FABUpunk! Mafia II–Day Three, Bad Morning, Y'all
Holbrook Horse replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I have a number of things to consider so bear with me please. I reiterate, why would you think this? As I reread today's comments in the sober light of a heady night (I fell asleep standing up in my barrel!), Bartosz's comment (although about a different post of Corrina's) rings more and more true: Wet's now hawe a fink about de twictew wowes, specificawwy dose endowed wif baby dwagon magic. So far we've had the lullaby, the slumber party, the bath and the bedtime story. On the first night Mobley had the slumber party and might have done something with it, and Corrina gave the lullaby to Benicia. On the second night Franczeska was apparently unable to read her story to Gilford, and Hyacinth hasn't reported in on the baby dragon bath. However, Benicia reports having sung a lullaby to a baby dragon during night one: We haven't heard from anyone who may have gone to a slumber party, and we haven't heard from anyone who may have had a baby dragon bath. The slumber party and the lullaby are up again today so we may be able to learn more about those actions, but Benicia stands out to me as confirming having been the target of a baby dwagon action. This is consistent with Benicia being the Twicktew in two ways: She knows she was targeted by the lullaby because she absorbed the action; She doesn't know what the lullaby actually does because the action had no effect on her because she absorbed the action, so she faked it. And if we had a separate fruit vendor role on the second night, why would the baby dragon roles also have an aspect of fruit vending in addition to their 25% properties? I think Benicia's lying about being told she sang a lullaby. Bartosz keeps assuming the Trickster can't assign him/herself a role. He includes this caveat each time he states it but I think it's an unjustified (and unjustifiable) assumption, considering what I've already pointed out about the rules on this ship. Fortunately he has of late come around: And this again plays into my suspicion that Benicia is the Trickster: It's easily explained if the tracker knows who the vig is because they're the one giving out actions and we can explain the rolewatch on Mobley as luck. Let's now consider Bixby's contributions to the smooth sailing of this ship. On day 2 she announced she had protected Benicia. Parvani asks: As Bixby was scum, she would have known the informational roles were to be turned off on the first night, so watcher, tracker, investigator, voyeur were out of the picture. Rolewatcher is the only risk left, and Franczeska claimed before Bixby did: If Benicia is a scum teammate, why fess up to protecting her? Why not lie and say she protected a townie instead, especially since at that stage there was no risk to her in doing so? I think either Bixby protected Benicia genuinely, or she protected someone else and said it was Benicia after the fact. Benicia would actually know the answer, because she absorbed the action. Parvani has already pointed out how pointless this accusation is, apparently throwing things out to see what sticks. Next she makes wild suppositions about Caladon: Who's "them"? Scum? I'm confused. It looks like more spaghetti on the wall. All you have is a gut feeling... unless you're scum and have privileged information... this reads as a soft defense of Marlowe and (as others have pointed out) inducing WIFOM on Leatrix with the omg-u-suck-for-accusing-someone-else vote. -

The door is left open that the trickster may assign him or herself an action. As Omrom pointed out, the twicktew's magic has grown during the past century and may be better able to blend in. Yes indeed mon ami! You mean you're NOT an NPC? Absolument! -

You could have guessed since I was tight-lipped about it and sent your scumbuddies to turn off all the informational roles. At this juncture I observe I am the only person to have voted today! Really! I did notice at the time but didn't consider that possibility -

it's like a freakin Mexican standoff in here, it's getting my anxiety up. I don't like that I was unable to investigate Marlowe, I don't like that he really pushed against the grain yesterday, like he wanted to avoid the wagons on both Mobley and Gilford, I don't like that he wanted me to spill the beans on my role last night, I don't like how his most substantive answers of the day have been "idk lol gut feeling ya feel me". Certainly keeping an eye on the hippo but think the monkey is in the driving seat so Vote: Marlowe Monkey -

