    Wow that will be big ;) the wingspan on the TLG T-70 X-wing is quite large. Not sure I'd have the room for something like that. Would be interested in seeing it at some point. Thank you! Was disappointed myself that that all of the resistance minifigs released have be non-descript trooper and not identifiable side characters. So I tried my hand at making my own. It would take a dedicated reworking. There is a lot going on in the area right under the cockpit. The angling for the shape starts at the back of it and squeezes the space to be too skinny for a minifig. I've taken a shot a reworking it and its not too bad. Will try to get some pictures.

    It's not necessarily a pivotal setting or even the most interesting in the movies but it is common across them. There is a number more interesting locations I'd agree. The front is rather sparse. There is probably some smart greebling ways to make it more interesting. Its mostly there because I liked the idea of being able to have the iconic walk up scene in the movie made possible. Originally there was no door at all, but it made the front feel completely non-functional play wise. In fact the first design was completely enclosed and the could be opened up. The front design was simply repeated around the other three sides. But I got more interested in making a playable interior which was much cheaper and interesting than ordering all the tan parts for the 3 other sides.

    I almost always wish my MOCs were bigger do you're not alone in that ;D If only I had enough money. I agree. The temple is really the best locational set for all 3 prequels and would have made a greate ultimate collector's series set for those movies. A good core set of common minifigs plus a number of jedi previously spread out through other sets. And like you said Anakin's own 501st!

    Ask and you shall receive. I received my three 10x10 nets today and was able to replace the single smaller long net with them. Now the proportions of the hangar opening are more accurate and match the T-70 X-Wing again. My LDD design was longer across originally but the shorter piece had compressed it. Also completed the B-4UD loading droid and added my older Sandcrawler GONK droid to the picture (as seen in movie). Have newer GONK coming some time but it'll do for now. Added a picture at the start with a picture of the surface sets together. Actually have replaced the less wide original hangar with one truer to my original design. I replaced the shorter netting piece I had originally with 3 suspended 10x10 nets I received today to do this. Would love to see/try a Starkiller base. Would be interesting to try to take advantage of the set re-use ideas they used for the movies an incorporate the many different shot angles in a simple set. Thanks! :)

    Thanks! :) It is a tricky size to make things semi-accurate but still swooshable. Pretty much finished outside of trying to assemble a couple tertiary characters as minifigs out of parts. I just got parts to finish a B-U4D loader droid and plan to assemble a GONK droid as well. I plan to replace the holo-projection of the Starkiller base with a green trans-parent colored piece. Pretty happy with things as they are now and likely only to add structural things if I make a more detailed (less playset) version. My lightbox for pictures might be a little to small for that. But I may try to get a shot with a few more hangar/tarmac pieces in it at the same time when I take minifig pictures.

    Thanks for the comments! The front definitely could by improved by some stylistic work. The blandness of it is a bit misleading to the design of the rear. I share the disappointment in TLG releasing a Jedi Temple playset. Every release of another Jedi minifig from the prequels served as a reminder that there existed one location where they all were visible and where they interacted. The Jedi Temple is such a core of the prequel trilogy as one of the few locations that is returned to, much the same as the Death Star in A New Hope. The other two are Palpatine's Office which was released and the Senate. Thank you :) Thanks! The ground floor does suffer from the Yoda sizing. The doors should be raised a full brick, however currently that height makes hallways and others a little too cramped. You are correct that the main challenge was that the footprint of the front defined the proportions of the rear it hides. The easiest way to improve this sizing would be to enlarge the front to fill the bottom plates width fully and then resize the rear to match. I admit that part of the reason I never did this was the time invested in the original design made this a challenge I was less willing to undertake. This is a rather good idea. Each of those rooms as a singular scene in the prequel movies. I'll admit to not being able to decide which I'd want to keep. The cramped nature of the Council Room is a challenging balance point. If Lego made a similar model I think they would be unlikely they would release it with all of the existing Jedi minifigs as it is one of those designs that drives people to drive buy other models to "collect them all". The council room in many ways is more playable with fewer seats but of course it is less realistic as well. As it is I only have 10 of 12 seats in my model. The balance is likely enough seats that the included Jedi don't fill them and owners want to collect the other Jedi to fill them but not so many seats that it becomes cramped. At least two fewer in my current footprint is likely a better fit, but I wanted to sit on the Jedi Council members I had in it :) I was proud of the modular design. My original idea was completely enclosed like Russian Nesting dolls and the design transitioned into modular as I opened it up on three sides.

