Some a had a few bits missing and damaged boxes. Half price I believe. Kmart in the Palms had Temple of Crystal Skull for $50, so I snapped that up. Anyone seen the Toyworld brochure. They start a sale tomorrow, they have the Technics Handler Loader 8295 for $89.00 down from $150. Buy the way S@H has heaps of new magnet sets. Does anyone want to split some freight costs? 7. Hi Folks...here is an interesting little bit of data I compiled last night. I like purchasing bulk lego rather than sets from auction sites, so last night I went back through a bunch of closed sales information from auctions that I've been watching. There are 47 auctions that closed in the last 45 days - here is the list: The first column is weight in Kilos. Second is Price sold in NZ dollars. Third Column is the price per Kilo. 3.60 $133.00 $36.94 7.50 $205.00 $27.33 3.00 $112.00 $37.33 2.00 $78.00 $39.00 3.00 $76.55 $25.52 16.00 $460.00 $28.75 5.00 $230.00 $46.00 6.00 $211.00 $35.17 18.00 $405.00 $22.50 5.00 $150.00 $30.00 20.00 $405.00 $20.25 4.50 $76.00 $16.89 7.00 $186.10 $26.59 2.50 $101.00 $40.40 1.30 $53.00 $40.77 9.00 $201.50 $22.39 4.50 $300.00 $66.67 2.00 $107.00 $53.50 4.00 $50.50 $12.63 3.00 $165.00 $55.00 4.70 $138.00 $29.36 4.50 $91.00 $20.22 42.00 $1,011.00 $24.07 1.60 $75.00 $46.88 6.50 $109.00 $16.77 7.50 $235.00 $31.33 2.40 $63.20 $26.33 3.00 $51.50 $17.17 14.00 $300.00 $21.43 3.00 $32.00 $10.67 4.00 $152.00 $38.00 5.20 $106.00 $20.38 5.00 $126.00 $25.20 8.50 $172.00 $20.24 6.00 $220.10 $36.68 3.42 $153.00 $44.74 2.50 $30.00 $12.00 12.50 $305.00 $24.40 12.00 $405.00 $33.75 3.10 $75.00 $24.19 1.80 $66.50 $36.94 4.00 $60.00 $15.00 4.00 $61.00 $15.25 3.60 $70.00 $19.44 2.50 $120.00 $48.00 8.00 $180.00 $22.50 5.40 $85.00 $15.74 An average price per kilo is $28.55 NZ - so according to xe.com in other currencies that is: 16.41 USD 19.95 Canadian 11.79 Euro 10.98 Pounds I have all this in a spreadsheet that I plan to keep updating as auctions close.
  8. "you'll be watching me"? FFS! I've been a member here for over a year. There have been a few thousand people join after me. I have a family with young kids and don't have the time to post here every day and get a huge post count. Your rules around the Buy/Sell/Trade topic are cumbersome and rude. Sure this forum is frequented by kids, but the majority of us are adults and can exercise some restraint. Don't give me the heavy handed school-principle threats. It's insulting and not in the spirit of this forum
  9. Hi, anyone in NZ keen to organise a bulk purchase from Shop At Home in the New Year --- Save on some freight charges!! I'm in Christchurch and am lucky enough to be able to courier stuff around NZ for Free. I want to order a bunch of keychains and community worker sets, and whatever maybe on sale in the new year but the $70-$80 freight charge just rips my nightie. So I'd be keen to piggyback with someone. I know that this post should maybe be in Buy/Sell/Trade but there is this weird rule that excludes "new members" from posting there. Maybe a time frame would be more useful than a post count?
  10. Great skin... Makes me chuckle, as we here in NZ are swanning around in jandals and budgie smugglers (some of us, most definitely not me!), whilst slip, slop and slapping. We are of course in the beginnings of SUMMER!!!! Merry xmas, you chilly northerners!
  11. I'm starting to put some of it into 2ltr ice cream containers. I would love to put it all into plastic storage, but I have to get it out and put it away, also I'd have to have a couple of hundred containers if I were to have each piece sorted separately. Unless there is a better way to combine pieces that I haven't figured out!
  12. So 2009 is almost upon us and we are already seeing new sets on the store shelves. But let's not forget 2008 just yet. What are your thoughts on sets released this year? What have been your favourites? Have you been disappointed or pleasantly surprised by any sets? Did you spend way too much? <- bad question, don't we always spend too much!! I have to say the 2008 was another great year, and again I think an improvement over the year before. Down here in NZ we don't get a great level of support from retailers so getting access to a full range is very hard. However I was able to make some great purchases so here are my thoughts. Agents was a great surprise for me. Some of the set design has been very good. The Mission 8 truck is my fave from that line. I'm really happy about the town plan set and of course the new modular sets (yet to get them!) but one thing I'm not happy about is that TLC hasn't really done anything major in regards to their anniversary. It all seemed to go by without much fanfare. The castle revival was most welcome and the addition of the dwarves is just genius! The biggest disappointment for me is the pricing of starwars and batman. Sure Lego has to pay fees for this stuff, but man oh man... prices are a killer. Let's hear your views!!
