  1. I'm seriously considering it, it's a great looking upgrade. I think my main issue with the new figs is the neutral faces, they look bored, the older ones had more expressive ''neutral'' faces. I noticed it mainly with Barbossa and Gibbs, the more expressive alternate faces are better, unfortunately Barbossa's the cursed one, which limits it uses.
  2. I spent the day yesterday building the Pearl and it was such a fun build, the repetitiveness of some parts wasn't too bad and it all adds up to such a gorgeous build. I think what I love most about this version of the Pearl and it's something some of MOC-builds don't alway get richt; It has the overal shape of the Black Pearl totally right. A lot of MOC's (the MOC Your Bricks one for instance, though I do love that version almost equally) tend to make the Pearl too flat. The LEGO one has the right curve to it, something I noticed when watching the films during building, and it's something I haven't seen many people talking about. I did try to add some LEGO ropes I had in storage to the masts to keep them form angling too much forward, but I actually think it's not actually leaning that much, but the construction makes it seem so. The masts consist of separate parts that each are attached to the front of the previous one and with the sail it makes it look angled forward more than they actually are. I looked at my Queen Anne's revenge and besides having the mast be one straight piece, they build the yard arm a bit further outward from the mast the more you go down. This probably also helped with making the sails look wind-filled. The new sails also don't really have the curve built-in the fabric, which make sit bit harder to look filled. I put it next to some of my other ships and I'm surprised how good it fits between them, though the Queen Anne's Revenge does kinda look pathetic next to it, it's definitely a build of the time.
  3. I also ordered mine, I did spend some points to reduce the price a bit. Though the 2 GWP's kinda make the price a bit more bearable.
  4. It's also officially on the LEGO site now. It's €349,99 in Europe and the release dat says September 15. EDIT: The GWP is also visible on the site below the pearl, on the Insiders ad
  5. Maybe putting them in warm (not hot) water and then putting them under a book or something to straighten them out could work. I will try to use some black droid arms to connect the rubber pieces which might keep them from warping too much and add some steps at the same time.
  6. Someone on r/LEGOPirates says they heard a rumour that the reveal may come this weekend or next week. So could still be for september 12. Honestly we're grasping at anything right now since it's all we've got.
  7. I'm getting kinda tired of everything being revealed/leaked with proper images besides the Black Pearl. Give me that proper look dammit.
  8. There are some Reddit pages dealing with Lego News And Rumors or Lego Leak that might be helpful
  9. Some more thoughts after looking at it some more: I noticed is that they're using those rubber pieces as rigging again, as they've done with most recent ship sets they released. I might buy some black droid arms to add the steps to make it more complete. The bottom of the lower sails are connected to the rigging instead of being attached to another beam, which is more accurate. It should actually be attached to the back of the ship via rigging, but it's a good alternative. Having to much rigging would overcrowd the set I feel. We get the angled sails, even between the two main masts, Ideally we should've gotten two for the front and two for the middle, but it's not a big deal to me. The front sail looks a bit too straight to me, I'd rather they put a slight curve in the bottom. I do wonder if it might look a little bit short, but I'll only be able to judge when I see the full set. The lower gunports seem to have brickbuilt covers, which looks interesting to me, especially when the upper ports near the back use the regular flag pieces. Either it's just for detail, to make them more stand out when opened or there's a hidden mechanic to open and close the gunports and to extend the guns out. I'm considering looking for something to replace the little baby chicken item from the masthead, I'm not sure it'll look great, it jumps out a bit too much for me. Judging by the minifig wheel, I'm thinking the figures will fit decently on the ship, they might look a bit bigger than they ought to, but making it true minifig scale would make it too big for a LEGO set of this price. They'd have to ask Millenium Fallcon prices and it might be way too difficult to display. As for the name, I think at this point we can say that the name is propably just a misguided attempt from the marketing team to make it more "searchable", even though I think the name Black Pearl is just as iconic as Jack Sparrow. All in all it's a good first impression with some minor nitpicks so far, it'll be interesting to see how they did the back of the ship, there's lots of opportunity for detail and intere"sting building techniques, I'm excited to see what they did there. I'm guessing the official release might not be too far out now, usually these leakers reveal the best look at the set shortly before LEGO does, or forces them to finally reveal it themselves. EDIT: We also just got a picture of the figures on the box. No Pintell or Ragetti interestingly, maybe they do come in a GWP? Barbossa has a new hat and hair combo piece, which looks good. (not the same as the Fortnite figure, but similar). The other figures all look great and we get a printed piece for the Aztec Gold (at least I hope it's printed, usually is when it's a piece like that), which I was hoping for.
