LEGO Star Wars 2023 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

Hopefully we get a new torso for Han, the current figure has his button-down from Return of the Jedi, not his original v-neck. We haven't gotten an actual Ep. IV Han since the 2011 Millennium Falcon! Also, just spitballing, but is it possible the set numbers for the Swamp Speeder and Yoda Starfighter got mixed up? A 4+ YJA Yoda ship with 100 pieces for $25 and a Swamp Speeder with 250 pieces for $35 makes a heck of a lot more sense than the reverse, at least to me. -

Read that as "UCS Elsa Schneider's bust" and got a little concerned -

Nah, that would be too sensible, have you SEEN what Star Wars and Marvel have been doing. We'll be getting a $700 UCS bust of Colonel Dietrich. -

I know that's what the leaker said, but unless they actually know the full minifig selection we can't know 100% for certain. It could be like the Tantive IV and have one or two Rogue One figures sprinkled in with a SW77 selection. -

Probably the same reason they started the helmets and dioramas with only OT: because they can know with confidence that OT sets will sell a normal amount, and therefore they can look at how well they do as a measure of how much people like the concept without any extraneous factors. If they did a mech for the prequels or sequels, that could skew things positively (prequel fans buying 35 Maul mechs) or negatively (Star Wars fans pistol-whipping every eight-year-old who tries to buy a sequel set). By just doing OT characters, they can see how much people want the mechs as an overall line. -

I work at a summer camp, so I can tell you that quite a few eight-year-olds (and one ride-or-die AFOL) would much rather have a good-sized mech with a main character over an accessory pack with a piddly build and three generic troops. (To be clear I am not a member of mech gang, but they will undoubtedly sell very well.) -

Pretty sure it was the guy with the silly hat from the 2016 First Order Battle Pack. Love how we all saw the phrase "$200 Buildable Chewbacca" and just decided this was silly hour -

While that is the official excuse of the LSW designers, I still don't understand why they don't just take a page out of Harry Potter's book and just make them in cool blue tones. It would be more accurate anyway, Old Ben wasn't very translucent. -

...Y'know, while I guess you COULD harass unpaid interns, I think the goal of "more good OT sets" would be far better met by simply filling MandR's larynx with Flex Seal -

It was barely larger than the 2013 set, and the only exterior details were a bunch of brown NEXO-shields. It legitimately looked like something an intern whipped up in an hour just so they'd have some image to put on the survey. -

Already known and done, I made a custom RF as soon as I opened up the 2019 Tantive IV. Doesn't mean I don't want an official figure -

Now that we're finally getting Yavin, the only ANH set I really want from this point on is a Tantive IV hallway set as a $30 "big battle pack" with three Stormtroopers, two Rebel Fleet Troopers, and (our Lord and Savior) Rebel Friend. -

Unlikely. The leak was of an EXTREMELY early prototype, far earlier than something like Barad-dur which we know won't be coming until at least 2024. Imo that leak basically ruled out any possibility of the UCS Sail Barge being this year. -

My thoughts exactly. In terms of minifgures, the prequel trilogy and clone wars have UNQUESTIONABLY been their top priority since 2020. -

Oh, we NEED a new Podrace. It's crazy that they made the perfect head mold for Mawhonic in the 2013 Sail Barge bit we still haven't gotten him. A set with pods for Anakin, Sebulba, and Mawhonic with a figure of Ben on the side (he didn't start the race, after all) would be amazing, though honestly I'd also love if they did some microfighter podracers (it's wild to me that they've made several dozen microfighters but never tapped the goldmine that is the actual SW racers). -

Here's the difference though. Ben Quadinaros was a MAIN CHARACTER in the Boonta Eve Classic, and made big appearances in TCW and even The Freemaker Adventures! Lego literally made every other character who played a big part in the podrace OUTSIDE Ben! -

There's a pattern to it, just look at the facts. In 2018, toxic LSW fans started harassing LEGO's social media guy about a 501st battle pack, and in 2020 LEGO released one. Immediately after getting their wish they started harassing LEGO's poor underpaid social media guy about a P2 Cody, and in 2022 they delivered. Ergo, it can be inferred there's a two-year turnaround from initial whinging to production, and that we'll likely see a new Captain Rex in the summer of 2024. I am going to boil you alive -

Fine by me. After we got Aunt Beru last year I don't have much interest in a Lars Homestead set, and I'm all Mos Eisley'd out for the next few years. Hey now, some of us have been waiting on that dusty temple for the better part of two decades! -

I mean, all of the pilots except Luke and Wedge die during the Battle of Yavin, so if we wanted figures of Red Leader or Gold Five (the two ANH pilots we've never gotten the helmets for), or updated figures for Biggs or Porkins, they don't appear in the ceremony scene.
