Overview of the LEGO Castle Range 1960-2011
Rhodes81 replied to SirSven7's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
i wasn't around for the glory days of old and just barely caught the last stages of fright knights. then there was ninja which was my absolute lego love until the star wars sets started coming out. thanks to the first waves of star wars i didn't pay attention to kingdom 1, which was probably a good thing . then kingdom 2 got me back into castle, i have to admit i actually like it, i guess cause i was 12 at the time the fantasy era was during my dark ages so i managed a grand total of 4 sets i found on clearance, all of them small. and now kingdoms. slowly but sure this will be the series that builds medieval city. -
Think I'm drifting towards becoming an AFOL...

-in terms of collecting, most lego hold most of their value even after they have been opened. i know some collectors leave them sealed but most do just what you want to. -in terms of star wars i don't do much mocing. i leave most of my starwars built the way it is or moding a bit if i don't like the way the set is built but very rarely do i completely dismantle a set to make something completely different (only starwars set i've done that with is the republic gunship). i do hope you'll join us -
i thought it was s-foils, as in stabilizer foils. which really doesn't make sense seeing as there's no air currents in space so wings wouldn't actually do anything but hey what do i know? anyway that would be a really nice function for a ucs.

the side and bottom just look too unfinished for a set that expensive. i think i'll be saving all my money for the republic frigate.

my collection right now is probably 60% star wars and 40% castle, but because most of the castle has been broken down to make my moc it probably looks more like 80% star wars and 20% castle. i also have the queen anne's revenge set from potc but i bought that more to be part of the castle than anything. if i had it my way though i'd have a massive castle moc, a big city, and some kind of big starwars scene.

ah the good ol garrison. you know you're doing something right when you have to build a bridge over a freaking sofa. what i would do to have even a tenth of those parts -
Big medieval landscape: BIG UPDATE on page 26
Rhodes81 replied to maydayartist's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
watching this come together is amazing, and i've learned so much to apply to my own medieval moc (like actually giving a crap about landscaping ). you are a master and i can only hope i get to the point you are at in terms of skill and number of bricks -
don't have the money for this at all, but i think it's a lot better than many of you are making it out to be. i don't really care about the figures, that's not what you buy a set like this for. is it perfect? no, but it's still the best looking set on this scale that lego has ever made.

actually the jade shadow with mara, luke, and ben would make a nice set too. unfortunately i doubt lego will ever make a set with no visual media to reference so it's doubtful they make anything strictly from the books. it's a shame too because there are much more interesting characters and plenty of good ships that could make nice sets

i for one feel the hot series has run it's course. there's enough of it out now that it's easy to make a good moc out of it. the next series of battlepacks should include endor rebels and storrmtroopers. it's disgraceful that we haven't had stormtroopers since the first set of battlepacks. i'd also appreciate a tie bomber or interceptor remake, republic hovertank remake, and if they want to continue having a EU set every few waves a jedi stealth-x with jain solo or chiss clawcraft with jag fel i would love jag and jaina figures so very much

agreed on the guns, if you want anything realistic it seems you have to go through brickarms and and LA, which I have done quite a bit recently. I'd love a new Padme figure, if only because there aren't that many human female minifigs made at this point. All the girls, at least recently, have been humanoids.

sorry to drag a year old thread up but I really, really like this. I've always wondered why TLG doesn't make this set since they love any excuse to slap the same basic body design on a plethora of different propulsion devices and varying amounts of firepower.

yeah I actually have an order coming in hopefully tomorrow that will allow the castle to really start taking a bit of shape. it's supposed to be just one minor gate of a much larger city wall. I've got one tower built and I'm contemplating another possibly built into a wall of rock.

Yeah Lego was pretty much all I played with so I had a ton. it all went to charity though so I'm sure some other kids are cherishing them as much as I did. as for my castle, it still needs a lot of work before it's on par with anything on here. i've got a bad case of giant grey walls right now but I have a change planned to help it a bit. hopefully it'll turn out well and I'll be able to hare some pics.

Hello all. my power was out tonight so I was keeping busy with my laptop and imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon this lovely site. After a little browsing I quickly realized this was the place for me to share my love of Lego. I guess a quick introduction of myself. I live in Atlanta Ga, U.S. and just recently graduated from high school. My major hobbies are Lego (obviously) along with the typical stuff like video games and all that. I play bass (both upright and electric) and read a ton more than most people my age. I'm also a hardcore hockey fan. as far as Lego goes, I started as young as I can remember and at one time had probably about $10,000 worth of Lego. however about 4 years ago I gave most all of it away shortly after entering my dark ages. I just came out of my personal dark ages a few months ago so I don't have a ton. What I do have is a fair sized collection of Star Wars Lego along with a continually changing and expanding castle moc. Unfortunately I don't have nearly as many parts as I used to (to the point that what extras I do have can be kept in a box smaller than a shoebox). I've been mostly using bricklink or the three or four parts sets I've bought to make any mocs or modifications but pretty soon I'll probably just break down and buy a mass lot of parts from ebay. Anyway I look forward to hopefully contributing to the talk around here a bit and possibly sharing some of my collection.
