  1. I would love to get the Gryffindor Common Room. However with their current style of making sets, I don't know if we will. They seem to like making recognisable exteriors and lots of interior scenes within them, to add the modular style, rather than what they used to do where they'd have lots of little interior areas that have absolutely no way of connecting to previous areas. In fact, we've already got an albeit very small Gryffindor dorm in the Whomping Willow set https://www.lego.com/en-gb/product/hogwarts-whomping-willow-75953 I think i prefer it this way for the continuity between sets, but it has meant some interiors have been a little small and lackluster. I feel a good example is Dumbledore's office: https://brickset.com/sets/4729-1/Dumbledore-s-Office which was huge and detailed before, but now is almost just a random side thought, stuck in a tower with a stickered background, randomly stuck in the Clock Tower https://www.lego.com/en-gb/product/hogwarts-clock-tower-75948 This makes me worry for getting a decent Forbidden Corridor and Chamber of Secrets set, which I've mentioned before, because it would be hard to fit with the modular style/unimportant consideration of interiors.
  2. I really really doubt that Diagon Alley would be microscale, leaks aside. It's meant to cost $400, the same as Hogwarts microscale. Except Hogwarts is far, far bigger than Diagon Alley. This is not only in length/width, but especially in height. There's like no way they could make $400 worth in a microscale DA. And Hogwarts has tons of variety in structures and rooms. The only way they could make it even fairly large (and still not $400 large) would be to make it super long. Which would just be... odd. Plus they'd have to include very obscure shops with little source material - and many of these shops wouldn't be at all recognisable, even by the big fans who would buy this expensive set. So it'd just be... random shops. Hogwarts, you can be proud to display and show to your friends and they'll recognise it. Some seemingly random shops plus some recognisable Harry Potter ones? It just doesn't make sense to me. To put it into perspective, the microscale Diagaon Alley promo set had 374 pieces and included lots of shops. This D2C can be expected to be ten times the size of this. They never replied to requests for source so probably not. But that does seem reasonable approximate part counts to assume for these sets anyway.
  3. That makes sense actually, the Potter (and Lego) world is a very different one to 10 years (crikey) ago. I find it incredible how much (in my opinion) higher quality the sets seem now than the ones then although people may disagree or be like "quality how?" to which I don't know!
  4. Does that mean it sold less well in the first reboot then? I guess it was because there was no new movie, whereas now all that was needed was Fantastic Beasts to initiate the nostalgia. Yeah, this is what I'm expecting. I think they can do a solid selection of key scenes with this approach though.
  5. I can see them leaning more in this direction from now on, if only for the sake of variety. A question for you all: do you think this theme will go on for many years like the original (well I guess it had a big break and then randomly the OotP castle, but let's say it was around for about 5 years) or do you think it'll be short like in 2010/11? This could be the last wave we get for all we know, but I've seen a lot of speculation on 7, 8, 9 parts of the castle modular. I really hope this is a long-continuing theme with how popular it is, as it'd allow us to get a fully fleshed-out world. Maybe they'd even go the Star Wars route of rereleasing sets every few years for people who missed out (I guess this theme is for people who missed out already!).
  6. I feel like you're giving kinda mixed messages... You want Harry, Ron and Hermione to have a "matching" set of clothes from each film, as though you're trying to make it film accurate, but then you want them to wear the wrong clothes for a given scene in a given set? It makes sense that they'll have Harry, Ron and Hermione in as many sets as possible because they're the main characters that kids will want to play with. But I'd much rather have a variety of characters from a variety of scenes personally, rather than every one having a Harry - like how Beauxbaton's Carriage didn't have any of the trio.
  7. I'm expecting the older Winter Village sets size. Like the Toy Shop.
  8. "The dark colours are the same if you ignore the light colours" Nah I'm kidding, I see exactly what you mean. To be honest as long as there's a variety I don't really mind - they're not gonna be able to put everything so hopefully I'll be happy with what we do get. Or maybe hopefully I won't be happy and my bank account will be safe lol
  9. I can see why you wouldn't want it, since like you say it'd prevent the buildings forming an alley in a modular style. I can also see why it was annoying in a (presumably) smaller set in 2011, since then there's only 2 DA buildings, as Guyon said. But I completely disagree with you saying "it'd take up pieces that could be used on a more interesting and obscure building". B&B is arguably one of the most interesting buildings! I know they wouldn't go quite this detailed, but how can you say this is uninteresting? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gto-pVghjoE Timestamps wouldn't work - but it's at 41:07 and 41:11 Edit: Just saw you say that the stuff inside would still be interesting, my bad. So my point's kinda moot. But I still think that a dark building like this, contrasting the others, is still an interesting addition.
  10. Oh wait I thought you were referring to the 1x1 round tiles. What are the "real" coins? I can't find them on Bricklink. Edit: never mind I see it now.
  11. Oh yeah of course, I forgot those exist! Lol this reminds me of the first time I found a purple stud in Lego Indiana Jones, my mind was blown.
  12. What do they do for money/coins now? Since the 10/20/30/40 gold pieces don't exist any more. I would love if they used studs like in the Lego games - but it'd be bronze knuts, silver sickles and gold galleons rather than silver gold blue. It's things that provide context/continuity like this that I'd love them toinclude - it'd make it really feel like Diagon Alley rather than Diagon Buildings. I kinda hope that Knockturn Alley is part of this set - I mean, they could only really do Borgin & Burkes anyway - even at the expense of a Gringotts shop, since I feel they could do so so much with the interior and details to make it super creepy.
  13. I think you'll get repeated conversations regardless in a thread this long. People who are now joining in (like me) are unlikely to read through all 2953 posts to catch up. Most of the solid, informative info is obtainable from the first page. And even if they did read through the whole thing - it's hard enough knowing what people are talking about already due to the sources of info not being allowed on here, let alone looking back through months of Instagram posts to find a mysterious quote that means very little. I can see why it'd get annoying though. So, what shops do you want to see in the Hogsmeade D2C that doesn't exist even in leakland?
