  1. to be honest, i don't recall if any of the other parts move?
  2. i would like to thank everyone on this board for the helpful insight you've given us. i'm thinking we wont take this to market for at least another year or so as my son has three more years of high school left. it is now all tucked away back under lock and key and we'll continue to look into the various forums as sugested (such as star war collectors and others) and i plan on talking with a couple of experts to get their view on it as well. not to mention, the final say on all of this is my son, after all it's his, he won it and he rubs that in my face every chance he gets because i was the one who told him he was wasteing his time sending in that post card for an entry 4 years ago.
  3. so let me ask you this, if it was yours, would you want to be the one to bend soft gold? see my dilemma? i'm think'n whoever buys it can push the sucker down if they want!
  4. have you seen another one of these to know? I ask because the last thing I need to do is push on that head and screw something up. if you don't mind please explain how you know. I'm asking, not trying to argue. hope you can understand where we're coming from.
  5. how do you know if the head is on properly? this is the way it came.
  6. you have a solid gold c3p0 too?
  7. no sweat, and for the record i did fine the list of 5 winners on a old thread i dug up on another forum. The Gold winners are: Andrew Hoffmann Christopher Giancola Elizabeth Jacome Jason Masey Chris Melchin
  8. as soon as my knucklehead kids can find me the card reader for the camera you got it. the photo i emailed out was from my cell phone and the picture i tried to take of the whole thing is not readable if you try to zoom in because of the crapppy resolution of my cell phone or i would have had that one posted too.
  9. it is 14k gold. i'll have to weigh it some time this week and post it. again though, i would think the real value is going to be from the rare number available opposed to actual gold content value.
  10. my son would kill to get onto that show with this thing. we're a big fan of that and Pickers!
  11. there was no sepperate certificate, the whole background of the frame is the certificate. it says 1 of 5 or something along those lines. as mentioned earlier we have the original box from fed-ex with legos return shipping addy on it. also if you look at the late winter/early spring lego magazine after the drawing it list the five winners. sir von lego has my last name via the email i sent him, if you look up the 5 winners you will see an Andrew Hoffmann . if and when we go to sell we will be able to have the buyer verify our address and name with the records at Lego. all 5 winners names are out there, unfortunately we lost our copy of the issue that anounced the winners, if anyone would have an extra old copy from back then i would be interested in it.
  12. if there where a lot of them then yea your thought on price would have merit. but when it comes to something that is very very limited quantity, such as only 5 made in the world, then gold amount and value play second to the collectability/value. otherwise there would not be all plastic toys fetching thousands of dollars by collectors when we know there is not thousands of dollars worth of plastic in it. get my point?
  13. appreciate the advice and have thought much the same. all we're trying to do right now is get a gauge on a realistic actual value/price it could fetch right now and then make an educated decission on when or if to sell it. we're truely clueless and to tell the truth, i don't see us any closer to knowning now than we did 4 yrs ago when he won it. back then Lego said the value was around 1200.00 as i recall. i don't know if that is soley on the gold value then (1/4 of todays prices mind you) or a collector vallue determined by someone at lego.
  14. any idea on what they where asking for it then?
  15. no, just the gold c3p0, sorry my son is such a slacker!
  16. gotcha, we're going to be gone a bit later this weekend but hopefully i can get photo's posted after i return on mon. for now the avtar will have to do.
  17. guys my avtar is a close up of the figure taken with my cell phone. i forward you some photo's please feel free to share here as i am haveing issues getting them uploaded right now.
  18. i didn't leave the box checked in my profile to receive emails at the moment. i'll see if the site here will allow me to contact you via your profile info. if so i'll put gold c3p0 in the subject line. ok the site wont let me view a posters profile. i assume that is because i am a new member? sorry for eating up space on this thread but i looked around and could not find the answer. if it is a new member issue can anyone tell me how long it will be like that? i understand the reasons for putting up waiting periods. if a moderator wishes to contact me via email that is fine too.
  19. i'll post some pics of it this weekend if i can find the card reader for the camera. we have all the documentation, i told him not to throw a thing away from that package.
  20. JimH

    hello

any guess on what would not be out of the ball park to hear? are we talking hundreds of dollars to a thousand or so or are we talking thousands because of the rarity? i've been looking around and can not find anything to gage it by.
  21. Guys i posted a question in the thread where you introduce yourself as new members explaining my son was one of 5 winners about 4 yrs ago of the solid gold c3p0 figure. we're looking on info on value and where the best place to post it for sale. the funds will be going into his college fund. any help would greatly be apreciated.
  22. hello all, i myself am not a collector but my son loved this stuff for years. he has stopped collecting it but about 4 yrs ago he was one of five lucky winners of the solid gold c3p0. he now is wanting to find out how much it is worth and see if it makes sence to sell it and put th emoney away for college. he has the original box from fed-ex that the lego company shipped the framed piece to him as well as you could look his name up in the magazine that anounced the 5 winners. this was about 4 yrs ago. anyway any help directing us to where we could find out a value and where the best place to list it for sale should he decide to do so would be of great help. thanks
