  1. You found a chrome scimitar, you rock! Only the shoulder pouldrons should go over the cape.
  2. Ah good use of the white hulls, that is a decent looking clammer!
  3. I see quite a few topics with questions about making signatures and sigfigs, so why not put them all in one topic? You can post all sigfig and signature related questions in here and i'll merge in some old questions as well.
  4. I says this can be closed.
  5. I have one of these babies and it is one of my favourite ever train sets. Train-tacular it is! Neither did i have one as a child, i only had 1 12V cargo train i shared with my brother. (And unfortunatly we sold that one.) So last year i finally got one in great condition, and even though it is in pieces, i really like it. Thanks for the great review Alex, but.... could you please drop Monique off the platform before she starts to want money from us?
  6. Did it tell you from what time those uniforms are?
  7. Interesting question as to what type of uniforms the overseas troops of the various East India Companies would wear. Ofcourse POTC isn't the most reliable source for historical facts. Before the 18th century there weren't any real uniforms used i think. I know that the Dutch troops were merely hired souls from all over mainland Europe and these would just looks sort of like this (with a variety of clothes and colors): You can clearly see that the conquistador helmet is used and in many cases some breast armor was worn as well. Uniforms were more something of the mid 18th century i think. So anybody else has some ideas or pictures on this subject?
  8. Wow that is a great display, looks like you guys had a great show! Thanks for sharing.
  9. Knowing him a bit, i think he did. Here's one of my most recent pics, at the EB event in Gunzburg 2009, to the left is Bonaparte:
  10. Wow, the lantern design is great! As for the carronade i think the barrel is somewhat small, if you want a more accurate scale you might consider beefing them up. I still think 7 midsections is the maximum for prefab hulls, if you want to go bigger then the Wales i'd make her brickbuild. Also be carefull when you make it more minifig accurate that you don't go too high. I wish you all the best with the project Cap'n!
  11. Welcome to Eurobricks Dave! Looking through your MOCpage i really liked the North Western in there, i also enjoyed watching the series. Did you ever get to build the rest of the boats?
  12. Looks like some amazing architectural techniques in there, nice! I also like the Walruss wash.
  13. Welcome to the forum! Maybe you'd like to share some more with us like what's your favourite theme and can we see your creations online anywhere?
  14. Tough choice, both have their advantages. If you really like allyways then option 2 would be best, but with option 1 you also have an idea of an alley through the black fence on the side. I'd check how people would see it when on display, can they walk around it or not? If not i'd definitly go with option 1, as it has a more ''grand'' look to it. If they do walk around i'd go with 2, as then all the sides will look nice. Good luck on it! Might i ask where you are going to display it? Maybe provide us with some info or a link? Members that are close to you might like to visit the show.
  15. That thing looks wicked! I totally get the fact that you have to make it sturdy, would very much like to see it in action some time!
  16. Those 52 minifigs are overpriced IMO. There are only a few old shako's, there are some of the new soldiers in there, some don't have pauldrons, some have black hips and what is up with that large flag? I think 100$ should be enough for that lot.
  17. Congrats to the winners! This was a tough competition with many great entries, you did really well.
  18. Excellent entries guys, they are all well build and look very lively and classic. I voted for Hinckley, because it looks like it came directly from an 80's catalog.
  19. Boring or not, i think you made a cool model! The lime green is an ok color for these type of machines, the grey colors match with it very well too. People will always build what they like, the PM theme definitly has potential for futuristic builders and can be incorporated into the space theme as well i think. I remember seeing a real truck in lime and i immediatly thought of the PM sets, here's another examplë: So they can be made into the city theme as well.
  20. Congratiulations Slyowl, enjoy the prizes!
  21. Never seen around the world in 80 days?
  22. Yes, start ze machine! We did, you should come next time!
  23. You had better crews, but not faster or better steerable ships my friend. I wish our country was bigger, then you´d be speaking Dutch now.
  24. Your first ships were all made after Dutch designs, so stop picking on the French who definitly had their own design which made far more superior sailing ships. The only thing the British had were well trained crews, which has helped them to victory in many cases ofcourse. And if you search well, there's many images and models of French ships. It's just all in French....
