Pirates Mafia II - Day Three

This vote analysis doesn't really make much sense. We know there were a few folks who didn't vote and Warren, who didn't vote for Paul. I think it's pretty unlikely that all the scum fell in that group. In addition, I don't see any reason why votes 6 and 7, mine and yours, shouldn't be under increased scrutiny. Yes, we pushed Paul closer to the lynch, but any scum who thinks there's a good chance a conviction is likely is going to consider jumping on that train when they can. Votes also aren't always carefully orchestrated. Sometimes people just have to vote when they are around. Likewise, Zachary isn't town because he unwittingly hammered. That's terribly lazy analysis. The right way to look at a vote list like this is to understand better why the votes were cast...which is why Zachary is reasonably being pressured on his vote's thought process. As for the blocking actions... no way they're all town. Hooray for investigations, too! Vote: Louis Townsend -
Pirates Mafia II - Day Three

A quick run down of yesterday's voting... Warren was the one person to keep his vote off of Paul, choosing to vote for Ethan. Louis, William, and Benjamin did not vote at all. Liam cast an early vote for Paul without much prompting. Vote #1. Arthur joined in next, while Paul was not responding. His vote was followed by Ethan, who switched from William Mitchell (who he also thought was scum) Elijah then cast a vote for Paul, because he had a couple. Robert, who we know was town, cast vote #5. I was next, switching off of Warren for #6. A short while later, Warren is surprised at how fast this bandwagon has developed. Kendall follows with a similar concern. At this point, Zachary comes in and makes a long series of comments about why Warren should be voted for instead, including some of the suspicions that I had. He casts his vote for Warren. Morgan chimed in with a vote for Paul next, but makes a point to call out Louis for being quiet. His comments on it seem like he's trying hard to make a point of agreeing that it's a good vote. Vote #7. Zachary makes a point of commenting and not switching his vote. After Morgan makes a point about not trusting the bandwagon again, Zachary finally does change his vote to Paul. Kendall comes in late and adds his vote to the pile. Warren spoke repeatedly about his distrust of Ethan. Warren, does that continue? Ethan said you claimed early to him... if you distrust him, why did you claim? Zachary, you mentioned that Warren was the person you distrusted the most... did Ethan's comments change that at all for you? -
This doesn't make any sense to me. A bodyguard only causes confusion due to redirection for the killers... when you die instead of whoever you protected. How does it mess up vote analysis? Vote analysis doesn't care why someone died, just that you know their alignment and who voted for/against them. I will trust Ethan's judgement on Warren at this point. Unvote: Warren Pratt Vote: Paul LaPointe Let's see where this goes.

For the record, I think it highly unlikely that we would have two town blockers and a bus driver. If we have two blockers, one is scum. If we have a blocker and a jailkeeper, I'd still be highly suspect of one of them. I don't get the impression that Ethan made up the bus driver, so for now, I believe that role exists. I would have no qualms about voting William Mitchell off, but I want to follow a different tack for now. I haven't seen a whole lot in response to this... although a few folks have made comment. That said, just about everyone in this group of four has said more since. So my thoughts on these folks at this point, in reverse order of last time... because why not? Liam - I don't feel like Liam has done much to change his approach today. He seems more open to the idea of convicting someone, but I don't get the sense that he's really eager to put his mind out there as far as real opinions go. Elijah - He was the person to suggest that this might be role madness, which seems like a bit of an odd thing to jump to. This came up after Ethan announced the bus driver and that he had separately received a block claim. He's clearly paying attention to what's going on, but that kind of leap seems strange after Paul had claimed vanilla. He didn't seem concerned about the vanilla claim contradicting his role madness theory when he first suggested it. Zachary - Far more active today... I feel like he's trying to state how he feels on things and I haven't seen anything that pings me significantly. Warren - Warren voted for Elijah, stating that Elijah was perhaps pushing too hard to defend himself to Paul's reaction, but really it was Paul reacting to Elijah in the same way that Warren is accusing Elijah of. Is this a soft defense of Paul? It doesn't take much for me to see it that way. Vote: Warren Pratt

Why is this still coming up? This seems so odd to me... since when has a killer ever asked a target why they're not dead? I can't think of any reason for any killer of any alignment to do such a thing. It's pure insanity. I don't think we're in role madness, but that wouldn't preclude two blockers. Seems like at least one of them has told someone about their role, so it would be very nice if those folks who have claims can compare those claims safely somehow. It's quite common to have multiple blockers even in normal games. I assume the first part about assuming Ansel dropped dead of his own volition is sarcasm. The pictures tell the story... Also, Elijah, and everyone else... You need to put your reasoning for your vote with your vote. If you talk about something and then vote for someone unrelated, you can't expect that anyone is going to follow your train of thought. Elijah... you specifically think that Paul is lying about his vanilla claim, correct?