  14. @Crookshanks Keep an eye on this site - https://retiringsets.com/ - if something comes up on their retiring soon list, then look at getting it if you want it. It will retire at Lego.com before other shops obviously, so there would still be plenty of time even when it is listed as "retiring soon" on Lego.com.
  15. We just know we'll always want more since even if it is $400, there's still only so much they can put in!
  16. You're right, there's a lot more recognisable scenes than I thought. The lake would be cool with the tent as well. And then there's the Lovegoods' house, which would be awesome, and would fit with the Burrow and Privet Drive as well. I agree with you about Malfoy Manor. You're also right it's probably a bit early! Yeah that makes sense actually. I guess I forget some scenes in the later films because there haven't been many Lego sets already! Hopefully you're right and they have the Forbidden Corridor and Chamber of Secrets later on, that'd be awesome. I tried creating MOCs but it's hard to get it to fit with the existing Hogwarts set and not start going too complicated! Yes that'd be an awesome way to extend Gringotts! As I don't see the DA D2C incorporating the vast interior that Gringotts would require, and the interior would also work well as a standalone set like the original Gringotts.
  17. On the subject of Deathly Hallows (and Order of the Pheonix and half Blood Prince really), there was very little representation from these in the first reboot (and obviously the original line). Do we think Lego will do the same here (assuming the theme continues for another year at least)? I feel if they do this they'd need a bit of a shift in focus - at the moment, the focus seems to be on a recognisable build and less on a specific scene like previous waves. I mean I guess DH has lots of unique locations as the trio travel around, but I don't feel like these would be as recognisable/sellable to fans and so wouldn't be as desirable for Lego to produce. Edit: I guess Hungarian Horntail, Expecto Patronum, Graveyard Duel etc. disproves my point here but this was definitely true in 2018, where we didn't get anything like the Forbidden Corridor or the Chamber of Secrets.
  18. Brain fart, thanks, edited now lol
  19. I seem to remember reading the Lego Hogwarts Great Hall was the best-selling Harry Potter toy in 2019 (I offer no source or specific location as I can't remember where I read it!). So it's certainly selling well. However I wouldn't be surprised if some of the smaller 2018 sets retire, just to make way for new stuff. It's been discussed on here that the Whomping Willow could retire soon to avoid conflicting with Privet Drive, which is rumoured to include the flying car as well.
  20. Not to state the obvious but that is the beauty of Lego that I don’t think can be applied to any other product - if they don’t make it, make one yourself!
  21. It looks like it's the same lady in this. This is the best DA MOC I've ever seen! Hi! I'm new as well but enjoying all the leaks. I love your idea of doing it in 2 waves - Diagon Alley will never get old but allows for more awesomeness. If I had to pick 5 I'd go with Gringotts, the Leaky cauldron, Olivander's, Borgin & Burke's and Weasley's Wizard Wheezes and , as I feel they're the ones that have had the most impact/significance in any of the scenes, so they'd be the most fun to set up scenes. An expanasion could be Madam Malkin's Robes, Flourish & Blotts and Quality Quidditch Supplies/Eyelop's. The first two still have some significance (Actually I'd say Flourish & Blotts should be in the first list!) and the other two are both interesting shops but without so much source material. The trouble is, there's just so many shops that Lego's unlikely to do them all, as amazing as it would be. Then again it is twice the price of the 2011 version so I guess twice the number of shops (6) isn't out of the question (ignoring inflation). Although then again, Lego's got much more detailed since then (the interiors were actually not that interesting in the 2011, especially for B&B - the 2002 one was more interesting inside imo!) so a hypothetical today's equivalent of the 2011 set of 3 might have more pieces and hence cost more for this reason. I'd probably rather them have more slightly smaller builds than last time so you can set up more scenes - I'd actually say, based on videos only, the 2011 one was a bit out of scale compared to stuff like Hogwarts. Is anyone else with me there? Also I'd rather have a little more of a "street" feeling, rather than 3 completely unconnected builds. Could just be simple things like the little bridge going over the path to Knockturn Alley. I wonder if they'll be modular?
  22. I think it's because i's the entrance to the muggle world. Like, it adds some context to the set, so it's not just a display of some buildings in Diagon Alley, it's a display of Diagon Alley in London. Also it's the first thing we ever see in Diagon Alley. And also I'm hoping they'll do something cool with the brick wall maybe.
  23. Having been annoyed at gaming channels like GameXplain covering the starter set price "leak" (that wasn't really a leak since we already knew about it) not really knowing what they're talking about, and then the comment sections of those videos full of people saying it's too expensive/saying they could buy a game for this (and people who knew Lego explaining that's an unsensible comparison and this is gonna be a large set)... I kinda take it back. Initially the price per part seems awful - it is pretty bad, but there's some big pieces in here and the technology in Mario. So as Jang would say, the "volume of stuff" is alright. But then I take away the Mario and the Bowser Jr and the goomba (which I get are all significant additions, but in a normal set these would be equivalent to minifigures - and you can have good minifigures in a bad set)... I feel like there's basically nothing of interest here in the actual build. The flag and ? block are cool but everything else just seems... uninspired. I get that it's a toy and not a display piece but all I can think of when I see this is "ouch" (re price) and "meh"...
  24. Fab, thank you so much for your help that's exactly what I needed
  25. Hello, nice to meet you! I was never interested in LEGO Trains as a kid but have recently got a couple, namely the Winter Holiday Train and the latest Hogwarts Express. Maybe I'll expand my collection. Hope to see some of your MOCs someday soon!
