5 years old. Loves lego
-
That’s a great mod! It’s so good to see all the different ideas and mods/Mocs people have been coming up with to both single and dual sets. I rated the set as my favorite build in 2020 and that’s saying something as I finally built the ucs Falcon as well which was epic but the bay was just so much fun also my introduction back into lego as an adult :) I’m hoping we see more this year but for now I’m happy Here’s the entire fleet including some of my childhood pirate sets my 5 year old son now plays with Untitled by LEGO-Dad, on Flickr

@Vouatch Yes I’ve seen that image. Have a look at this. I found this post back on page 6 when in first started reading the thread and based my research around some of the images in these links. This is another link that is also cool as it shows the 5’ model from ANH next to a scale model https://www.therpf.com/forums/threads/my-falcon-in-the-current-fsm.334726/ As you said the grey stripes appear in the Haynes MF manual but not in the movies except for a single frame in TFA
-
Hi @Vouatch Sure here is the set built completely stock Untitled by LEGO-Dad, on Flickr and how it looks at the moment Untitled by LEGO-Dad, on Flickr It’s only subtle changes but it was really the dark grey on on the left mandible that annoyed me as it definitely does not appear in any of the movies except for one frame in TFA, but as I’ve built mine as the ESB version it definitely had to go :) Hope this helps with the differences Cheers Jez

Here’s some photos of my progress. Dark grey on mandibles removed and some of the red panels modified around the fuse and engine area. I’ve just finished my falcon and am slowly trying to get it close to the OT looking falcon. I’ve changed the dark grey on the mandibles to light grey to match the rest of the it and have nodded the engine as well. Just waiting on parts to fill the spot between the mandibles and then I just need to replace some of the tan squares. I’ll post up some photos once I’m finished. I did find a really cool link that shows the 5’ Model and a Bandai PS finished model. It’s really good to see what’s red and what’s dark grey etc. hopefully these might be useful to someone https://www.therpf.com/forums/threads/my-falcon-in-the-current-fsm.334726/

UCS Falcon, It finally came onto the Australian lego store at the same time the double VIP points promotion was running so grabbed it. Saving it to build over my Xmas break

That's a great looking ship! I was looking at my creator ship the other night thinking it could also be a potential base to use in an island wreck. It has the built up hull parts so could potentially be customized somewhat. Looking forward to seeing your Pirate Bay once you have it up

So after finishing my lighthouse addition to the left over bay island, I still had some spare bits so I made an island bar. Funnily enough it actually mates up well with the light house island and gives the patrons a chance to mock and laugh at the prison pier! Great job

That's a great photo showing both rear cabins. I actually prefer the yellow trim around the side window. Would be interesting to see how this would look on the new barracuda.
-
Thanks! I’m pretty happy with it. Have some more bits coming to sit it properly on the sand base plates. Just ordered another Barracuda Bay so will be good to see how it looks next to it
-
Here is what I ended up doing with my left over island. Managed to get a Hidden side Lighthouse at a really cheap price so thought why not try and combine it. Progress so far. Still needs some pirates, a cannon and some other details but overall I'm really happy with it. I also tried to keep it the size of the left hand base plate. I may change this down the track and build the lighthouse base directly onto the sand dunes which would mean a slightly bigger base but for now I'm really happy with the end result considering this is the first time I've tried anything like this as I've only just got back into Lego this year 30 years after last playing with it :) Lighthouse and Barracuda Bay MOC by LEGO-Dad, on Flickr Lighthouse and Barracuda Bay MOC by LEGO-Dad, on Flickr Lighthouse and Barracuda Bay MOC by LEGO-Dad, on Flickr Lighthouse and Barracuda Bay MOC by LEGO-Dad, on Flickr

THE PIRATE BAY IS GOING TO BE AN OFFICIAL LEGO SET!!!!

I’m waiting for stock to come back into the Australian store and I’ll grab a second one as the island display is just so cool but so is the ship! I’ve just picked up a cheap hidden side lighthouse which I’m going to try and build into the left over island I have sitting here -
That looks really good. I’m still staring at my island wondering what to do with it...

Well I finally put mine into the barracuda and boy does it look good. I did make some small changes - Added a fourth cannon and moved these into the left wall so they show when it’s on display. - moved beds And bedside table up front and removed the toilet (for now) - moved the bar table to opposite cannons in centre hull - made a small workbench - removed the door and wall that were entry into main fuse in wrecked form - made a stationary crane and winch - dropped a spare original row boat with original flag into the centre of the top deck - added some old originals like the red parrot and monkey I still have from the late 80’s early 90’s - as my son loves ninjago, it felt fitting that red beard has a gold sword in his cabin. THE PIRATE BAY IS GOING TO BE AN OFFICIAL LEGO SET!!!!

I think there is only one bag for 15. I’m going to convert mine from wreck to ship this week and I only have a single no 15 bag left but also have a heap of spare additional pieces from the build including swords which add into barrels on the ship deck -
Corona - What piratical things are you doing during this time

I’ve actually started back into LEGO after 30 years. Always wanted the barracuda as a kid but couldn’t get one so when a mate told me about the ideas version back in April I thought it would be a good idea...so why waiting for it I did the creator pirate ship, a first order tie fighter and found some of my old sets at my folks place including raft raiders, sentry, lagoon lockup (missing the trees, canon and sails) and a heap of pirate mini figures. My barracuda bay set arrived last week and built it over a few nights which was superb! Will make it into the ship once my additional cannons arrive. Good times for me...not so much the bank account! Need to setup a flikr account to share some pics. Not sure what’s next.....considering a second barracuda bay to have a stand-alone ship and shipwreck set but not sure the financial controller will approve it! -

Fair enough. Hoping to convert mine to the barracuda shortly, just waiting on some extra pieces to arrive for a crane and to raise the cannons up -

Looks great! Love the rearward facing cannons. Any plans to build the tavern from the creator kit and add it to the pirate bay island? -

Just got my shipping notification this morning!! Better clear my evening schedule for the rest of the week :) -
Would you be able to share the other parts you used to create the crane? I’ve got a set coming shortly and would love to add this to the finished ship. Thanks

I’m about to join the club! The LEGO Australia website finally showed stock available so I have just literally placed my order! It’s good timing as I just finished the creator Pirate Ship. Looking forward to building this! My parents couldn’t afford the barracuda for me when they first came out in the late 80’s so being able to buy and build this with my son feels kind of like a bucket list moment :) -
Is this the first photo of the upcoming LEGO Creator 31109 Pirate Ship?
Jez_AU replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
I managed to pick one these up here in Australia and I love it! This is also my first LEGO kit I’m close to 25 years!! Since my heart 5 year old has gotten into LEGO over the last six months and helping him with some builds I guess you could say it’s reignited my inner child! Never being able to afford a pirate ship as a kid I was still lucky enough to have a raft and a few other pirate kits but hey now I’m an adult and can afford a pirate ship I grabbed this one! I’m also looking to get the Ideas set once it is back in stock in Australia as the Barracuda is on the bucket list. I really enjoyed the build of this ship and love how it turned out. I’ve ordered some additional cannons for it so I can have them pointing out on both sides and some other bits like a small ladder to get to the lower deck and also added some additional “accessories” we found at my parents place when looking for more LEGO for my son including some of the gold coins that used to come in the kits. Funnily enough I also found my old Raft Raiders (6261) which was complete as well as a few more chests, lots of swords and a parrot. Either way I’m using some of this to dress up the details some more. The sails look fine and displayed on the shelf the whole model looks great. I’m still keen to get myself the Ideas barracuda set next but I am still super happy with my first pirate ship ? Some more photos. The sharks looks great too
