  1. I'd love a Middle Earth theme with the amount of effort they put into the HP theme. Yearly waves with smaller and bigger sets, some D2C's and a CFM. It's certainly doable and wanted by fans.
  2. I just checked the LEGO site and noticed the advertisement for the GWP's are no longer there. Does that mean the promo is done? (probably due to being sold out)
  3. Is there any chance my MBoM could be cancelled? I ordered DA on 1 January, but it's backordered. The MBoM Is included in the order, do they keep it aside because I ordered early even though it probably won't be delivered for another two weeks or so? I haven't had to deal with backorders before so don't know how it'll work exactly.
  4. So, for the MBoM being available on SaH, will it be a GwP? Or can we just buy it? I want to buy Diagon Alley as soon as it is back in stock and if it's before 1 January, I don't want to miss out on MBoM (have all the other HP sets already).
  5. I agree I'd rather no remakes, especially since it's been maximum 2-3 years since the first ones and I don't want it to become star wars and release the same sets with minor differences every three years. I am not a fan of the random castle-like exteriors though, The Whomping Willow set is probably one of my least favourites, mainly due to the rather lacklustre exterior that vaguely resembles a part of the castle from the films. Yes, I'd also like them to redo the Grand Staircase Tower, though I don't know how they'd make it able to fit the great hall from 2018. But it does need an update. I am doubtful of the other Hogwarts parts though. I see lots of people mentioning the bell towers, but they really aren't that prominent in the films in terms of events. Harry flies by them on Buckbeak and we see them ring in GoF, but that's about it (that I can remember). They're a part of the silhouette of Hogwarts of course, I just don't see what events they'd depict as interiors, they probably won't do random interiors. They always try to fit in rooms where events from the books and films take place. Maybe they can set Moaning Myrtle's Bathroom in there or something. Don't get me wrong, I'm not denying that they could make the Belltowers and so on. I'm just trying to think about it with how LEGO made the other Hogwarts parts and I kinda think we had all the main parts already (Great Hall, Clocktower, Astronomy tower). They could definitely do random bits that don't really resemble a certain part of Hogwarts and fill it with random interiors, a bit like the Whomping Willow set. I just like the ones more that look like iconic pieces of the castle.
  6. I do think LEGO has enough things left to make sets from for HP for at least a few more years after next year (protections for the P.S., CoS, Shrieking Shack, 2nd task, Durmstrang Ship, Department of Mysteries, 12 Grimmauld Place, Horcrux cave, and so on). I'm just wondering whether they'd remake some Hogwarts sets to have that tradition of 1 part of Hogwarts per year continue or not. I doubt there's much more of Hogwarts they're able to make after next year.
  7. I think some people might have done this as well, but I ordered these smoke pieces from the LEGO Hidden Side line and have to say they work great as the flying smoke for HP. I also used it with Credence from FB and think it works here as well. With Mysterio getting his own green smoke for the Spiderman set, I hope we'll see some too in the DH line next year, would be awes
  8. Perhaps Gringotts will replace the slot usually preserved for the Hogwarts expansion, since there's no real big part of the castle to be added connected to the last two films. The final duel can probably be a smaller set and there's no place for the altered viaduct from the DH.
  9. Did the microscale Hogwarts sell out quickly when it was released? I remember getting it quite early on (maybe ordering it a week or two after release), I don't remember it being out of stock.
  10. Was it? I only saw it at Fun, I thought they had some sort of deal with LEGO. Like getting some of those store exclusives and so on. Never saw the castle in any other shop, at least where I live.
  11. I don't get why people are complaining about Lockhart's hair, the piece is great, the colour could be a bit more blonde, but the piece matches quite well.
  12. I honestly am quite content with the minifigures, I only wished they'd have given us some new mould for Lucius' cane, seems like it's just a stick... For the CoS torso print for Harry, could be they decided to cancel that torso for the more accurate cloak version (he wore a cloak in the scene). Or we're getting a Borgin and Burkes set separately like the Gringotts set and that Harry will be included with that one.
  13. I'm still not a fan of these rendered images, they always feel off (hair pieces in particular). I'd rather they just use photos.
  14. I'm kinda bummed that Gringotts isn't included (will probably be the big set for the next wave with the Dragon Escape), I just hope that when they do release it, it'll fit in with the the D2C.
  15. I made a quick edit with what you provided. This is how I imagine a good order, now I know this isn't entirely correct with the orientation of the Technic connections, but it gives a view of what can be done. I based the orientation on how it lines up with the actual model, in as far as possible ofcourse.
  16. Yes, you're right. The link about the changes claimed there was one added, but the image used is fanart or concept art. I looked up some scenes from the film, but there aren't many shots that show that part of the castle, the only scene I found where you can kinda see it is the ending where the trio is on the new viaduct. It also looks like they made the gap smaller, this may be due to the enlarging of the courtyard (which I am also not a fan of).