    Thanks for the comments. 1. My original design was actually fully enclosed but two things made me change that design. First, the fully enclosed design was created to use bricks (instead of plates) and I found it expensive to price out the cost of getting the bricks to create it. Secondly, I had a Russian Nesting Doll style to enfold the temple to play with the rooms but it was tight on space. In a lot of ways I actually preferred the original design but the brick cost for the architecturally true design made me rethink things and compromise on the playset style. I also couldn't find a way to fit the landing platform into this older design so I was happy to be able to add it to the playset style. Original Design 2. I agree that the front could use some more detail. I couldn't make myself decide on whether that detail should match the minifig size (to go with the troopers/Anakin's entrance) or be building scale. That indecision resulted in no details sadly which was probably the worse than either choice. Thanks :) That really was my goal. It becomes cost prohibitive to move a LDD model to actual bricks, especially when using colors that I don't have from breaking up other sets (such as tan). So the goal is to compromise on exactly modelling something but hinting enough to allow the imagination to connect the movie scene to the model and increasing playability. Thank you. I was trying to take the Death Star playset and Palpatine's arrest as inspiration for the compromises on play vs 1-to-1 recreation. Probably my biggest disappointment so far for Star Wars Lego is the lack of a quality Hoth base playset. I am looking to see if I can try that next by trying to merge the existing Hoth base sets into a more enjoyable design. Thanks :) I look forward to seeing your version when/if you finish it. I myself was influence to create my own after seeing other designs on Eurobricks and Cuusoo myself. It is cramped for the ground floor. The doors are also one brick to short on the bottom floor. However, I found if I made the rooms taller in made them more cramped in many ways. Cutting rooms is not a bad idea and when I get the LDD posted up here I welcome people building and trying it out. I did try to put the Holocron/Meditation rooms in the back by the temple wall as this is the most cramped position and those rooms are the possibly the more boring of the rooms. The cramped nature is one of the main reasons I transitioned from my original Russian Nesting Doll design to the open back playset design. I posted a picture of this design in the previous response.

The goal was to feature the prominent rooms and personages that appear in the prequel movie clips featuring the Jedi Temple. Most of the Jedi that appear in the the temple during the films have already been produced by Lego and these minifigs have been collected and included. The additional minifigs that are in the most part unique to Jedi Temple scenes include: Jocasta Nu, Bail Organa, the Jedi padawan that defends Bail Organa, and numerous Jedi younglings. There are a couple of council room Jedi who have not been released by Lego. However, the council room in my design only features 10 of the actual 12 seats shown in the film. These 10 seats can be fully occupied by the Jedi Lego has released that are council members in the prequel films. The main architectural feature that is currently lacking is the towers on top of the temple. The playset design behind the front facade meant I didn't find a method to anchor the towers that made me happy.     The result of all the work you've mentioned is quite impressive I agree. The LDD version of the temple itself is impressively accurate given only 2 reference pictures in the book, and so is the x-wing. The x-wing suffers a bit from LDD-itis, in being slightly flimsy, but with a few changes it is now swooshable. As you mention, I haven't actually done much myself and certainly appreciate the efforts of others which made it a breeze to put it together. I am considering the white visor, the open helmet slot results in a look that is off from the one I want. I just need to find something else to get at the same time from that store to justify the purchase. Thanks, that is exactly what I was hoping. I'll try that out, managed to snag the picture in between brickshelf going up and then down again. Waiting on yellow Biggs and his helmet to arrive in the mail this week. I thought about the purist approach and had considered the light flesh head but then decided it wasn't quite right. I like the option of using Biggs' in both a "flight" mode and with the no visor face to talk to Luke in the hangar. Good eye . I added in an attribution of that decal to you with the first post as well. I saw it was designed for a 2x2 but that didn't work for size of my table. So I blew it up. I couldn't see a 4x4 white round tile in bricklink so I settled on a 4x4 dish. Didn't want to use square plates. It does the job. In order to get the sticker to work I had to wrap it from the coloured side to the white side. Then I just pinched the extra and sliced it off. The result is pretty near what I hoped. I am using some cheaper printer sticker paper from Staples that isn't quite clear and even after a few days of drying still lets the color rub off . Waterslide decals are an option to try but I haven't decided yet. More pictures to come when I finally get the 2012 y-wing .

    Thanks You are correct In my opinion is is one of three remaining locations from "A New Hope" which have yet to be suitably recreated by Lego in an official set, which is what made the unreleased set so enticing when they began to release the celebration minifigs for it. The other is the Own Lars moisture farm and a more extensive Mos Eisley Cantina. I added a close-up picture of the Rebel Briefing Room to the first post. I've been waiting on being able to purchase the Y-wing to complete the set with a Celebration Leia minifig and Dutch Vander. The Tie and X-wing made a short appearance and the disappeared from shelves here so it should be soon. That is how I added Jek Porkins. Then I plan add more pictures, so hopefully that works for now. Most of the pieces were surprisingly easy to come by, despite the liberal usage of Tan. I only found the two: the 12x12 Tan Bricks and the 2x2x3 Tan Slopes hard to find. In fact I ended up replacing the previous with the peg version and filing off the pegs. The prior required ordering from Europe to get the pieces in anywhere and the latter required ordering from Europe to get the quantity required. I also had to replace the 2x6x3 Tan Brick with a 2x4x3 and 2x2x3. The X-wing is a little flimsy as it stands. I ended up making modifications to the engines and x-wing laser cannons to make them more sturdy. As well I improved the connection of the wings to the hinges. The result is that is now swooshable .

