  1. There is still the possibility of the fifth scum.
  2. Thomas was the one who claimed he was blocked. I had considered whether Malcolm was a commuter of some sort, but that role is usually town-aligned and I couldn't find any references to an equivalent role for scum. Patrick also thought this was implausible. Gordon said he had one-shot investigation, one-shot protection and one-shot kill abilities to hand out. He said he couldn't hand the same one out twice in a row. They are accounted for as far as I know as follows: N1 - no-one got anything he said because he didn't trust anyone at that stage N2 - I got an investigative ability (magnifying glass), which I used on Nigel on N2 (and I shared my results with Gordon and Patrick on D3) N3 - Nigel was given a protective ability (vest), which was used to protect Thomas on Night 4 N4 - Gordon said he was going to give me another investigative ability, but I never received it. @Nigel Clayton, anything in the pm from our captain when you received the vest that suggested it was anything other than a protection ability?
  3. I'm sorry, but you contacted me, not the other way around. I'm starting to feel that it is me who was gullible enough to believe you. I won't state my role and to ask me to do so is scummy. Patrick has stated in this thread that I should not claim. Again, you contacted me, not the other way around. You could have chosen to contact Henry. Or not contact either of us. Yes, I did. Interestingly, during our private discussions on Day 3, I suggested Geoffrey and Malcolm for investigation on night 3. But you went with Joseph. You don't trust your result on Henry or I, but you trust your investigation result on Joseph? I've already explained that was in the scenario with you not being the town investigator. At that time, I believed you were town. Others managed to see it for what it was. I really don't understand this attack on me by Thomas. Have we had any evidence of anyone being blocked by someone other than Louisa or Patrick?? I.e. anything to suggest there is a scum blocker out there, other than Thomas' claim that he was blocked last night? I'm not anymore either. I ran my theory about the masons and a possible fifth scum past Patrick, Louisa and Thomas. Patrick responded by pointing out where there were weaknesses in my arguments, which led me to give it some more thought and change it before posting. Louisa agreed that Malcolm was the most likely scum. Thomas's response was this attack on me, even though I hadn't questioned his alliance at that point. Unless, of course, you and Malcolm are both his scum buddies. In which case it wasn't really an investigation anyway.
  4. Vote: Malcolm Langley i’ve already explained why.
  5. Exactly. The only ones to benefit from knowing my claim will be the scum team. To Thomas: My comment about Alex bring the investigator was in the scenario of you having lied. And I said that I don’t believe that to be the case. You were very quick to turn around and attack me. I have to go up deck for first mate duties, so I may be absent for a little bit. And will respond to everything else at that time.
  6. For Joseph's benefit ...
  7. The only person who I told about my role was Patrick and I made it very clear that no-one was to know what is was because it is useless if the scum know about it. Do you know what my role is because you have a role cop on your team? Most likely Jane I think, because vig is also not consistent with Remy's claim about when his role would be useful. This leaves Alex as investigator. I did state in the thread that I have a role and that I would not be stating publicly what it was. Let me know if you can't find it and I will grab it later. You make a point. But the other scenarios imply just as a big gambles on the part of scum ... I'm sorry, but since when do we know that scum tried to kill Thomas on Night 2? Care to share how you know? I suggested three names to Thomas last night for investigation: Gordon - this was me agreeing with Thomas that it would be good to investigate him Timothy - this was suggested by Louisa and I passed it on to Thomas Malcolm - on the basis of suspicions that were raised by Patrick and my own suspicions about the mason claims. I did not tell him which one to go for.
  8. A block by scum is in my view the most likely reason that Thomas did not get a result last night. This means we had two scum actions last night - a kill and a block. And working on the assumption that one scum can't execute two actions in one night, each of the two remaining scum did something last night. Side note - if there were only four scum to start with, we could clear Timothy since he was blocked last night. However, there is the possibility that, in a game with so many power roles for town, that there were five scum to start with to balance the power. At most, only one of the two scum who did something could have come from the pool of people who have been investigated. This is because there can't be two godfathers. This means at least one of the scum must have come from the pool of people that have not been investigated. Let's look at this pool of people more closely: Patrick - towniest of town, having led the lynch on Barty and working with Nigel to get Geoffrey. Louisa - has been blocking Tim, which means she wasn't responsible for the kill or the block on Thomas. She was also quick to support the vote on Barty. Looking like town to me. Timothy - been locked in his room for several nights now. Not responsible for the block or the kill, but still possible he is scum Thomas - I'm confident he's town (see reasoning below). Malcolm - not accounted for ... To me, this points to Malcolm having executed one of the scum actions last night. This also implies that Joseph is scum, since they claimed masons together. Also, Joseph and Malcolm, barely said anything about Barty and Geoffrey before Day 3 and 4, respectively. And then when Barty and Geoffrey were under fire, they pointed more often to Louisa and, in the case of Malcolm, to Timothy. My vote will be on Malcolm. Thomas approached me early in Day 3 and shared his role and findings for the first two nights with me then. This would have given scum two nights in which to find the investigator. Jane was killed on night one and thus unlikely to have been investigated. Alex was mod-killed and it is highly unlikely that scum would have bothered to investigate him on night 1. Day 2 - Remy was lynched. He hinted at a role, but said it wasn't useful until day 3. Investigators are generally not restricted in such a way. This means that it was unlikely that scum had known who the investigator was at the time Thomas claimed to me. If Thomas was scum, it would have been a very risky proposition to claim investigator if there was a possibility that there could be a legitimate counter claim. Also, Thomas stated straight away to me that he was the investigator, and he was concerned about having his identity revealed, but he was quite happy for me to share that I was in contact with the investigator. I did this in private with Patrick (our central repository for claims, and town in my view) and Gordon (who is confirmed town) in the first instance, and then in the thread on Day 4. Therefore, I believe that Thomas is the town investigator. Just to clarify, I did claim in public, but did not reveal what my role was. Was Timothy's claim public?
