  1. Looks great in real life. Shock absorbers in this version seems to be much better than in that very first original LDD file. I wonder how much will push it down the weight of the body. Looking forward to see a video with a first test ride. With all these part you should be able to build also the 4x4 version you designed for TC 2012.
  2. I am, sorry I did not know he would like to participate with a quad bike. No problem to withdraw this entry, if he really meant to participate with that. Gallery allows you to upload multiple entries, but I presume that for the final 10 jury will be more strict and it is very unlikely that somebody will have there more than 1 entry. EDIT: I have just found out that DLuders also posted a quad bike picture in one of his post, so please, let me know if any of you would like to participate with a such quad bike. I don't think there is 4-wheel steering quad bike in real life. But I would not see this 4-steering as a very big problem, since most of the entries propose a vehicles which do not have 4-wheel steering (landrover, tracker, monster trucks...). It quite hard to find a vehicle with a 4-wheel steering in real life. As far as I know usually only very specific working machines have that.
  3. Again a (hopefully) less crazy entry. Do you remember that scene when Carey Mahoney from the Police Academy was riding on the beach? It is still work in progress, comments and suggestions are welcome. Upper part needs some more work and something for the feet should be also added.
  4. It would be great to get the winning entry released with power puller wheels. Most of the creations look better with them. It's tricky to build a body for the challenge with some interior without making the tires look a bit small. This Dakar truck also looks better with larger wheels. I presume also with those Rok Lox 1.9 Comp Tires. It would be nice to see similar tires produced by TLG in a near future.
  5. This time something less crazy than a shark. Still not a crawler. Skidder:
  6. Did you tried to Edit your previously submitted creation? When I did so, the edit was rejected with a message that same or similar entry was already submitted. I just notified them, that I am not adding but editing my creation. Your model is there and is visible to public, so it was not really rejected. Just write them a comment, they will read it. Do not forget to ask them to reject the comment otherwise it will get published. That was the fastest way to get in touch with "the big brother".
  7. Since TLG allows you to submit a sketch or a hand drawn picture of your creation, it is possible to submit virtually anything. It does not make too much difference drawing it by hand or showing some existing body. I personally do not like such entries, because with this high chassis the Land Rover will look much differently so the gallery entry looks much better than will the final product. More over, it is probably branded design so it will not be possible to replicate. In the real life when you install tracks on a quad bike it behaves exactly the same way - it is much harder to steer when bike is not moving. Zblj's creation can look really good as some kind of arctic tracker on winter snow. And it should also perform better on such snow surface than wheeled version.
  8. It will be quite interesting to see how TLG will judge such things, because from my point of view, it is not important if parts are attached to the upper part of the chassis or the lower part. So his entry can be treated as a wheeled chassis with many "extra" parts which can be used to build tracks. Wheels for the summer, tracks for the winter. Of course, rules specify, that challenge is to build a new body and tracks are not a body. But the people like the idea, so I am really curious, because until now did not think that it can be treated as not compliant. It would be good if TLG could reply to each entry if they treat it as compliant or not - they can leave in the gallery all entries but at least inform the creator, that the entry is or is not considered as compliant with the rules. Is it only me not seeing pictures of many entries? It looks like the website does not always loads properly and does not show the thumbnails in the gallery or even pictures on an entry detail.
  9. I would really like to see the rescue/ambulance version in white/red with the engine hood being probably white. With some red crosses and Hipocrates snake stickers. For the ambulance the rear door probably need to be vertical, but it is not important.
  10. It looks to me like the moderators check only vulgarity/violence etc. of the entries, not really a compliance with the rules. It would really improve the gallery if the "valid" (fully or partially) criteria should be the main sorting criteria and only after that the oldest/newest. Everybody would still have possibility to publish his creations without making complete mess in the gallery. It looks like they have also some technical problems since sometimes pictures do not show at all or some dummy pictures are there.
  11. When I saw the teasers, I was really wondering how the front will look like, because already the rear lights looked far better from the standard lights on most models (1x1 round plates :-(). The front really exceeded my expectations. The details and the way you used the flex axles are really impressive. I never used flex parts that way, so it is also a good inspiration for me. The only complain I have is the color scheme. The designer in me likes the scheme as it matches the design style a lot. The commercial part of me however finds this scheme a bit sad. I wonder how the white/red version would look like - something like offroad ambulance or mountain rescue service. With some aditional spotlights on the rear and some trans-blue flash lights on the top, rear, front grille etc.