Megablocks! Of course, it'd be helpful if you'd tell us your thoughts on things a bit... On the bus driver thing... it's a bit odd. If we do have a bus driver on the town side, then they can be used to foil the scum's plans, but it only works effectively if the bus driver is working with other town PR's. Otherwise, it can throw some monkey wrenches into the whole workings. If the bus driver is scum, what's the reason to claim? I think the main reason would be to get to know town PR's. It should be pointed out that it's entirely possible the scum didn't know about the bus driver at all if the kill was a vig or SK and the scum were blocked. There are actually several possibilities, but to me, the most likely kill on night one is always scum. On Zachary... his reaction to the vote today has been quite a bit more than I would've expected. Perhaps he's a bit stressed out.

Coming back to this, I like this group as an area to focus on if we have nothing else of interest. Warren is trying to be helpful by providing a group to focus on. If he's scum, I'm sure he's hoping that by calling out a group he's a part of, we'll be slightly more likely to ignore him. Zachary I haven't gotten a detailed read on but seems to want us to ignore Robert's role in starting the wagon on Reginald. It was an early vote and the wagon didn't get going for awhile, but he did encourage people to keep it moving forward. He seems committed on his Morgan is scum read. Paul called Zachary out for coming in and voting, then disappearing again. Elijah has been very middle of the road to me. He seems to be saying things without picking sides on them. Liam... I do wonder how much a scum would put themselves out there with their commitment to no lynching even to the point of not voting. I'm still not happy about the non-vote and his lack of willingness to express any real opinions. I want to see more from him today for sure. I'd be curious to hear how others see this group of four. This seems non-committal and Arthur has been flying very under the radar since his face is so squished. I don't know what this is, but at least it's no pirate shanty... I don't think. With all the musicians stationed here, I would be highly suspect of anyone who breaks into a shanty!
-
Liam... it's time to stop hiding behind the flag and start helping us root out some scum. You're the only one who didn't vote yesterday, and the "I told you so" attitude doesn't really help move us forward. It doesn't make you look any more townie, either. Given what's happened, do you want to pursue no conviction again today? Whether or not we convict, who do you find scummy? I agree with this. William's was an odd vote that didn't seem to line up with the conversation at the time. There wasn't much in the way of people talking about Ethan adding to the chaos and then he drops this vote while responding to Morgan. It struck me as a "drop in and vote to avoid suspicion" vote. I think it had the opposite effect. Benjamin's vote for Reginald was also suspsicious to me. He said that Reginald's "initial random vote pinged me", but didn't cast his vote for Reginald until there was a clear bandwagon. Elijah, do you still find Paul the most suspicious? If so, do you think he and Robert were working together to bring down Reginald or do you think one of them is scum and the other not?
-
Why are you pinged but not voting? If someone is pinging your scumdar, you should vote for them. Calling out ping and not voting is trying to hide your suspicions for later. Not voting means that you are unwilling to take a stand, to put your own thoughts out there for everyone to see. Voting on Day 1 is usually spread around, and right now the chance of conviction is very low. Your unwillingness to establish a concrete public opinion is highly questionable and unhelpful. You've been listening all this time and this is what you have to tell us?
-
By that logic we should never convict anyone unless we're 100% certain of getting it right. In the meantime, the traitors will win while we sit idly by. Inaction is not a course for victory. Even if we don't secure a conviction today, the votes can be helpful later... but only if people actually vote for someone they distrust.
-
I'm pretty sure it was a collaborative effort. Prove it! Liam's suggestion of not voting at all is clearly the least helpful thing anyone has said. In the absence of votes, there's absolutely nothing for anyone else to review later with any clarity. I realize you changed your vote later, but this is all sorts of weird. You talk about the townies voting for random people in the hopes of hitting scum, then vote randomly. However, in between, you say that voting randomly adds nothing to future days. You're doing exactly what you say doesn't work for the town. Everyone should vote for who they find most scummy. The vote you cast should be made on the pretense that, if forced to cast one vote that you knew would result in that person's death, that's the person you'd want dead. Yes, we have very little to go on, but the conversation is enough to start figuring out how you feel about some people. You can't listen to all this conversation with the goal of finding scum and come away completely neutral on everyone. If you do, it's because you don't care who dies as long as it's not one of your scummy teammates. It also shows you're not listening. People are picking sides and by human nature, you will agree more with one side than the other. That's just how people are. Vote: Reginald Aston

Morgan's reaction most definitely seems over the top, but squishy face does have red facial hair! Clearly he must be related to Redbeard! Or maybe it's a good/evil sibling type thing like Wu and Garmadon, Cain and Abel, or Luke and Jar Jar Binks.

Pirates Mafia II - Confirmation
Mitchell LaHore replied to Bob's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Mitchell Lahore here. Please don't confuse me with William Mitchell. There's definitely no William Mitchell Lahore... we are two different people. Not at all one person trying to masquerade as two different people. No sir-ee-bob! I don't even know who Ansel Mitchell is, so don't ask... ask him yourself. Also, my last name is not French, nor have I ever been to Pakistan. Those are both nasty rumors that I will not stand for.- 39 replies