  9. No, just pointing out that I thought Joseph's logic was flawed. I think that, if she was lying, that her and Timothy would both be scum. At this point, I believe she is town and Timothy is possibly scum. I.e the opposite of what Joseph suggested.
  10. Are we sure Thomas was blocked? Your logic seems flawed to me. Are you suggesting she blocked Thomas? Louisa claimed to have blocked Timothy for the last three nights. She presumably can't block two people in one night. If she didn't block Timothy and was the scum blocker, rather than the town blocker, then she and Timothy would have to be working together, as scum.
  11. It was Gordon who claimed inventor to me. Everyone who is not dead (and probably all of the dead) seem to have a PR of some sort. Do you really believe that Timothy is vanilla? I think the latter - there are enough roles going around that could be either affiliation. You really need to start paying more attention. Not cool actually. I have a rugrat who likes to follow the game over my shoulder. Vote: Geoffrey Holton I wish that was a valid reason for a vote because I had you pegged as town from the start, and I struggled to reconcile today's findings and revelations with my gut feel. But, with no-one protected (other than Patrick) last night (as far as I can tell) and the assumption that scum would kill if they could, the logical conclusion is that the lack of a kill means either Geoffrey or Timothy is scum. There was no kill the night before that when both Barty and Timothy were blocked, which has me leaning towards Geoffrey more likely to be scum than Timothy. Patrick and Nigel claimed they set a trap and it appears to have work. A couple more thoughts on this: I can understand the need to want to confirm someone even if you think they are town. I contemplated using the one-shot investigation on Patrick on night 2 to confirm him, but then realised I was probably wasting the tool and used it instead on someone that I was unsure about. Tracking Patrick, though, would only show if he targeted someone, which doesn't necessarily confirm affiliation. I also considered why scum would target someone who is likely to being watched or subject to protection of sorts. But they probably figured he wouldn't be able to self-protect and it would be worth it the risk to take him out.
  12. The mason claims are the one that sit uneasily with me. We seem to have role madness rive throughout the crew (Thanks Captain), and the mason claim is the easiest to get away with because it can't be counter claimed. Also, it wouldn't show up if they were watched / tracked / investigated etc. I appreciate that Joseph was investigated, but he would look like a pirate if he was the godfather. Having said that, I note that both of them are pushing for us to investigate Gordon, who was looking scummy early on, but seems to have become a more helpful townie in the last little bit. Although there are some things in this post that need to be clarified: We should talk and theorise about roles because the mix of claimed roles and actions will help us identify who is lying about claimed roles. You were in discussions with me and am again now, but there was a significant downtime between our initial discussions and you letting me know you had given Nigel the vest. I had wondered why you stopped talking to me after wanting to be a helpful townie. You say Nigel protected someone, but he says he didn't use it last night??? When I got my magnifying glass (via the Captain), I asked if I had to use it straight away or if I could save it. I was told I didn't have to use it straight away if I didn't want to. You and Malcolm voted for Alex. Ignoring you for the moment, how do you know Malcolm isn't imperial scum? yes See above. I have a role and this is known to Patrick. I won't be sharing it publicly because that will render it useless.
  13. I have quite a few first mate duties to attend to at the moment and haven’t caught up yet, but wanted to share the investigator’s results with all this chatter going on. N1 - Jack ( me) N2 - Henry N3 - Joseph All came back loyal pirate according to the investigator. I also investigated Nigel on Night 2 - with a loyal pirate result. I am not the investigator, but was given a one shot magnifying glass by someone claiming to be an inventor. This gift and the result came via our captain, it directly from the claimed inventor. Not directly from claimed inventor.
