.(that's a trade off of minifigs standing space to correct ratio) What do you think? http://static.flickr.com/30/50398567_2d4c7a7ffe_b.jpg
  3. 1/4/2012-- Stared working on hull 2/4/2012-- Started lower deck and gun deck 3/4/2012-- Finished lower deck and gun deck, started weather deck 22/5/2012-- Modified broadsides 22/5 - 27/5/2012-- Modify hold and gundeck Most recent update Thats the main hatch and the stairs After watching POTC last year, I was in love with sailing ships, well, particularly the Endeavour featuring in the film. Since then, I've been building up my knowledge of it, from absolutely ZERO at the beginning to a tiny little bit now. I then bought the 10210, and apply what I know to modify it by rigging the whole ship and adding sails et al. By that time, I've always wanted to build a ship of my own and when I finish watching Master and Commander, I just couldn't resist the charm of the surprise so I decided that I might be wanting to build it. As I've never tried it before (except the failed Constitution I've done), I would like to share my whole proccess with you, from LDD to the real deal, to let me have some feedbacks from you.
  4. I did do something to the bottum actually but unfortunately it's still a WIP so I;ll try to get some photos up as soon as it's finished.
  5. I'll try to get some more photos up here so you can refer to them and make your own improvements on these guns.

    10210 MOD

[pid][/pid] 127A Avast mateys!!! I got this 10210 almost half a year ago and when I got it I decided to make it more like a real ship. And after half a year of work(actually only few hours...), I have finished. And now I would let the pictures speak. full view the stern, with new brick build long twelves as stern chasers I've decided to reduce the number of doors and fit 2 stairs. And most importantly the captain's quarters!!! Finally a comparison of LEGO 18 pounders and my long twelves Thanks for watching!!
  7. What an impressive frigate! A little flaw is that the hull is a bit edgy. Kepp it up!
  8. The details are just great, and I like the kitchen most!
  9. What a massive project! Fantastic! I think the ratio is quite good, closer to an actual ship of the line. Keep it up!
  10. Thanks Jack, I finally got your idea and I will definitely work till perfection.
  11. I just couldn't agree more when I read your post, except that I just change the word "Interceptor" to "Surprise". Anyway I congratulate your build. It's a fabulous design with excellent details. The only flaw, like the others have said, is the stern. Can't wait to see it in real bricks!
  12. Seems like I have to "refer" to some of your ideas and techniques for my Surprise. =]
  13. It's nice to see that a LDD design becoming reality. My designs always refuse to do so.
  14. Most epic part of the whole ship.
  15. That's a fierce pirate ship! Keep up the good work!
  16. Happy new year! I've just find out that my part list was finished and I can start to get some Bricklink order going! I think my next update will be somewhere in around 30th Jan. Have a nice year!
  17. Update on stern and gundeck after reading through the site skipper gave me. After this update I think I would start purchasing new parts to contruct the whole hull and interior. Merry Christmas!
  18. Thanks Skipper and Frank, those information really help clear my worries. New design on gunport. Left hand side is the old desing while the right is new. Notice that now the entire gunport window (I suddenly forgot the name for that...)could fit. (sorry for the blurry image ) And the new long nines and swivels.
  19. but here http://www.jotika-ltd.com/Pages/1024768/Research_Surprise_02.htm mentioned that the surprise had Upper Deck ____ 24 Carronades 32pdr Quarter Deck ___ 8 __________ 18pdr Forecastle _____ 2 __________ 18pdr and 2 Guns 4pdr So, which information is true?
  20. Update! I've changed the design of the tumbleholm with reference to Captain Greenhair's tutorial. Here are some pics. What do you guys think?
  21. The floor of the gun deck is removable so I can access the storage. I haven't think about the accessibility of the gun deck . Guess that I need to think of that now. And what is it the technique you have in mind for reference? Thanks.
  22. But i want to have spaces below deck as storage. So would this process occupy those spaces? Thanks=]
  23. Something like captain greenhairs build a frigate?
  24. New parts according to the colour scheme would be ordered when the design is finished.
  25. 19/12/2011--First hull section prototype 21/12/2011--Second hull section prototype 23/12/2011--Gunport redesigned 26/12/2011--Hull design finalized Fresh update! Hi guys This is my first moc in real bricks. I've always been wanting to build the Surprise after watching Master and Commander, and this holiday has just given me enough time to get the ball rolling. This ship is still in design stage. Feedbacks are much needed, thanks! the plan the design, gundeck and storage