  12. There is no connection between piston and cylinder defined. This means, that you cannot place piston into cylinder directly - it won't snap there. You have to connect a piston and a piston rod, rotate them to to proper angle to avoid collision with a cylinder and add a cylinder (cylinder has to be connected to some other brick (usually an enigne block).
  13. From The LEGO Group point of view it does no matter if you make such film at home or at store or some public place. You cannot use it to advertise anything nor create any association between LEGO and any product or service. See playfair policy on LEGO website for more info. The difference between at home and at store can be from store point of view. This means that as other suggested you should ask the store for permission. They may ask you to avoid showing they store logo or any associated items to prevent assiciation between your movie and the store. You should get permission also from people that may appear in your movie. Filming kids may be esppecially prohibited.
  14. I wonder how much will TLG follow the winner's design. They reserved a right to modify it, so I am really curious. And also how they will balance different quality of posted designs. Many people do not have enough bricks in right colors so they may post a design from some color mixture they have. Design can be cool but that color mixture can make it look odd and people will not vote for it. I do not expect that TLG will build those 10 models, but doing so would put them on the same start line. Those teeth are like a magnet for copying. Funny is that when I edited my entry do add that wmv slideshow, they rejected it with a message that such creation was already submited. I had to write them, that I am not adding but modifing. Now they allow even completely same (not even recolored) entries. It looks like moderators resigned.
  15. I used POV-Ray 3.7. LDD to POV-Ray Converter will help you with model conversion to POV-Ray format. For shark some HDR image was used instead of any lights (it was some kitchen panorama). For the sharkwler traditional lights were used. I used minimal level of details, since rendering of technic models takes ages with full level of details and I wanted more rendered images. Both were rendered at double resolution, without antialiasing and resized down to 50%.
  16. Technically it is fully copied one of my images, but I presume it is not really meant like a real entry. This guy has 2001 in his name, I presume, he is only 11. He even posted comment on the original creation. It looks like moderators do not want to disappoint the kids posting various creations.
  17. Moon rover is very good design for this high chassis. With aditional pair of wheels and suspension whole body can be more heavy than bodies for 4x4 chassis and so can have more details and functions. I wonder what is the expected final price TLG would like to have for the winning design. If they will sell it as an exclusive set, this gives chance to add one or two more motors and still stay within TLG expected price. The simple design I used to get the power for the motor is actually very weak part of the design since the axle have quite large movement possibilities. In extreme case ruber band or micromotor could be a source of power for the engine. It's pittty there are no gears that can slide freely on axles.
  18. Yes, those are really different types of operations. But many tools do not have separate undo buffers for real and presentation changes (for example also Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 expaning/colapsing a portion of source code is in the same undo sequence as modification of code, so when undoing, colapsing/expanding is also undone and this is not real change, just change of a code presentation).
  19. Yes, you can. Even 6x6 lunar rover should be ok as long as it can be placed on the existing chassis - which most likely means it will be 6x4, with 2 not motorized wheels (unless you add another motor).
  20. Did you noticed that hide/unhide is now included in Undo? When you accidentaly hide a wrong brick it is no longer necessary to unhide all and start hiding again. Just click Undo. Or it worked also before and I did not know it?
  21. It's great the forum is back again. It's pitty that one corrupted daily backup resulted in a one week lost of data. It looks like your provider is overwriting daily backups. Not very nice from him. Backup strategy is usually something like once a week full backup and daily incremental backup. All daily incremental backups are preserved until at least new full backup. So even when one daily incremental file is corrupted and backup is lost, there is a daily backup from previous day. Of course, also more bullet proof strategies are possible. It just depends on the bussiness rules. Transaction log can be also involved in backups (we do a transaction log backup on hourly basis, so in case of "disaster" maximum of one hour of work is lost). Largest production database of one of our customers is about 400GB.
  22. Excelent creation. So many functions in such compact and clean design. It would really nicely fit even into city scale. I wonder where all those wires (6 motors, receivers...).
  23. Performance needs some improvements so that it will be only 1am.
  24. I will check this part - it looks like the location of bottom connection points does not match part geometry. LDD2POVRay uses location of connection points to do some geometry enhancements. In this topic there is a point 7.2 which shows how to add a fog to scene, which helps to hide that line. The other posibilities are to build a box around your model using boxes/cylinders/spheres.
  25. LDD Manager will help you to map your LDD part codes to BrickLink codes. It can even generate a wanted list of the needed parts so you can directly order them from the BrickLink.