  14. Aye! Now for the rest of these scurvy dogs!!
  15. Patrick to me is very much town - no, I'm not claiming any PR, this is just based on his actions to date. I have question marks on three of the five who called out Louisa first up today. So, in my view, I don't consider them just as likely to be town. I had several other posts quoted but, by the time I got to actually finish catching up and putting pen to paper, I'd forgotten why I had grabbed most of them. And, in light of the way things unfolded, generally irrelevant. Anyway, I'm comfortable going with the Patrick block and Barty has been on the radar for some time. Unvote: Louisa Hammond Vote: Bartholomew Brewster
  16. You could have explained why you said / did what you did yesterday since the apparent flip flop and position to look townie was the reason you were under suspicion in the first place. And this is not helpful either: That's a bold statement to make (literally and figuratively). Between believing you and believing anything Louisa has to say, however, it is a no brainer for me. Which is why I can understand why someone would claim to you and why I'm curious about Joseph and Malcolm questioning why someone would claim to you specifically. Vote: Louisa Hammond Don't believe so. We've still got twelve pirates, which means the numbers should still be in our favour, no?
  17. I also think it strange that you would jump straight into making a claim rather than offering a defence. You were certainty on the radar, but you weren't the main topic of discussion and voting hasn't even started. Makes sense given: Can you share any of this? I have a dilemma - I had been leaning towards Imperial scum for both Louisa and Timothy. So, I'm also curious what @Timothy Dixon has to say. Not really. You're still well and truly on the radar as far as I am concerned. Is this you defending your fellow Imperial scum?
  18. Sorry, I misread and assumed you were referring to the lack of kills overnight.
  19. This is not necessarily the case. A choice block and a good doctor could explain the lack of night kills. I pointed to you and Nigel, not Louisa.
  20. I wish that Remy had cared a little more, but I'm happy we didn't lose anyone else overnight. We need to take a closer look at Nigel and Gordon today.
  21. I don't know what to make of this. It feels like a desperate last minute ploy. This claim came only a short period before the day was to end by my judging of where the stars are at, meaning that there was very little time for any reaction if it were not for our captain again being distracted by that wench of his. There's a pattern here. You were quiet for most of the day. Surely there was something you could have said to respond to our questions and accusations? I also think the onus was on you to reach out. I've been convinced you are scum for most of our voyage so far, why would I (or anyone else) reach out to someone who they thought was an Imperial scum? Time to go dust off the history books. I'd rather be drinking rum. History books suggest we might have a survivor on board?
  22. What do you mean by "something that's going somewhere"? Yours was the first vote for Louisa at this stage. @Louisa Hammond, speaking of you, have you any thoughts on Jane? You asked us earlier, but haven't provided a view of your own yet. Ye reason for voting for Louisa is that she wants to direct town's attention away from Remy. Aren't you implying that Remy is her scum buddy. In which case, why split the vote rather than voting for Remy? Can you provide an explanation for your first comment of the day? Why did you say it? What was the objective? What were you trying to achieve? I did note your comments earlier today: I agree that Nigel appears to be trying to fly under the radar, hasn't actually offered any opinions of his own about anyone and hasn't really been questioning anyone that much. At this stage though, I'm happy to pursue him tomorrow rather than changing my vote today. @Remy Fontaine still hasn't answered the questions about his actions yesterday and hasn't come back after his initial outburst this morning.
  23. The Captain has told us we "may" vote after the first 24 hours, which suggests we can choose whether or not to vote. The Captain usually tell us explicitly if voting is compulsory.
  24. That's the strangest logic I've ever hear. Note to self: Test the ship's rum stash. Me be missing Jane, she was a fine wench. What are your thoughts on Jane? I always suspected ... thanks for being honest. I don't think this helps your case at all, as you still haven't answered the reasons provided as to why you are looking suspicious. Being ambiguous is not helpful. Why did you change your stance of voting on Day 1? Why vote for someone who was most likely going to be walking the plank anyway? Why vote late in the day when it wasn't going to make a difference? Vote: Remy Fontaine Sitting on the fence now? Sowing seeds of doubt, while leaving the option open to vote for him ... Me dunno kin what you're saying. Voting was optional, so you didn't need to find somewhere safe to put a vote. You coulda just not voted. Not that ridiculous to think that a statement you wrote to draw attention did draw some attention. Also, asking someone to explain their statement is not exactly a bandwagon. No-one has voted for you for this yet. What is the gibberish you are referring to? Anyway, at this point consider yourself on the radar. You've got me wondering what the hell you're up to. Exactly!
  25. Why? I don't recall you doing anything to attract any attention yesterday. Might be the dodgy rum from last night, but I didn't get the bit between 'Following' and 'person'. What was the point you were making?
