The Underwater Version Contest Voting
Toltomeja replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
All 5 points to no. 3 - money transfer. Good job! -
There have already been so many great entries being classic wild west towns, that I decided to enrich mine with some humour and action. And so I created Brickwood City... My MOC shows an usual wild west town visited by unusual guests, causing some mess in the town: they helped arrested bandits get free again, fell in love with the citizens' wives and tried to learn horse riding or cycling. Feel free to see the film showing motorized part of my construction: THE PYROMANIAC http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hlpjp2wIkHY My MOC is really not connected with the film. I started building before the film was advertised. And what's to be said more? Enjoy! Give me my pants back! Muppet show

Bricks4Fun My Dinner with Jacqueline - 5 points Definetely the best entry! Mstrofppts AS new set acquired - 1 point Toltomeja Flying Dutchman & Woodchuck Norris - 1 point My story title is not FD vs Wn, it should be FD and WN, as they don't fight with each other. It's not a big difference, just wanted to make it clear Good luck to all! -
I've just noticed an interesting structure of the balcony's balustrade - how is this made? Are there some vertically placed plates between the ledges?

Pirates of the Caribbean Contest - MOC Forum Division Voting

Here are my votes. Let me also say a few words why I've chosen these entries: hammelgeier Attack of the Kraken - 2 points Hammelgeier's MOC simply stunned me with its realistic features. I think the model is a great example of how motion can be perfectly shown by a static model. I like that it's not been made in minifig scale as most of the entries, there is a wonderful figure of mini-sailor, made out of 4 pieces, kept in a Kraken's tentacle. The ship is a real masterwork, with plenty of details made in a very interesting way and great accuracy in showing its sinking deck. Its next significant advantage is the overall shape - any perpendicular edges are limited to absolute minimum, which makes no single piece look artifficially. I think the best entry in the contest! Matn Tia Dalma's Shack - 2 points Matn's MOC has made a huge impression on me too. I know it's sometimes really hard to create such good-looking trees and the plants are what I liked the most. That jungle surrounding Tia's cottage surprised me with its charm and number of piece used. The wooden house is very well done, as it can be seen from outside and inside as well, with every detail polished. The model is full of great ideas, like the construction of ladder and putting a crocodile's part into the water. I'd be a fool not to mention Dalma's fig! Matn, congratulations on this, I was amazed how perfect a fig made out of original pieces can be. Good job! Fat Tony Where's the rest of the crew? - 1 point Although there are not so many details in this MOC, I remember it made me laugh aloud when I saw the statue microfig at the bridge! I was amazed by the cage - the builder managed to make a wonderful construction not only strong enough to hold all those minifigs, but also having such a wonderful ball-like shape! The rocks are quite ordinary, but are a proper background for the cage, and I like the method of joining the leaves together too. BTW, I hope you've already freed the minifigs? Well done, Fat Tony! HazyHunter801 "No Three Bells Were Tolled" - 1 point What I liked the most in this entry are the multiple levels of the MOC. Plus, they are strongly connected and show one situation both. What is also stunning for me is the method of presenting the scene as a part of a ship, the ship's body shape is very well done, although it's only a kind of back side of the MOC. It all make the model not only watchable from all sides, but also interesting and wonderful all around. I like some creatively made details, like the cannon or the bird behind Jack, which is a great example of how magnificent details you can create out of couple of pieces! Good job! And finally, Toltomeja Giant Jack Sparrow - 1 point Good luck to all! -

Eurobricks Spaghetti Western Competition

How will the winer be chosen? Voting or jury? -
And did you make it out of your previously collected parts or went shopping to BrickLink? Besides great talent, I see a collection of many fine bricks, and if I had such a budget of Lego, wouldn't stand a minute not to build something! Once again, congratulations on great job!

LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean Contest - Voting Rules
Toltomeja replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
Wouldn't it be better to put a photo of each MOC in voting thread??? I think that will make the chances more equal - some MOCs were "Blogged" and presented at the homepage, and some other has been seen by a few users only. -
Good job! I'd only add some sand or rocks by the water, grass just over the water doesn't look very natural
-
I like it, especially the floor! Did you spend much time selecting fitting bricks? You've had a great idea to make the walls' edges have such shapes, it suggests whole building exists. The chimney sticking over all looks very good. I also like the colour of the walls - the combination of bricks are in some places not so perfect (I'd use some plates instead of thick bricks), but let it be. Next fine feature of your MOC is the wheel (I haven't ever imagined it's possible to make such a good-looking octagonal wheel), and the space below - I mean the place where the horse is :P. Is this a treadmill? What I like in your entry are details, which are hard to spot when looking the first time - when I look at your MOC, I discover more and more of them! What is worth improving is the wooden staging, you could make it all SNOT, covering with various brown plates - just like you did around the wheel. I'm not sure if showing MOC in such way, as a comic, is needed here. I miss some more photos of the model, instead of such a quantity of various minifigs' configurations and dialogues. But never mind. Sorry for replying so late, I simply had no time to do it earlier. Good luck!

Well done! I like it mainly because there are 2 levels which are strongly connected. Thanks to the stairs, your model has got unusual features! Plus, there is also a third room at the upper deck, and it's all a ship part! As usually, I like the details the most. For example, the window's idea is awesome, however so simple! The crate full of minifigs' hands - amazing! Varied outside of body of the ship - magnificent! Bird behind Jack - wonderful! Cannon is a miracle! Objects at the bottom deck are also a great way to enrich the model with details. Although I'd maybe change it a bit, the colours are very well selected, and what's also important - there's a lot of action in the scene! Good luck!

