Based on the suggestions in the earlier thread, I bonded parts 41678 and 60483 (part numbers as per Studio 2 software listings) bonded with JB Plasticweld resin putty and used a jig based on the more complex design to locate the parts accurately. I then used a disc sander to remove the unwanted part of the 1x2 beam to produce the result shown below. Works a treat!

Has anyone tried to motorise this large turntable. It is approximately 60mm diameter compared with the standard, smaller, 55mm turntable but I cannot find a gear combination that lines up with the standard beam hole spacing. Help please!