    Updated with 2 pictures of the War Room, which is now essentially complete. However, at some point I'd like to revisit the sticker for the table and do a better job. Still waiting on availability of the 2012 Y-wing at the moment .

    I agree. After the Death Star, this is possibly the best Star Wars playset, and certainly the best never released . Unlike the Home One or Hoth Base the set is both playable and identifiable as the complete actual entity. Add in an improved x-wing and the set is even swooshable. I have to think the 3 main issues about of why it was not released are as follows. 1. The x-wing is rather flimsy, or at least reverse engineered version I built. It is virtually unswoopable or unplayable without some modifications. Brickdoctor's advent calendar x-wing model appears to be more suitable at first glance http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=62994&st=90 . Although I can't speak to if it is the same size or more sturdy myself. 2. The temple facade, as based on the LDD, can be flimsy and doesn't deal well with pressure on the outer corners. This is mostly ignorable or improvable but can be incredibly frustrating when building it, especially for younger children. This flimsiness is mostly related to the large portion of empty space behind the facade. This is fixable, but likely would come with added cost in the required bricks. 3. Cost. I have yet to total the cost I incurred getting all the parts via Bricklink but I would expect the cost, even for a mass produced version to be rather high. Possibly Tantive area or more to take a shot in the dark. The amount of figs is one of its best traits but would add to the cost. Nevertheless in today's market TLG has shown the willingness to release some impressive collector series and 1**** numbered sets into which I would say this set would fit nicely. I certainly wouldn't hesitate running out to buy it if it was available. I agree I always find it an interesting side note to see what different country creations come from. I must admit I've enjoyed the addition of a Lego store locally here in Calgary. However, I have yet to check it in the new year for the sets I want so I can complete this have come in. Once they do come in and I finish it I will make sure to post many more pictures and a thorough review.

    Thank you very much You are correct those are mostly what I am waiting on, although I am trying to get a sticker of the death star to add in. As well, I am having the personnel carrier driver and Biggs Darklighter delivered from Bricklink. Otherwise it is essentially finished. I do have to mention that the both the facades of the temple and the x-wing are rather flimsy. The rest is completely solid. The facade is not too bad as it is fine as long as it is not disturbed once complete. However, the current design of x-wing wings and engine round parts (don't know their name) fall off too easily it is essentially unswoopable or even touchable. Hopefully, I will report on this more clearly in a review of the finished product. Those are about the only negatives of the set. It would be nice to have a larger x-wing but the current one barely fits in the hangar as it is.

    Hi, Praiter Yed. I appreciate both crabboy329's and your work that helped make this possible, I wouldn't have attempted it without the references and LDD file assistance. I just looked at your Flikr/Brickshelf pictures and wouldn't mind a bit of advice. Two of the remaining minifigs I would like to complete are the Personnel Carrier driver and convert Biggs Darklighter to a fleshy. For an initial attempt I was going to just use Captain Antilles and change Biggs face to the simple orange goggle fleshy. I was just wondering your recommendations, my main problem is that that the normal orange goggle flesh face doesn't have Biggs moustache and I see yours are customs. In many senses it is complete and matches the LDD completely in all but the remaining missing minifigs (2012 Celebration Leia, personnel carrier driver, 2012 Jek Porkins, 2012 gold leader(Dutch Vander), flesh Biggs) and a sticker for the death star in prep room. The war room is complete on the other side and I'll try to get some better pictures when I have time and better lighting. Thanks! I will try to do a much better job of pictures when I get it completed. I've never done this before. It is my first time having to take pictures for posting and I'm just realizing how inadequate my lighting is.

    Thanks, I have been lurking around Eurobricks for a year or two now since the end of my dark age :D I'm not usually one post things but I thought others might be interested in this. I actually completed it to the pictured point in the middle of December but have been busy since then and waiting on the 2012 releases to finish it. Hope to have some more pictures up when it reaches that point plus something of a review. I must admit it's actually my favourite set now, after the death star of course. It is really cool to see it blogged :P, even before I got a chance to post it here. Actually, would have posted earlier but I was tripped up by not having the ability to embed images or urls yet.