BLACK PEARL What I like the most is its prow, but I must say that the stern is also well done. I'm quite impressed by the effect you've achieved by using only 2 colours. HMS ENDAVOUR Its prow is maybe a bit too wide, but I know how difficult accurate building in micro-scale may be, and I love the fish there! I also like the sails and stern. DUTCHMAN First thing I noticed are some details, like the teeth at the prow and a crab. Its colours are also well selected. In all three ships I like the portholes. I'd only maybe move the ships a bit, only 1 stud forward or back, because when standing neatly in row they may look a bit strange. The water is also wel done now, I mean the colour and the waves as well. Good job, good luck!
-
Woooow... First, congratulations on SNOT! It makes your model look exactly like it should look! What I like the most is the roof of the white building. It's fantastic - every single detail is beautiful, not only the shape, but also crooked roof tiles! The DkTan wet sand by the water is also a very good idea. The next fine thing is that you put some objects on the ground. Awesome!

My vessel is magnificent, and fierce, and huge-ish, and…gone. Why is
Toltomeja replied to Lego lover's topic in Pirate MOCs
The idea is very good, especially the title I like it! I think you should add some details, though. Some barrels and crates or chests, and maybe one more boat at the harbour would make it realistic and interesting as well. Remember, how full of life, people and ware the harbours were in the film! I'd also make the water surface more varied, some blue plates will be enough to make it more wavy. The best thing in your MOC is the ship far far away. You've succeeded to make an impression of a huge ship at the horizon. Minifigs? Well, look quite innatural with such an arms pose... The last hint is to replace bottom parts of the columns with 2x2 blue bricks. It's almost no difference, but it may look yet a bit better. Good luck! -
Kraken is excellent, but maybe too regular. You could make these segments a bit different from each other to make it more natural. I love the space below deck with the Kraken's tentacles. Other limbs of the monster are also well done. Pity you couldn't build it using your real bricks, but owning such a great amount of white canine teeth is almost impossible. Good job and good luck in the contest!
-
You've mentioned 1x1 round bicks to be used as eyes. I've checked it during building, and I decided to do it once again now. I can only tell you, that it looks a bit silly - his eyes are not only extremely big then, but also have wrong colour - in few words, pupils are much bigger than whole eye should be.
-
Good job! The main thing I like is that your model has 2 levels. Thanks to this, there are so many details to look at! Plenty of minifigs, every one doing something else, makes it yet more interesting. Plus, I like your photos, especially the lest one - I like the idea of making Will tied up! The floor is also fine, I like holes between the planks in it. All these features make the room look very realistic, and esthetic as well. I agree with Matn, you could improve it by adding some more details. You could also put some 1x1 round tiles in different colours on the floor, to make it yet more varied. Good luck!

The shape of the building is pretty. Certainly the best thing in whole model is the roof - perfect! Inside is well done as well. What I like the most is the man in cauldron and men hiding under the floor. The most innovatory idea, though, is dirty water. That tiny bricks make a fantastic impression of water, or let's maybe call it "dirty liquid", that can be seen in the film. I like the bridge as well, although it's one-coloured - it doesn't make it look worse. I'm only not sure if that vertically placed gray parts around the windows are needed here. It's the only non-almost-SNOT part of the building, so it spoils the SNOT effect a bit. Good luck in the contest!
-
That mini-scale ships are so cute! I love them, and the water is well done as well - I'd only maybe enrich its colour with white round plates a bit, as such big waves in the sea are usually full of foam. Such models always make impression on me, as they are usually full of innovatory ideas for using technic parts and some other tiny bricks - such as minifig hands I also like that the ships are not placed evenly vertically, but leaning towards each other. Why is the stand so big? I think it should be either thin, or maybe more decorative? Try something pirate style, or maybe like this? PHOTO

I didn't want to sound rude - I'm really sorry if someone felt offended. I simply found it hard to write it in English in delicate and masterly way not to insult anyone, but to advice for future what may be done better. I hope my feedback wasn't misunderstood and sorry again!

I like it, but these pieces of watt might be more subtle. Anyway, the ship's overall look is very good. I like the black planks behind the minifig - they imitate destroyed deck very well, and yellow details also look fine. All the planks around the fig though look like if they had already been burnt before, and I see the fig is still alright... Seriously, If I were in your shoes, I'd use some more colours, especially brown here. Yellow and black are also fine, but less realistic. Concerning the fig, I think that the face expression is not appriopriate to the situation of the ship indeed. I think not only should you change Beckett's head, but also put some more motion to the model making his pose dramatic - running or at least raising his hands. Good luck!
-
I like it very much, good job! Your MOC is simply amazing, because of the motion, which can be seen. Plus, considering building style it's also beautiful! The tentacles are absolutely fantastic, and as I said before, they really look like if they were attacking the ship, and the ship was sinking. Is this yellow and black figure a sailor? I must say it's brilliant, even though a bit out of scale and colour. I wouldn't maybe put it there, but that's good that you let us see it! I love it! Love it, love it, love it! Good luck! EDIT: Your first MOC? You mean, your 9th incarnation's first MOC? Or first published MOC?
