That looks amazing, and I'll be ordering one on the 14th September! If it's a fake someone has gone to a lot of effort, as it doesn't seem to be a lifted from any MOCs that I've seen. In addition, if you look at the docking ring, it looks remarkably similar to the fragment that's (briefly) visible in the 15 second teaser. They've balanced the level of greebling and studs perfectly; it will make a stunning centrepiece to my collection. Awesome work LEGO!

That's a mammoth amount of parts, and explains the rumoured RRP This is going to be a serious set, and I can't wait to order one! It will be interesting to see where the extra elements are used (e.g. larger dimensions, additional greebling, partial interior, display frame etc - or combination of them). Personally, I'd be surprised if they've all been used for the greebling but time will tell; even if the majority are small, the weight is going to be very substantial indeed. I'm not sure if the colour choices in the Facebook teaser are some sort of hint; that's a lot of Tan! There's just a chance it could include a partial Docking Bay 94 from Episode IV, although the rumoured selection of minifigures doesn't seem to support that.... It's going to be a lengthy two weeks; I just hope that the website doesn't implode on 14th September!

Hi @cyrax83 and welcome to Eurobricks! Congratulations on your purchase of a 10030, especially if it's a later (all LBG) version! I hope you don't mind but I've merged your thread with this one to keep the forum tidy -
If they've put that much effort into a 15 second video, I get the feeling that the set could be truly exceptional! I was a little disappointed by the first couple of teasers, but the trailer has raised the bar to a new level. I assume LEGO are trying to emulate the scene in Episode V where the Falcon floats away in the garbage left by the Imperial fleet, but it could equally be a stylised asteroid belt. Either way, it's all looking very promising and I genuinely cannot wait to order it on 14th September. After all of the disappointment of 2016, I'm proud to be an AFOL again

@saxman717 - You might find some of the first post of this thread helpful (link) If you've got the time, it will definitely be worth checking the prices on LEGO's pick a brick and replacement websites. Generally, LEGO is often far more expensive for smaller parts (e.g. greebling, technic pins, small plates, bricks etc) but they're frequently cheaper for large plates and Technic beams etc and they have a set price for postage which can be useful if you're ordering large quantities. I'd also recommend choosing smaller - mid-sized Bricklink stores as they'll be generally more competitive than stores with massive inventories. Also, buy within your country wherever possible as postage costs (plus import taxes etc) can quickly spiral upwards! Using a 'Wanted' list is also a great way of searching for potential suppliers, but I'd run a spreadsheet in parallel, especially if you need to make numerous orders. And, if some parts are expensive or rare, look for alternatives; for example a 1x2 plate with stud (3794) has a newer version (15573) but at a fraction of the cost - especially in certain colours.

Please can I remind everyone that this thread is for 2017 Pictures & Rumours, not endless debates about pricing! If you want to discuss that, please use the correct thread (link); I've transferred several recent posts to it. And, please keep comments civil, thanks for your understanding

Thanks for the update @Bricksmarlin - the prints look beautiful, but I agree that they're a bit too colourful! The prints are obviously of a very high quality; I assume that it's expensive? I'm looking forward to seeing the other version; hopefully the slightly darker (matt) image will be perfect for your display. You've got an amazing collection and it deserves all of the attention that you're giving it!

@Darth Hammy - I've merged your thread into this to keep the forum tidy. I'm not totally sure what you're asking, but if it's a list of minifigures Bricklink is a good starting point (link). -
I've been looking at the potential cost in the UK, based on the rumoured $799 price-point, and it must be said that LEGO does have some interesting conversion rates! However, I'd predict that it will be around £600 - £650, based on the current exchange rate (and a quick comparison of the latest Death Star @£409.99/$499.99 US). Yes, that's a lot of money, but I'm sure that some kids will receive one as a gift this Christmas. I guess it shows my age, but I'm amazed by how many top-end smartphones I see these days; it seems to be a different world, financially speaking. However, I've said this before, but the main reason for such a set is to draw attention to the rest of the range; it's bound to create a massive surge of interest if done properly and TLG will make it's money from the 'indirect' sales (e.g. most potential buyers will look at it in the store, and walk out with a more reasonably priced alternative such as the UCS Slave 1, TIE Fighter or even the system-scale 75105). Personally, I can't wait until 1st September, it should be a great day to be an AFOL

@Odyssey2001 - welcome to Eurobricks! I've merged your post with our general Q&A thread to keep the forum tidy; hopefully someone else may be able to advise about your question. -
There seems to be a trend with newer sets to use large quantities of tiny greebling pieces, so they could easily increase the part count by 1,000. In particular, the underside of 10179 was pretty sparse so that would have been a good starting point. There's also lots of areas they can improve; for example the ramp could be fully tiled etc, adding another 50+ parts if done really well. I just hope that they don't compromise it with any pointless 'play' features, such as the awful bridge in 10221. My best guess is that it will include a detailed, partial, interior (e.g. cockpit, corridor, hyperdrive Dejarik table etc) which can be accessed via small removable hull plates...time will tell