  13. I think that I could be highly likely that when the new Superman film comes out that we will see a tie in there. With the success of the batman theme and the fact that marvel seems to have gone over to megablocks, it could be a winner!!!!!! The scope for a Superman theme would be outstanding!!! Plus you have the added bonus of doing classic sets and new movie sets. As for minifigs, there are plenty of villains - brainiac, bizzaro, General Zod, and of course Lex Luthor!. And if the tie-ins carry on, there is Wonderwoman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, there is the Justice League also if you wanted to have them all without their own separate themes. Bring it on TLC!!
  14. Here's a bricky situation. I have an almost 5 year old and he loves playing with the lego almost as much as I love buying it!! He loves making vehicles, planes, rockets, battleships, spaceships and anything in between. He can build from instructions - The Airmail Plane was his crowning achievement (I helped on 2 steps). But he loves dismantling them as much as building so we always have lego out. I don't have a massive amount, maybe 20,000 pieces, and I'm not a huge moc'er. So I'm not so precious about what he can play with. My problem is trying to find a setup whereby the kid can play with the lego, but still find the pieces he needs, and then some way of him being able to put (some of) it back. I have toyed with the idea of just giving him one of the blue storage boxes full of his own stuff but he likes to pick out instructions and have a go at making stuff, which I don't want to discourage. Currently I've sorted most of it all into a couple of sizes of snap-lock bags, but now I've got a couple of hundred of the damn bags full of lego and the kid and he snaplocks disagree! Unfortunately, we don't have a big house, no spare room where the lego can stay out all the time and my wife and the vacuum cleaner happen to be my minifigs nemesis!!! So has anyone got any ideas?
  15. best deal ever!!! The Warehouse down here in NZ has had a voucher that enables you to get indy and speed racer lego at half price. Needless to say I've spent up large!! Got everything except the Big Crystal Skull temple and the river chase..missed out on those by about 5mins. Please you guys in wellington don't go filling up trademe with it all!!!!!
  16. Hey Josh. You can enter in all over your sets at peeron and it will do an inventory for you. I only found this out myself a few weeks back!!!
  17. Well I've been lurking and posting the odd thing around here for ages, so I thought I'd better make an introduction. I'm in Christchurch, New Zealand. Unfortunately I hardly ever get to play with the lego I buy, apart from when my son (he's almost 5) needs a hand with something. But I guess for me that's part of the biggest enjoyment! Seeing the vehicles and spaceships and stories he creates is awesome!! I guess it's only since Ethan came along that I've come out of my dark ages, so a few years ago a got all my old lego from my parents and had a look through it. Ahh Memories!!! It was mostly space, and road plates. Not a lot left of it so I hit the internet to top it up. I managed to get a few great deals, a Galaxy Explorer 944 box in very good condition with most of the parts. And another great deal of a big box of assorted space that turned out to be my best find ever. So now I have heaps of space as well as some old school stuff I've picked up online. And, yes once the bug has bitten, you end up spending large on the new stuff as well. So now we have a few batman sets, some castle and plenty of city. All up combined with the old and the new (according to peeron) I have about 20,000 pieces. So, thanks for the great site, keep up the good work!! Cheers, Coldbricks.
  18. Hi there, I kinda agree with you there. I always feel annoyed when lego ditches some sub themes in favor of another sub theme. Why not build on your base. Surely they could have done something to tie the Agents series in a little more with City than the boring rehash of Rock Raiders with the new Power Miners Theme. By the way..how do you get on over there in China with all of the pirated/fake lego around? Is it really obvious?
  19. Hi fellas, Is there a specific thread whereby I can post about stuff relevant to New Zealand? Eg Sales, Trademe deals... etc etc Cheers
  20. Gidday, Down here in New Zealand we only get a few SAH deals... however they are killers on the freight costs so it generally doesn't work out so flash. We quite often get good deals through retailers though, generally 20% of sales though sometimes after xmas a few retailers run with 30% off all lego. There is a big 2nd hand market down here on our local auction site.. go here to spot the good deals.. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Toys-models/Lego-...-0923-1191-.htm But my best deals ever are I bought about 12 of the 5483 Ready Steady Create (690pc). RRP was about $80nz but I got them for $39nz each. I then sold about 7 of them for over $90nz each. But I feel my biggest score was a box of classic space. 928 but no baseplates, and 926 with heaps of parts, 45 mini figs - 95% in mint condition. all up about 4 kilos of good classic space for $30NZ. Cheers, Troy
  21. ah yes in my youthful enthusiasm i missed that it was paret of the "Racers" line. What a shame. There could have ben some cool crossover if it was minifig scale. Surely they would have paid an aweful sum of $$$ for the license, and to risk it on the RACERS?... Maybe this thing is still up in the air, hence no pics of actual product. Must search brickshelf for some speedracer moc's. A minifig of speedracer and racer-x....hmmm
  22. All I've seen is whats in the leaked scans. And that is just a logo. But the could be very interesting if it is to minifig scale. Could be very cool. Have to wait and see!! EDIT by Hinckley: Just want to keep all of the pics in the first thread. Great find, Sam: 8158 Speed Race and Snake Oiler 8159 Racer X and Taejo Togokhan 8160 Cruncher Block & Racer X 8161 Grand Prix Race Thanks to Deinonychus and asmzine.com:
  23. Hey Folks... Good to see that thr best game in the world is getting some mention here! Of course I have somewhat of a bias - being from New Zealand and our little country of 4 million diehard rugby fans have the mighty All Blacks to cheer on!! Loving the World Cup so far! Some of the games have been awesome. Hope some of you make it down to NZ in 2011 as we are hosting it next time...