what light through yonder window breaks! Rutherford, good to have you back from Limbo! If we are to believe Gilford is the scum killer then we must believe some other things too, one of the following: Gilford scum-killed Mobley, so Franczeska is lying and is also scum; Gilford targeted himself and the kill got bus-driven to Caladon (wtf why); Gilford scum-killed Caladon and Parvani is lying and also scum; If Gilford is the scum killer and didn't target Mobley then we need to account for Mobley's death - so the vig must have been Caladon. And Parvani has already pointed out the following: According to yesterday's setup, the scum didn't have a rolecop or something so if Gilford Goat had known Caladon was the vig, then someone must have told him. But Caladon was suspicious of Gilford and wouldn't have told him. So we're contriving a convoluted situation so explain how goat-face could have been the scum killer rather than the vigilante he says he was. I tend to believe him. I thought I'd get the most bang for my buck by targeting someone I found suspicious who I thought wouldn't be messed with during the night - so Mobley and Gilford, being obvious targets, were right out. I had a little chat with Marlowe in the night and he came rushing out of the gates to tell me he had a block and wanted me to share my role with him, which I must say did not put me at ease. He backed off when I said I wanted to keep my role a secret until morning. Why else? His supposition that the slumber party involved a chain of blocking seemed ludicrous to me, like he was either trying to muddy the waters or else knew something he shouldn't have, before Mobley came in and gave what I thought was an unsatisfying answer (particularly in the light of Corrina's revelation of a weak protection endowed by the other Baby Dwagon action). No cats on board this ship I want to reconsider the votes from yesterday. I am endlessly glad that Parvani has posted a "for the record" with no commentary and that Marlowe has done a bang-up copy-paste job. Here's what we've got: The case against Hyacinth Hippo didn't seem such a storng one to me - it went "she said there are pros and cons to claiming and she didn't take a proper position". This is true, but on the other hand we had Mobley and Gilford saying what a lark it'd be if we all blabbed our rolls. It's a weak case in my opinion, and one that Leatrix all too gladly (*ahem*) sheeped. Then we had Gilford making a BS vote for Bartosz while claiming he had real suspicions but didn't to tip his hand (pls share soon though)... and Bartosz staying out of the fray by voting for Rutherford. As far as votes for Gilford go, I shared Shainen's sentiments which he wrote in a lovely concise fashion: Then there's fly-under-the-radar Francezska, who reacted equally viscerally to the suggestion of "let's claim for the lulz" and, then Parvani, who said Gilford's claim suggestion was: Like she knew at the time it wasn't a very good vote but couldn't be bothered to think harder. Finally, the voting for Mobley started with (justified) complaints that the mouse was trying to weasel (not very mouse-like!) out of suggesting we all claimed our roles. Benicia had a similar vote, paying attention to Mobley's apparent and simultaneous difficulty and ease with the English language (which tongue has been taken to new heights by the return of our prodigal trash panda Rutherford, praise be!), and Caladon chimed in to agree. Bixby took a different tack: accusing Mobley of hiding crucial role information. Now this is an interesting one because it differs from how Bartosz and I looked at the situation: that there may be more to the slumber party than met the eye but that Mobley himself may not have been privy to that information. Emeric was the final vote for Mobley, observing that he wanted a lynch. What can I take away from yesterday's votes? That Marlowe and Leatrix tried apparently to push a wagon to nowhere and that Parvani voted for Gilford in a low-effort fashion. Others, flying largely under the radar, include Francezska and Emeric. I have strong logic to support Gilford's towniness and a feeling that Shainen is town. Rutherford? Not sure yet but I don't know why he's so keen to think Gilford was the scum killer rather than the vigilante last night. It wasn't analysis, it was a question. The Normalizer could only have been useless if you were confident the holder of the Falsifier action (Benicia) wasn't going to do anything with it. Were Marlowe and Leatrix on to something with you? Or do I smell a bus? addendum: aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa *breath* aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa back to the barrel for me. Emeric, keep an eye out for spiders! -

Could have been worse. if you switched Caladon and Gilford then Caladon got the kill that was targeted at Gilford... either you were successful or you werent, either caladon & gilford got switched or they werent. Taking Francadslfkjxzc;v and Gilford at face value, then scum tried to kill Gillyboy and that means we have a confirmed town yeah? Guess that takes the sting out of my failed investigation on Marlowe. about as wrong as it seems you are about your own night action! mmmm hay, good to calm my nerves. -

