  1. If you 'sleep post' in the middle of a game, you won't be concentrating on the game. This wouldn't be a problem if you were just posting, but if you were playing the game iI think the effects would be disastrous. Rocks and Shoals is a strategy-based-game. If you were sleep posting and you were tring to move from H1 to G1, you might type something like H1 to I1 and you would be peppered with another broadside.
  2. The QAR's ropes are short sections so even if the minifigures did come alive they wouldn't achieve the effect as in the movie. If you look at older sets like the SES, you will notice that entire lengths of LEGO ropes are used, not just little stretches. But of course this is just a minor technical problem. Anyway, I like how the whole story is connected with dialogues and I love how you make references to the yellow minifigures and the fleshies. I didn't know that Blackbeard's sword was made of rubber. Your description of Blackbeard being fluffy was very amusing. I couldn't help but notice that the Blackbeard minifig seems to be based on the real Blackbeard rather than the Blackbeard in the movie.
  3. That is precisely what I will do. A lot of MOC ships only have broadside cannons. If you have six boats each mounting a ballista like the one on the skeleton ship attack on the front, the enemy ship would need six turns to destroy all of them. You would be able to have 21(6+5+4+3+2+1) firing passes. You would be able to heavily damage, if not destroy the ememy ship. I think rowing should be made a factor of overall speed. Boats would be even faster and deadlier with this advantage. Basically, boats would be used in hit-and-run tactics. If you don't get hit, you won't get sunk. Of course, one 24 pounder on a ship would have more than enough firepower to sink a boat in one hit. Also, I think it's possible to mount a 24-pounder onto a boat. TLG has done it on 6241 (Loot Island) and other sets.
  4. What is the minimum size for a ship?
  5. Black bricks! They will never yellow!
  6. How about ships with less than 6 cannons, like the new Black Pearl?
  7. Black hull pieces! C'mon!
  8. What is CO?
  9. Vasa sank.
  10. Eat the cereal with the worst nutritional value in the world,Cap'n Crunch!

  11. Measuring sail areas

  12. I am sorry to bombard you with questions but how many cannons would a Queen Anne's Revenge have? 3? 4? 8? 12?
  13. Thanks.
  14. Will the game be played online? On another subject, what is the relation of ship size and sail area to speed with the wind?
  15. The game is a promising idea. Perhaps you could post some profiles of sets from LEGO.
  16. 1st IFS (10210) 2nd QAR 3rd SES 4th BSB 5th BB
  17. 'Why is the rum gone?'is closer to the film.
  18. Is there an ammo limit?
  19. Master Gibbs is better I think.
  20. I have a problem with viewing photos from brickshelf. A small red cross appears in the place of the photo. I tried to visit Brickshelf but it wouldn't load!
  21. QAR has blood red sails.
  22. Set a limit to the number of ships in the game. For e.g. one flagship of any type, one brig, two galleons, two schrooners, three sloops, five other ships.
  23. Sorry Classic Pirates but I have to vote for POTC. The ships in POTC look so cool. Look at the QAR, look at the BB. There is a huge difference in the detail of the ships. Even if you compare the BOB or SES (which are both better designed), the QAR is still miles ahead when it comes to looks.
  24. One of the three listed below. Lego isn't making enough ships. HMS ENDEAVOUR / DAUNTLESS $199 Basically a recouloured version of the new imperial flagship with better minifigs (and a higher pricetag). Madame Ching's Junk $79 A nice Chinese Junk with 4 gunports (and 2 cannons) Spanish Galleon $139 Bright coloured. Something like 12XX pieces. With new Spaniard figures.