  10. Wow, I'm genuinely blown away, really excited to get a better look, but it looks great so far. It looks to me we'll be able to remove the bottom part of the hull to display it sitting on a flat surface like other pirate ships, but that's just a guess.
  11. I really hope we get official images soon, the Arkham Asylum set also releases next month an has been revealed already, what's taking them so long with the Pearl?
  12. Having looked at my version of the hat/hair combo; it does look like a new piece. Like you said, some of the hair is different and the hat feels smaller too, in width at least I think, though the angle makes it difficult to say with certainty. The print on the beads looks more detailed compared to the old one as well, but the print of the bone looks missaligned, it's partially printed on the hat, so I hope that gets fixed. I also kinda hope we get his hair without hat as well with the more detailed print like in the Silent Mary set, though I do admit that's highly unlikely. Some people speculated that the head was Ragetti's, but they'd definitely print the wooden eye to stand out, so I doubt it. Otherwise I can't match the face with any of the crew (both the ones rumoured to be included, as those that weren't). Pintel and Will should have more defined beards/mustaches (Ragetti too tbh), Marty doesn't have a stubble and Cotton should have an older looking face with a white beard. So, either: it's a totally unrelated figure, one of the characters will have a totally wrong face or there are characters included that weren't rumoured and I don't have an immediate memory of (maybe another member of the cursed crew or someone of the British navy? It could fit either Murtogg or Mulroy).
  13. It does seem like the same hat that Arthur wears when he arrives at the burrow in Chamber of Secrets, so I think you're right on that one. And gosh, everytime I think: "hmm I might not be interested in this set based on the leaked description", they go ahead and make it look so damn beautiful.
  14. I've just built the Boathouse set (76426) and I noticed something I've not really seen discussed alot (at least in reviews). It's the fact that Hermione has 'triple-moulded' (might be called overmoulded) legs. She's got black feet, grey legs and then black top of the legs. I don't think we see these types of legs often do we? I can only think of the Simpsons CMF figures. As far as I can see they're continuing these legs with the new female students in the sets releasing soon. It's odd how stingy LEGO has been with double-moulded legs lately, but here we get some unnecessary (but highly appreciated) ones. Maybe similar to the teachers getting arm-printing, they might deem it a reasonable investment with the amount of use these legs will get in upcoming sets. Considering the new wand moulds we're getting and the new creatures so far (Fang and Norberta) it would seem that LEGO has been upping the budget of the LEGO Harry Potter line recently.
  15. Cheesey Studios has a video showing off the new Arrival set (ship and carriage). It would seem that it uses a lot of stickers, which is a bit disapointing, especially for the shields. It does look like an amazing display piece though.
  16. I wouldn't be surprised that in a future expansion to the castle there's a module that's initially inserted in the castle in it's opened form, but it might also be closed up which opens up space for one of the 'extra' modules that might not have a place yet.
  17. It has happened before with the HP-line actually, usually like a month difference between zones.
  18. God, the exterior really looks nice.
  19. Ooh, that Aragog looks really good, might be the best one so far. Still not big enough I think, but honestly doesn't matter too much to me.
  20. Interesting to see Snape get arm printing, weird to give it to him here. Maybe we're getting the same snape in a more expensive set later. The new wands seem interesting, I think they might be too big for the minifigures to hold without looking off. might make good walking canes though. Also I did just notice that some of the wands have the snake head from Lucius Malfoy's wand.
  21. I think the issue with the previous modular version was the rather boxy lay-out of every module, which is logical with how that modular system worked, they needed to fit next and onto eachother. If the new modular system is going with interchangeable interiors whilst the exterior keeps it shape it might be able to have the best of both worlds; a great looking exterior with lots of customisation options on the interior.
  22. With the interiors in the bottom part being removable, does anyone think this is how they'll make it modular? Releasing different modules that you can insert how you like throughout the castle? Maybe they'll release another Chamber of Secrets that could fit in there or something.
  23. Hey guys, so what do you guys use to find the most recent leaked pics? I used to use Instagram and just look up the Legoleaks hashtag but lately it's been more unusable than ever. Okay managed to find the rest, but the hashtag is still messed up. So if anyone has a better way, please do share. Figures look great, Troll is really good except the beefy arms. I'm not sure the Great Hall shows it's value at the moment though, it's supposed to be about €200 or something right? But, it does look like a fun set. Buckbeak and the Mandrake look great, but I'm the least interested in them. The shops look fun, but I'm still not entirely sure of the new Diagon Alley wave. I'd love to have more in the style of the D2C. And also what's with the displayed wands in Olivanders? Are those new handles that we can put on the existing wand pieces? I'm curious if Madame malkin's will have the giant pair of scissors on the front though.
  24. No news from London toyfair?
