Pirates Mafia II - Conclusion
Reginald Aston replied to Bob's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Just one question, what is WIFOM? -
Congratulations scum, you have succeeded in getting the town to turn against one of its own. I hope you all will heed my previous warnings after I'm gone. The mob formed so quickly His time came too swiftly That will be the epitaph on my tombstone. For all you scum, I hope the townies find you fast. For all you townies, may you at least not sleep peacefully ever again.

I confess, my biggest mistake was saying too many words. Something my wife will tell you I am guilt of often I could say more, but my words will only be twisted against me. Again.

Really? A random vote from Ethan is okay but a random vote from me is not? Everyone who has said voting on day one is not wise has been ripped to shreds. I agree that voting on day one can be foolishness, but I also see the reasoning behind those who think voting is essential. I'm voicing my opinion on the matter, but still dropping a vote. Again, really? Here's the original post from you I responded to: You quoted Paul, but addressed me. I simply replied to your attack. Why do you think my response was a mistake? You called me out as being defensive. I will certainly defend my innocence, but being called defensive has a negative connotation. I haven't tried to defend my answer to you since it seemed to be another straw-man argument you are so found of. If anything pinges me as scummy, your straw-man arguments are at the top of the list.

Ah, the joys of verbal riposte. As has been said by people besides me, Day 1 is often total randomness: I would like to show direct evidence of this. First, you are assumed scum if you vote quickly: Then you are assumed scum if you don't say anything at all: And following that we have the claim that lurking means you are likely scum: So, on Day 1 you are scum if you vote, don't vote, say something, don't say something or stop saying anything at all. In competition with that mountain of logic I find no way out. So I voted. We may have 0 chance of catching scum, but we also have 0 chance of lynching an innocent man (or woman). The possibility of lynching may keep scum on their toes, but it also forces innocent men to fight for their innocence. I think what we have here is a disagreement on strategy. But as my commanding officer I shall allow you to have the final word... that and I've already cast a vote. When I voted for Odell I voted out of necessity, not out of a desire to see someone lynched. I picked someone who had no votes because I knew he was not likely to be lynched based on my 1 vote. To say that every vote cast is a desire to see someone hanged is cold hearted indeed. We may have traitors in our midst, but we also have loyal friends! I trust no one right now, but that doesn't mean I desire to see them all hanged. I will pick sides as more obvious evidence comes to light. Such as has happened with Morgan.

Wow, more straw man arguments!

I feel no pressure because I'm not guilty. You currently have 2 votes against you which would certainly be cause for feeling under pressure. Your faulty argument that a townie would automatically do something from a sense of pride (classic case of setting up a straw man to knock down and make your argument seem right) is cause for me to be suspicious. Against my gut instinct that most day one moves are too random to be helpful I think I have reasonable proof of a traitor in our midst! Unvote: Kendall Odell Vote: Robert Walsh
-
My intention is was to be assertive, not defensive. Responding to your query seemed to only reinforce a defensive posture. I have nothing to hide. But since no one knows who to trust right now you only have my word on the matter. No sense being defensive since you wouldn't believe me even if I had the most air-tight of defenses!

I find your logic flawed when it comes to voting. It is our most powerful tool, when used correctly! What voting pattern comes from a day one vote? The scum votes for townies, the townies vote for random people hoping to hit a scum. But all it does is give the scum fodder for future arguments about why we should lynch an innocent town person. Voting on completely random speculation (which is all we have at this point) only adds randomness to the voting pattern in future days. I am willing to vote on day one, I just hope that in future days we can look back on my comments and realize that my vote is completely random. Vote: Kendall Odell - because all that clashing is hurting my ears!

Others have mentioned how fruitless it is to lynch someone on the first day. We can thrown around votes and come up with arguments, but unless we get super lucky we won't lynch one of those dirty pirates. We will have one fewer loyal soldier and the scum will be that much happier. A first day lynch almost certainly will benefit the scum, so why are you insisting we vote today?

My sincerest apologies! I added the word "the", then remembered this is a Mafia thread and that I wasn't supposed to do that. Won't happen again Sir!

Wow! I knew the days were getting longer, but I had no idea it was to this extent!

For the Imperial record, I did call into question Ethan's hasty move to vote. But I did so for the well being of the men living within our fort. There are traitors in our midst! We must be 100% vigilant and find these traitors to the Crown as swiftly as possible! Our brave Lieutenant speaks truth when he says that Day 1 only brings about weak reasoning. That is why I cast no vote to begin with. I merely found Ethan's comments worthy of note and commented as such. I am a lowly foot-soldier in her Majesty's army. But as our Governor has seen fit to give each and every one of us a vote I shall use my privilege with gusto! If a traitor seems to be presenting himself I shall attack him with my vote, not mere words.
-
As the proudest soldier in her Majesty's navy I can boldly say there is no flag I love more!

Wow Ethan, so quick to turn on your fellow soldiers! Perhaps you've been on guard duty to long and Redbeard has been whispering in your ear.

But, but, but that would be LYING! I don't know what your mother taught you, but mine schooled me as a youngun to always be truthful. And I could never do anything against my country! If I have failed in my duty let me bear the consequences as a loyal soldier of the Crown.- 39 replies