Details of the 2017 Advent Calendar are now listed on the Shop @ Home website (link); which has a release date of 1st September. It must be said that's a truly uninspiring line-up and I can't imagine that they'll be any shortages of them this year! It looks like TLG were struggling to find enough 'highlights' to promote it - the last photo shows three blasters!! If it hits 40% off I might pick up a couple, otherwise it's a very easy pass for me....
-
I can't wait to buy this, and will be ordering it as soon as it's available. Actually rumours of this set have been good for my bank-balance (at least in the short-term); I made a deal with myself that I'd buy it immediately, provided that I didn't buy anything else for a bit! I'm planning to build this one straight away, but I'll probably buy another at some point if it ever goes on sale especially if it's got a nice looking box!! Oh, and there's going to be two new sets available to VIPs from 14th September.....hopefully this will be one of them!
-
@bricksmarlin - You're welcome; I'm looking forward to seeing the result I'll keep an eye out for an alternative...... there's some truly stunning images around, you just need to know where to look!

Yet more UCS Falcon-related fuel directly from LEGO's facebook page (link): 'The London Bus comes in a box that is over 20,000 cm³ but something BIGGER is coming... 4.86 times bigger, to be exact!' Credit to Covi on Brickset.

@Stash2Sixx - Thanks for all of the info you've provided this year (especially regarding 75192) - it's been much appreciated After a truly uninspiring range of 'UCS' sets last year TLG seem to have raised the bar for 2017; the Snowspeeder was a brilliant starting point and I really cannot wait to see the next offering! I find it sad that LEGO need to be so secretive due to the actions of Lepin etc, but hopefully that will be resolved in the courts, fingers crossed. It's going to be a long month, but I get the feeling that it's going to be exceptional and worth all of the waiting!
-
Hi therealharbinger, and welcome to Eurobricks! You've done very well if you've managed to source all of the parts for that! It's always a set that I've admired, but I'd not considered Bricklinking one due to the potential rarity/cost of the Sand Green parts. I'm looking forwars to seeing your photos of the finished model. I hope you don't mind but I've re-named the thread so that it reflects the content
-
@brickmarlin - here's a HD image from Hubble although it's only a partial fragment (link) - 69536 x 22230 pixels There's also a wide array of other galaxies in the Hubble archives (link) which might be an option - I'll keep looking for you!
-
Unless the overall size is considerably smaller than the original, I doubt it. 10179 is incredibly heavy and the interior is dominated by the Technic frame which made it almost impossible to add anything else. I'd be surprised if they were willing to risk issues with the overall stability of the model; my guess is that it will include hull plates that can be removed to access small parts of it.
-
Thanks @GryffindorResistance - that's very interesting indeed! It seems quite logical as far as I'm concerned: It should ensure that it's sufficiently different from 10179 to prevent any criticism of 'another re-release' (and appeal to current owners of the original) There could be a degree of 'future-proofing' (e.g. based on the original lifespan of 10179 it's likely to be in production in 2020 to coincide with the 40th Anniversary of Episode V) so there could be another boost to sales which wouldn't be a bad thing from TLG's perspective
-
Interesting @GryffindorResistance - thank you Do you recall what the part count is, or any details about the box art/design/colours/background? (e.g. is it Episode IV, V etc?)
-
@GryffindorResistance - Please can you provide some further details? I've trawled through the usual sites and can't see anything; I assume you're being serious?

@Mamma Mia Bricks - If you're considering this, I'd definately recommend shopping around for potential suppliers as stores with a lot of stock are generally more expensive. It may also be worth using a combination of Bricklink, plus LEGO's ' Pick a Brick' and 'Bricks and Pieces'; generally Bricklink will be cheaper for smaller parts (e.g. technic pins, greebling etc) but often LEGO is better for the larger plates (especially as they have a fixed postage cost, and they tend to get quite heavy when purchased in bulk!). If you haven't used Bricklink that much, I'd be happy to recommend several UK suppliers which I've used - just PM me -
Congratulations @bricksmarlin - that is indeed a highly impressive fleet! And, I love your idea of using an image of the Orion Nebula (M42); although that also includes the 'Running Man' top-left (M43). It's one of my favourites and I've spent many hours trying to capture a decent image of it (link). In keeping with the original Episode V sequence have you considered Andromeda (m31)? Something like this could look rather stunning:
-
I'm quite surprised that BB-8 won't be a UCS set; it's certainly more worthy than Insult on Hoth! It's definitely on my shopping list, but I might wait a bit as it should eventually be available at a decent discount. And, that does mean that the second 2017 UCS 'slot' has yet to be filled, which increases the prospect of a new Falcon a little bit.....