Harrrumph! I'm glad that spider has gone away, I was getting worried there for a moment. Barrel didn't protect me all the way so I guess I have to hide in my hay bag as well. Shame about Mobley and about Caladon. Not a very good start got to think more carefully Thanks, bc I originally read this as "defector" and I was like wtf. I guess I'm the third to report in, I tried to investigate Marlowe in the night but was unsuccessful. @Franczeska Fox Omrom said this yesterday: Role watcher's not on the list. -

I think in the library on this ship there's a legend about a wizard called Kyle who invoked a very powerful "ctrl+f" magick. I'm sorry, what makes you think that? When the Defectors took to the skies to found the Western Realms, the stowaway Trickster gave the ship a different setup each day. Why would it be any different here, or do you have inside knowledge? Put the bass in your walk! I wouldn't be surprised if the slumber party has a trick up its sleeve but I also think Mobley has faithfully reported everything Omrom or Wolfrik has told him. wtf? Omrom has told us this: So whoever has each action would target someone (and actually going back to Bartosz';kqwoifjsdg's point, Omrom specifically leaves the door open for additional effects to occur despite what Mobley has apparently been told). -

I managed to make it out of my hidey-barrel. There was thunder and it was very very scary. But it was even scarier because I lost the lid to the barrel so I couldn't keep the rain out! Fortunately it didn't rain in the end but it was a stressful experiences. ...assuming we would. And you know what they say: when you assume, you make an ass out of... just you actually. Is this about the mouse? You said earlier in that post that he's making his situation worse. Are you going to vote for Mobley? Someone else? I know what meme this is, it's the one where it's Bee Movie but every time Gilford posts it's more inane each time Speaking of inane most roles target one person so why would you make this inference???? I've been stuck between Mr. No-I-Didn't-Backtrack and Mr. Pot-Calling-Kettle. But Mobley's candor of late contrasts with Gilford's lack of substantive contribution (speaking of, where's@Caladon Crocodile?) so I'll Vote: Gilford Goat -

If you meant to ask whether everyone should claim, you should have said that. Instead you used the word "surely", and it comes across as a recommendation rather than an earnest question. And you backtracking isn't? I know what you did, you came heffalumping (beware! beware!) into here asking everyone to claim before reading the thread and deciding that wasn't a good move. Also, why do you think we shouldn't try to lynch anyone today? Yeah @Emeric Elephant! Was that a woozle hiding behind the captain? Aaaaiiiieeeeeeeee! -

Not into my barrel please! Imagine everyone claims. Then scum use the switch on Alice, Bob and Carol, and target someone else - maybe Dan or Eve who has a different role. We have a good chance of learning a lot tonight, and the less we share with the scum, the less chance they have of subverting us. -

All the high-value actions at the top of the list Did you even consult the big book? Loved, hated & priest, being day modifiers, can't mess with the night so there's no harm I think in revealing who has what. Very true! But it looks like the trickster assigns at least 13 and at most 21 roles for tonight - so even if someone has something like falsifier and announces that to us today, they might also have a more useful role as well. But don't forget this: Right off the bat the scum get a free "block" on at least 3 roles - and the kill would let them shut someone else up for good. I tend to think that aside from the Falsifier (definitely anti-town) and Encryptor (also anti-town because it only seems to help scum) we should keep whatever actions & roles we're assigned quiet until the morning so the baby-dragon-haters don't get any more information than they need. We can untangle it all in the morning, right? -

Hey! In the process of establishing the Western Realms, did our ancestors colonize the world of Autumn Falls? Having considered the list of actions for tonight, I agree with Bartoszzxcvzxcvxc's assessment that whoever is assigned the Falsifier action should claim ASAP. We'll have to see but the way I read it, it looks like the Falsifier is given a choice of roles to mess with, and the Normalizer will just have to target someone, and if that person has a role that has been messed with, then good. The sheer number of actions for tonight has got me all worried. Anyone up fow a wittle snuggle to make me feel better? -