  17. I prefer the 2018 version as well, the hood seems too small and rounded in my opinion, I also love the trunk design in this one. Yes it's kinda all over the place, I do prefer the version we had from 4 and up (the one we see in the model at the studios), the one from 1 and 2 feels rather blad compared to later. The main change to the castle that really annoys me is the addition of another viaduct/bridge for the Deathly Hallows films, I understand why they did it, but it just looks so weird. The Tom change I understand since it's closer to the books version of him (although I'm not sure of the hump and weird laugh). Flitwick was one of the many mistakes the director of 4 made, in 3 it was meant as an entirely new character.
  18. This is the entrance to the Stone Courtyard. This image is from the HP6 game, where you can get a good feel of where things are located in Hogwarts. It has two of these tunnels, one that connects to the viaduct area and the other that connects to some kind of earthy pathway, that loops back to the boathouse.
  19. If I am correct it should be this part of the castle from the second film, right after they escape the Whomping Willow and the car buggers of after kicking Ron and Harry out. With the tunnel as the only really recognisable part in the set. But this was before the major redesigns in films 3 and 4, where these parts don't exist anymore (I think). (also just found out I could copy and past images from google, just not upload)
  20. It's a small detail to love, but I kinda like it how there's a potions classroom inside the viaduct entrance (next to AT). This is also roughly where it's located in universe. If I remember correctly from the games, you need to go down a set of stairs, to then reach the potions classroom and dungeons. They did the same thing with the hospital wing in the Clocktower last year. In universe there's a long hallway from the top of the Clocktower to the actual hospital wing. It's these subtle details I love. Just a bummer they're not consistent with it (big tower near Great Hall not having Dumbledore's office with three towers etc.) I am wondering what else they might add for castle parts, there's still loads to add, but nothing that's really iconic exterior-wise. There's still room to add classrooms but the rest of the commonrooms are underground so that's not really an option. I made a drawing over a picture of the actual Hogwarts model to show my idea, but the photo was too big to add here. I am not someone to post often so I've no idea how to find a way around it. But in short: I would put the Clocktower left of the Great Hall, probably with dumbledore's office and YuleBall in between. To the right of the Great Hall (The big tower), I'd put the Whomping Willow (castle part) altered with the tower the most to the right, Here the entrance can function as the entrance to the Stone Courtyard. Finally the astronomy tower would be a good fit to the right of that set. Hagrid's hut and the Whomping Willow (tree) are located opposite the Clocktower (normally with a cliff and a wooden bridge inbetween) to the left (looking from the clocktower) to the right would be the Quidditch Pitch. The forbidden forest (Aragog's Lair and Expecto Patronum) should be located behind Hagrid's Hut. The rest of the Sets don't really have a specific location at Hogwarts. Hogwarts Express has part of King's Cross which is London (Hogsmeade Station should be at the end of the path continued from the wooden bridge from the Clocktower passing Hagrid's Hut, but this isn't always clear from the films), the Hungarian Horntail and Beaxbatons' carriage can also be placed near Hagrid's Hut and the Quidditch Pitch (or alternatively passed the greenhouses when the AT set comes out since that should connect to some mainland as well, majority of Hogwarst is on a cliff). Hoped this helped. I haven't tried it out myself, due to lack of space.
  21. Sure, I do have to say that not all pieces are available in the colours I used, it will be hard to find a good matching colour if you choose to do it in another colour. Parts: 1x 30151a - Brick, Round 2 x 2 x 1 2/3 Dome Top - Blocked Open Stud - Dark Bluish Gray (not available) 1x 6587 - Technic, Axle 3 with Stud - Blocked Open Stud - Dark Bluish Gray 1x 6589 - Technic, Gear 8 Tooth Type 1 - Dark Bluish Gray (not available) 1x 20482 - Tile, Round 1 x 1 with Bar and Pin Holder - Dark Bluish Gray 1x 15535 - Tile, Round 2 x 2 with Hole - Dark Bluish Gray 1x 90258 - Brick, Modified 2 x 2 with Grooves and Axle Hole - Light Bluish Gray (not available) 4x 3045 - Slope 45 2 x 2 Double Convex - Light Bluish Gray
  22. Yes, you're right, the film version is a mix of brown and grey in my opinion, maybe dark tan would fit best.
  23. Don't know if this has been done, but I made a render of how I would like to get a Goblet of Fire one day. I based it on how it looked in the'LEGO Harry Potter years 1-4' videogame. Unfortunately, some of the pieces don't exist in these colours yet.
  24. Probably my least favourite thing of all these is the bloody Goblet of Fire, it's pathetic. All the rest seems fine to me. The goblet is a golden goblet with one of the old flames in blue coming out of it, it seems to stand on a pedestel, but doesn't make it better. Also, blue separator, has this been done before?
