This series looked better than I expected, I never had high hopes for ones like the bounty hunter, biker, or programmer but they look cooler in these images. Good to see the alternate faces and especially the monkey king looks great, like the torso printing. The dog cleaners hat is from city sets right? Also do we know what the face print of the bounty hunter is. The gamer also is a nice surprise, I knew I’d like the figure but the symbols on his jacket make it great. The rugby player also manages to have some personality. I didn’t realize how much of their prints don’t come through in the grittier images.

That ghostly-like one and the purple one (evil fairy?) look promising! I’m very excited!

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
ToaIruini replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
My guess is a space pirate, or otherwise variation on existing figures similar to the zombie skater. I’m not expecting another Toy Soldier, in fact I’m leaning towards more simple accessories (not a microfigure). The space pirate is optimistic but wouldn’t be surprised for a clown, or lest... a costumed figure. Especially as a ‘celebration of 10 years and 20 series’. -
That’s exactly what I was thinking. Share some for me. As a collector as long as the minifigures are fun and interesting I like them, and I buy a full set anyway. I see some appeal to both sides, I feel sorry for the people who are disappointed (series 17 was a miss for me). Don’t get me wrong I have opinions about these, but I’m just thankful we can get cmf at all.

I almost think that if these were the real series I’d be more excited (as I’m a collector, get every fig).

I agree with you there, having band experience (although I’d prefer blue and gold )

Save some salt for me, what’s so hard about making regular series, I don’t think anyone’s opposed -
Why haven’t I thought of a Beethoven minifigure before?!?! I study classical music. Also, in any future series of yours Robert8, what are the chances we get a new musical instrument?

@Digger of Bricks thank you for the link to interview. But as far as speculation goes what could a new IP they could draw from for a minifigure series? -

I remember an interview like that a while back, but I couldn’t seem to find it. The idea of the designers thinking about a castle of space series intrigues me. (even if I still prefer regular series, the monsters and costumes still had the same charm, just less variety) -

I would welcome a castle series or a space series with open arms, as long they have the minfigure aesthetic. And it would make so many people happy too. Where can I find these designers’ quotes? -

Oh god no What are the chances we get one licensed, one regular, and one themed series like 18/14? -
To be fair you replicate budget quite well, in that you only introduce a limited number of new pieces each series, and make effort to reuse pieces from old series. I’ll agree with you it’s not the same but your minifigures are still decently realistic, which is why many people myself like them so much. You could just stock them to the brim with historic figures that come with new animal pieces (no shots to the people who do enjoy that)

At this point with future cmfs I’d rather be pessimistic and pleasantly surprised than just disappointed over again. I’m still not happy it’s this way at all... -
I’m sad to the reaction too - as I really like this series. They were designed to have something for everyone, and I think this series does well for everyone, even if it’s a bit high on the City figures. But I think it’s creativity is going strong and they still manage to make many fun characters even if the non-licensed are much rarer now. I hope that Lego themselves doesn’t see the reaction critically, as it may give them ideas of wrapping up this theme entirely (a dystopian future for many of us here)

Overall I’m very pleased with this lineup! I’m so happy to finally have another cmf series to collect. There are a couple figs I still need clarification on: #5, is it some sort of hacker? Or robot programmer? #8, is it a fire warden? I can’t see why they wouldn’t just make a detailed fireman, fit for cmf style (like series 9 police) #9 Guy picking up dog poop? I apologize for not understanding some of these - I’m sure more will be clear once they are out. Im just so curious.

I really like this series so far - and I’m glad, because I found series 17 a letdown. It continues the trend of the green series’ always being my favorite, even is green has been done often. I’m very glad to see an official shower time guy, considering it was one the first Ideas I thought would be great, long before I joined eurobricks or saw @Robert8‘s designs. The monkey king... is interesting, something I would have never expected, but it grows on me. The Egyptian fig is welcome, as is the new sci-fi and rugby player, and some of the other ones confuse me for now (flamingo???) I’m curious to see the other 5 and where the dachund will be for. Also, a question, what are the odds these get released early, because I’d like to get some hopefully before September.
