LEGO Star Wars 2020 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Redroe replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Is it verified, this rumour I hear of Bespin Luke popping up in an advent calendar? That would seem to tell against an exclusive Bespin set? It would also deeply annoy me having sunk a lot of cash to get an aftermarket Luke. But them, as they say, is the breaks. -

Oh, come now. Better pictures incoming, and Ahsoka has the possessed blue eyes from the Rebels version. They're not as bad as the CW demon eyes, but they stick out like a sore thumb. I don't know why they love their wacky eye colours on female minifigs. Off I go to firestar toys to get some custom heads I guess. -
Remake of the last one then. We AFOLs love our remakes! I watched them all on the run up to TRoS, and honestly, TPM does not deserve the hate it gets. There are awful things in it, but the core of the film is solid. Good ensemble cast, climactic battle with uprising primitive natives, bombing run on a space station, and lightsabre duel mixed to perfection. And the much maligned politics section lasts all of 3 minutes. It never bored me as a kid and I didn't feel patronised by it. The script just lets it down fatally. I honestly believe with an accomplished scriptwriter it would be one of the best SW films. AotC however.......

Is it time for LEGO to stop being colorblind?
Redroe replied to BrickG's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Allow me to say what a pleasure it is to see people able to even discuss this topic without descent into angry rhetoric and name-calling. It is a credit to you all. -
Way, way down my MOC list, there is a Jedi Temple with library, records room, council chamber, hanger, meditation room.. but I know I'll never get round to it. Life is too busy. Would make a great set.

Another thought is, other than the aforementioned CC and Jabba's Palace, what sets lend themselves to the MSB format that haven't been done by UCS (Echo Base, Endor, Death Star). Seems like more fruitful pickings in the prequels, and the prequels don't get much love in this Disney era.
-
My wallet just breathed a sigh of relief. But one set in a new series and then stop... did CC really do that badly? The AFOL response was muted to say the least and it wasn't a kids' set, and the figs have started to show up in Advent Calendars, a sure sign that a set has sold badly (Guavian soldiers, Rose Tico...) but still, to end the line after one flagship set, however mediocre, seems like a knee jerk reaction.
-
Has anyone heard any whispers of what might be next in the Master builders line? I skipped Cloud City even though I sorely wanted it, but if Jabba's Palace was in the wings, I'd be outside the shop forcing my money under the locked door. CC just didnt have the value in my eyes, I got hold of the key figures (Luke and Leia, and Lando from the snowspeeder rehash) and made my own scaled down version. And it feels like a Jabba set is about due.

Your build reminds me that I haven't watched this film and I really want to.
-
Padme in her Ep1 battle dress has to be top of anyone's minifig want list, whether they like the film or no. It's criminal that they haven't done it yet, even in the Flash Speeder which would have been the perfect opportunity. As for the rest, a master builder style Cantina or Jabba's palace would do the trick nicely. Garindan, Ponda Baba, or Sy Snootles and Ephant Mon. Some deep fan service characters.

This is very true. Think how many Batmen are now running around stubbing their little toes just so a bunch of generic Imperial officers get to wear boots. -

I often prefer no leg printing, being firmly in the camp that believes SW minifigs started getting too detailed around the 2013 mark, but what galls me most is awful thin white and flesh printing. Particularly on rebel pilots. White belts, vests and straps look pink against orange, blue against green. Compare it to the original pilots from 1999 and its much, much worse. Edit in an attempt to get back on topic: the new Ahsoka, with white lines on her orange face, is going to be interesting from that POV. -

I only use bricklink. It generally has better selections. Used brickowl once, but the item never arrived so that was enough to put me off. Bricklink's search tool is also really good, so I don't generally need to get element ID's. Tend to use google to find out if I need to. -

Outstanding! You're a gent sir. My Falcon won't know what hit it. -
I think that's a great fact, and its quite clear that Lego do pay attention to AFOL builds. The 2012 TIE and its various offspring was very similar to MOCs from the period. But MOCs are rarely going to be adopted by Lego themselves, except through an official route like Ideas. And Ideas SW projects never make the cut.

Actually dark blue is cheaper, probably thanks to the recent Grievous speeder, another set I thought "nah", then realised I hate my CW Grievous when it had retired. I can testify from trying to do my own Cloud City which needs 4 of those parts. Tip: ones with stickers are more common (alien conquest I think). We never see sales that deep in the UK, or not that I have had the good fortune to find. Years since Force Friday became a thing have had a decent sale on Amazon in November time, but the tRoS sets never saw more than a five or ten discount. I would guess Ahsoka will stay a premier minifig for her rarity and relative niche-ness, same bracket as the Rebels figs. -

Exactly, but I think that dire set only sold for Thrawn. Sometimes its better to sink the money on the whole set and at least that way you have some useful parts and can recoup some cost! The last Ahsoka is a prime example. I have the original Ahsoka from a magnet set (back when they were removeable) so keen to get a head that isn't goggle-eyed. -

Ah, good eye. That means I'll be getting 2 so I can mod one. Probably one of those figs that keeps the price of the set pretty high. Sales rarely hit sets with very desirable figs, I've noticed. -

Ah, understood. I won't get my hopes up too much. To get back slightly on topic, I am glad the upcoming Ahsoka seems to be in her grey rather than blue suit, thus tying in better with my Rebels fig line-up. I refuse to drop 150 smackeroos on a single fig on the aftermarket. Thrawn is beyond my reach for the same reason (though Phantoms do pop up now and then). Sadly I wasn't up to speed wjrh Rebels when the sets were available so would be nice to see some rereleased. -

WHAT? (I may be about to go off topic) rumoured Rebels sequel? I am midway through season 4 on Disney+ and not ready for it to end. The best output of the Disney SW area. I've avoided reading any Rebels articles or news in case of spoilers (none here please!) So knew nothing of this rumour. -

Between 2 and 4 quid on BL, and extremely rare. I will be watching this space for when lockdown lifts. -

Fair play. So I wouldn't find a TIE cockpit for example. But parts like the recently introduced 6x4 wedge plates, which are extortionate on BL, might be there. Its actually cheaper to get them from mainland European sellers than UK. Guess everyone's modding their Falcons these days! -

I'm a keen bricklinker - its how I do most of my lego shopping these days. I only discovered the existence of an official bricks and pieces recently and it's still down in the UK. And it sounds like they have new or rarer parts for a reasonable price? Could I expect to find parts from recent SW sets? -

I'd actually prefer a couple of less expensive waves, assuming the cost saving is bumped on to us, as my passion/opportunity for large sets is at something of a low. We are now in almost the first year with no brand new Star Wars content since pre-clone-wars, so I imagine we will see a lot more remakes late this year/early next. -
Me again. So here I have a Tusken Raider fresh from terrorizing Obi Wan's hut (a great little set). He's been out the box for maybe three weeks and decorating my Covid 19 home work bench. Now in that time my one year old has got his fingers on him occasionally and delights in pulling off his head. I'm OK with that but what appalls me is that both the dude's arms and one side of his torso are split, right up to the shoulder socket. There is no possibilty of the baba causing that damage with his tiny hands (Tusky hasn't been holding his gaffi stick - I notice that figs holding props are more susceptible to prying forces). It can only be a poor quality issue, and I am thinking of emailing TLG about it, not because i want a replacement but more to register my disappointment.
