Marvel Superheroes 2020 - Rumors & Discussion
JediJosh replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
So based on you saying that kids are gonna know about the very non-kid appropriate Deadpool movies, they are also gonna know about the very non-kid appropriate Joker movie. Yes unlikely at the moment but in about 3 years once he has joined the MCU them chances will go up -

Exactly right. Joker has done a lot worse stuff in the comics than Deadpool. I also believe his Killing Joker outfit was in one of the Lego Batman CMF's- an outfit that he wore when he paralyzed and raped Barbra Gordan whilst taking pictures of her naked to use to torture her dad, an act that in my opinion is way worse and horrific then anything Deadpool has ever done. -

Sure listing them like that looks bad but in the comics each of these are portrayed for a comedic effect. As one article I read put it: "These are the most awful and messed up things Deadpool has ever done, and we love him for each and every one of them. He truly is the regenerating degenerate and fans wouldn't have it any other way!" Most of the things on that list were from comics that are rated PG not R -

I want him to be in a set yes your right but what your missing is Disney have said they have no problem managing Deadpool as long as they let the audience know whats coming. He could have cameos or appear in other MCU films which are PG meaning they could have him appear in them sets. Like wise Disney could make him fully PG and never make an R rated film about him again. Deadpool doesn't need to be R rated to be funny- the games, comics, and other mediums have proved this. He was never made to be R rated. I'm not saying it will happen next year but in a few years time when Deadpool does join the MCU as its looking likely he will be the first Fox character to show up in the MCU, who know what the situation with Lego is going to be. I'm sure Disney have got a plan of how they are going to market him. The SDCC figures came out after the film. Yes I know they are rare and feature him in an outfit but he's still Deadpool. I think we can't say he is never going to appear in a set because i think that when he enters the MCU he will. right now its unlikely yes but in 3 years from now who knows. Disney are going to want to make money off him and merchandise brings in a lot of money for the house of mouse. -

He has appeared in a Lego set previous. Who know what Lego's stance is going to be in a few years when he enters the MCU. If Disney want him in a Lego set are Lego really going to go against Disney. They are also a company that are all about making money. Lego know how valuable and profitable he is just like Disney. Who knows what disney are going to do. The fact they own him means they can do whatever they want with him wether you like it or not. Let's not forget when Disney brought Fox they put Deadpool's picture on the Disney site (and that was from the R rated film) -

I agree that we will never get a phoenix joker figure but we get comic based joker. Same can be said with deadpool we don't need a film version but could get a comic version of him. Just because 1 version is R rated doesn't mean they all are. Plus there are lego sets that are rated 16+ there's no reason a deadpool figure can't appear in one of them sets There's also nothing stopping Disney from making a PG Deadpool film as well as an R rated one. The thing is Disney know Deadpool will make a lot of money so like it or not her is going to be appearing in more stuff over the coming years and that means merchandise. Disney are going to focus on making money more than are about concerned parents. Besides how many parents are going to be that bothered if a lego Deadpool appears in a set. At the end of the day it's a small plastic toy. Disney could make an animated Deadpool TV show for Disney plus thats aimed for kids and that could get a lego set. The possibilities are endless, and that's what I'm trying to say. -

The thing is with Deadpool there is nothing to worry about. It's only his live action films that had made him an R rated character so if parents don't want to show there kids the films they don't have to. they don't even have to buy the sets. But the thing is Deadpool doesn't have to be an R rated character most of the things he has appeared in since he was created haven't been rated R. Most comics he has appeared aren't rated R, the same goes with games and cartoons. The problem is with parents who think just because he is in R rated films thats he can't be appropriate for kids which isn't true. At the end of the day I don't see a problem with Deadpool appearing in a lego set, at the end of the day it's just a toy. The Joker still appears in Lego sets and he just had an R rated film about him. Just because one version is R rated doesn't mean every version is R rated. -

They already said Deadpool will be joining the MCU and the it's more the likely he is going to join before the Fantastic Four and X-men. Ryan Reynolds has already had meetings with Marvel and Kevin Feige about Deadpool 3 and how Deadpool is going to fit in with the MCU. They know how much money Deadpool makes so they are not going to want him to stay away from the big screen for too long, especially now he can have other Marvel superheroes appear in his films. -

Lets not forget that Disney has recently allowed Deapool to appear in Fortnite which is played by a lot of kids. I think this is Disney's way of introducing Deapool to kids ready for when he joins the MCU and all the merchandise that comes with that. Deadpool is cash cow and Disney are going to milk that, thats why they are introducing him to kids now so that parents will be ready for when he joins the MCU and all the merchandise. So i think we will see Deadpool in a lego set in the future. It might not be based on his films if his films are still rated R but definitely in other sets. When he appears in other MCU films he will be PG-13 with potentially his solo films remaining R. -

Disney have always had the toy rights to X-men (just the film and TV rights they didn't own), thats why we were able to get 2 Lego X-men sets several years ago. They chose not to do any more as they didn't want to promote something they didn't fully own. -

Sony doesn't have the game rights to Spider-man. They only have the film rights. Disney still own the game, comic, and merchandise rights to Spider-man. -

Disney have always had the X-men toy rights, so you never know there could already be lego sets that's have been designed in the past that could now get used or something. I agree with you that I don't think we will see any next year but I think within the next 5 years we will. -

Disney have always had the toy rights to the X-men so if they wanted too, could have always been making Lego X-men sets. The reason they didn't (other than 2014) was because they didn't want to promote someone else movies as they didn't have the film rights to them. Now they have the film rights I think we will definitely see Lego X-men sets within the next 2-5 years. The same goes with the Fantastic Four -
