DC Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion
lego_guyon02 replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
The big difference is that Marvel sells way better than DC, why do you think all LEGO does is Batman? Batman sells, the other characters do not (or at least to a lesser extent). If the normal DC sets sold better we wouldn't be in the Batman-centric situation we're in now. By hoping for a ton of sets based on the upcoming DC movies you'll probably be setting yourself up for disappointment. With most of these movies we'll be lucky to see even just one set or a comic tie-in. -

Looks incredible, good to see the Para get some more love! Way too soon, the gap between the first trailer and release of Hollywood movies has become a lot smaller since the start of the pandemic. Fantastic Beasts releases in april and only just got a trailer, Doctor Strange releases in may and doesn't have one yet. -

As much as I hate the new system I'd take this. We just really need more FB sets. -

False: - Dumbledore found the Mirror of Erised in the Room of Requirement. - The Room of Requirement once appeared to him as a bathroom when he was bursting for the loo. - The Room of Hidden Things has a considerable amount of items from students, teachers, etc in it. Considering the amount of time in his live spent at Hogwarts it's highly unlikely Dumbledore wouldn't have known about it. -

This new trailer is incredible, it'd be criminal if LEGO just totally skips this film. -

I do actually agree. The one good thing I have to say about these godawful new Hogwarts sets is that they made me realise I'm pretty happy with my Hogwarts as is, though it will sadly never be completed with official products. Seeing LEGO shift their attention to locations that are actually new and desirable would be a good change, granted the sets are actually well designed of course -

Honestly most of Bessa's comments regarding the new system, lack of DH sets, etc are/were just very hard to wrap my head around. Pretty much as soon as you take a minute to actually think about what he just said you'll be able to poke major holes in pretty much every single argument. Agreed on both points. Bessa is a fantastic designer but I'm really glad he's no longer calling the shots when it comes to this theme. The interiors in the new sets are just as bland and uninteresting as the ones from the old sets though, with most interesting details coming from stickers. 1. Getting a new style of Hogwarts sets isn't necessarily the problem here, it's how poorly designed these sets are. 2. Who says those who dislike the new style still buy the sets regardless? I can only speak for myself but spending a considerable amount of money on sets I heavily dislike is about the last thing I'd do. -

I'm much more looking forward to any potential FB set(s) than all these poorly designed Potter sets we've been getting recently. Hopefully LEGO will do something similar to what they did with CoG when they announced the Grindelwald's Escape set right alongside the release of the first trailer. -

The "enter the multiverse" line is for Strange, the one you're talking about is for Thor. -

This new system may be intended to focus more on the inside of the castle but I don't see how anyone could look at these interiors and say with a straight face that these are actual improvements. The Bathroom sink looks disproportionate and the stall isn't well designed either, Fluffy and the Quidditch set both don't even really have an interior to praise/criticize and the Chamber of Secrets set may have the best interior of the '21 wave but at the end of the day it's still nothing more than a handfull of very simple builds and a large stickersheet. The interiors in the 2018-2020 Hogwarts sets often looked like an afterthought, I agree, but the 2021-now interiors really aren't any better or worse. -

I'll be Bricklinking the interesting stuff (Pomfrey, stickers, accessories, things like that) whenever the prices get reasonable but skipping all of these sets. The current state of this theme is just depressing, calling it a "shell of it's former self" doesn't even begin to cover it. The 2019 set perfectly represented the in-universe castle section within the confines of LEGO's system scale. This new version looks like someone took a wall and a tower from some random castle, slapped a clock on the front and called it a day. Take away the Harry Potter logo and minifigures and the average consumer wouldn't even be able to tell it's Hogwarts (nor can I). -

The characters/variants displayed on the aforementioned Love & Thunder poster (with the addition of Gorr) are honestly pretty likely to make up the minifigure lineup for the 2 sets we're getting. I'm thinking maybe: $20 - Thor (1st variant) and Gorr $50 - Thor (2nd variant), Mighty Thor/Jane, Valkyrie, Korg and Gorr Can't wait to see how they do Jane's figure, she definitely needs a new dualmolded piece for her helmet and hair. -

WB has released a Wizarding World celebration video ahead of the first Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore trailer on monday and starting at 1:48 there's some new footage showcasing: - Our very first look at Mads Mikkelsen's Grindelwald (though I did like Depps portrayal Mads definitely looks a million times better from a purely visual pov). - Vinda Rosier is returning. - 2 new magical creatures. - Credence fighting Dumbledore. I'd be ecstatic if we could get a decent amount of sets based on this film, though the chances probably aren't very high. -

If you understand these sets aren't designed for AFOLs then why do you consider them to be terrible? These are 4+ sets based on a tv show for preschoolers, I think these sets are really good for what they are meant to be. -

Hope I'll be able to get a few of Kamala and Liv's new hairpieces but other than that there's nothing here that interests me. These sets are still fantastic for young kids though. -

All LEGO products are tested to some extent because they simply have to be in order to sell them but there's no denying LEGO has really been slacking off on quality control since 2017-18, which considering the bloated prices they charge us for a lot of their products is unacceptable. From pieces that aren't manufactured well to broken minifigures right out of the box, bad (mis)prints, the light-on-a-dark-piece printing, not properly cut out stickers and bad design techniques. These Marvel mechs definitely aren't the first example of LEGO's worsening quality control and definitely won't be the last either. I don't care how much they like using it but it's obvious their "only the best is good enough" motto got discarded years ago. -

Not at all impossible, pretty easy actually. LEGO just needs to make a few new molds and print some feather patterns onto the pieces, easy as that. The question isn't wether or not LEGO can make feathered dinosaurs but if they will make them. -

LAN members received their copies of the sets but we're asked not to review them when the issue was discovered. My guess is some folks in the LAN had already build them prior to the review embargo date, discovered the issue themselves and reported it to LEGO. -

It will supposedly have some feathers sticking out of the back of it's head and a long feathery tail with most of the body also being covered in feathers. -

It's probably an issue with the new technique used to attach the legs to the body, other than that all basic design choices seem to be the same as they were before. -
