Hello, The Guard November story has now been posted at http://www.victorhornetcomics.co.uk/guard.html in which we follow our hero on an underwater adventure, diving for treasure. In addition there is a (now late) Halloween short story, originally published in the 2017 Winter Special and which has never published on the web before. Plus, a story from the archives with a bonfire fire night flavour. Apologies for the late update this month, this was due to the webhosting site I'm with, moving its servers and the in the process causing FTP password issues. Now fully resolved. Thank you.

Hello, My first posting about my Lego Comic strip The Guard by me, Banff. Current issue - October 2019, just published is the second part of The Guard's adventures on Seabase Alpha. https://www.victorhornetcomics.co.uk/guard What's it about? It's about the adventures of Albert Copperwaite, a railway guard who fights crime as The Guard! The series also tells the stories of other characters. Quite a lot thinking about it. Which is why I have created biography cards for all of the characters and an index, so readers can check on characters, events and so on. Most of the stories has a Behind the Scenes page, explaining certain points about that months story. Mainly to remind me how I achieved a certain effect and other pointers. The series has been running almost six years now. Gulp! Stories tend to be slice of life, crime, some horror, but always with humour. That is how my brain works apparently when I'm writing scripts. I have to be very disciplined if I'm trying to tell a series story, with little humour. Where is the series based? In the City of Yorkton, England, but also in other parts of the world. For example, Australia, Ninjago City West Central 1953, America, Canada, Jamuda, (a fictional island name using parts of Jamaica and Bermuda to create the island's name), Egypt, the Arctic, Ireland and other locations. The series is set in 1953, but in a parallel time to our own. Why was the series created? I've read comics (British, American, European and Manga) for over forty years and decided it was time to have a go at creating my own comic. One big problem though. I can't draw! After a very, very long think about it, I hit upon using Lego and photography as the art. I'm a big fan of Will Eisner, who amongst other creations, created The Spirit. Eisner enjoyed experimenting in using different techniques to tell a story. And that's what I try to achieve. Badly probably. There's no way I can match the master, but it's fun having a go. Readers who start at the beginning with the earlier issues, should hopefully notice that the stories tend to get better script wise and photography wise in later stories, as I learn on the job, so to speak. Some months it is easy, the creative juices fully flowing, other months I think, AAAAAGHHH! Overall, though it is enjoyable. There are always problems to overcome. For example, I may have an idea about a scene I would like to shoot, but think there is no way I can recreate that using Lego, but surprisingly there is usually an answer. Greetings! Just joined recently. I've been a admirer of this website for a few months now and have finally found the time to join. Like a few other people I wasn't aware of the Lego Comics Forum, which is where I will be mainly posting about my Lego comic strip, The Guard by Banff. That's me. The railway themed strip has been ongoing for several years now, with a new story every month. The idea is to combine Lego with comic practices (as much as Lego allows for this), to produce a 'comic'.
