Animation test (timelaps)for stop motion video
Dick McJohnnson replied to Dick McJohnnson's topic in Brick Flicks & Comics
Yes of course! What I was meaning is, that making timelaps videos is very similar to making (lego) stop motion videos. You can learn many things about your equipment such as camera setings and lighting conditions. As you can see there is a very slow camera movement in this video, which was not easy to realize. -
This is a timelapse video of a melting popsicle. Beside using iMovie for editing I only used free software. Cheese for taking the pictures with my webcam and avidemux for rendering them to a video. Doing timelapse videos there can be learned many things, first of all to take care for exactly the same lighting conditions for every single frame.

Last week I bought a racing car set from HAWK Blocks, which is the worst fake chinese Lego-like toy I have seen so far. The bricks are of very poor quality and larger than original Lego. So, this i a warning. I reviewed the racing car set on youtube... DO NOT BUY IT!

Good luck to everyone who is trying this. -
The LEGO 7643 Air Show Plane. I am really happy, that I finally got one. It was really hard to find for a good price.

Today I bought 5 of the old NBA-Sets. I am not sure if I should open the boxes. They seem to be pretty old.
-
So... ....here they are! More information on my blog!

Is anyone collecting NBA sets? A toyshop nearby has some of them in stock. (3 NBA players for € 5,--)

What was the last movie you watched?
Dick McJohnnson replied to EbonHawk's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Yesterday I saw "Just Go with It", it was quite funny, but won't become an all-time favourite. -
My energy saver bulbs (Philips Tornado 23W) give me worries. I believe they give enough light. But there is flicker all the time. Could it be of help if I used more than two? (4 to 6). I made this video with my Logitech Webcam Pro 9000 and two lights. I'd like to do more animations, but I am not satisfied with my lighting.

I'd like to see an air ambulance jet. That would be nice. Cannot have enough planes.
-
Is there a good method avoiding light flicker?

Producing brickfilms under Linux
Dick McJohnnson replied to Dick McJohnnson's topic in Brick Flicks & Comics
I am using cheese or guvcview for capturing. Then I render the still with avidemux. The .mp4 files from avidemux can be imported with iMovie on my MAC. -
Is anyone of you using a Linux OS to make brickfilms? I just started with Ubuntu 11.04 and a Logitech Webcam Pro 9000. I am just making some time lapse films and did some animation tests with minifigs (and 3 reviews on youtube using kind of animations). At this time I do not have a tool that supports onion skinning and hd quality output. Posted my first film here. Animation is really poor... ...I'm just starting.

A space shuttle of course! Lego City 3367. And I built my "old" knock-off shuttle.

REVIEW - Cars 2 - 8201-1: Classic Mater
Dick McJohnnson replied to lightningtiger's topic in LEGO Licensed
I've bought the Lightning McQueen (8200) and Classic Mater (8201). Here is a review on the Classic Mater set. I know that license fees are high, but I think these sets are much too expensive. -
My LEGO Mater review (Set 8201)...

Hi there! I'm Dick McJohnnson. Two years ago I recovered all the Lego stuff I used to play with as a child from my mother's basement. I started building my old sets (eg some classic space vehicles and a fire department) and I also bought some new sets like the mid-scale millenium falcon or the new Lego City Space Shuttle. I am looking forward to being a part of your community.
