I can't tell you how much I stared at the end of Jhae's youtube video tour of his falcon trying to see how he made his ramp. He's using what looks like the gear with teeth that curve in one direction connected to a chain, which is interesting. And yeah, the use of a knob was really just personal preference, I don't mind that it sticks out and it's hard to turn if it's buried in the greebling/plates on top. It's also just a little nostalgic, Lego often uses knobs like that to turn things in their Technic sets, so I thought eh why not. You could totally swap out the knob for a gear like Jhae does, it blends in with everything better and is still easy to turn. If you guys end up building this I'd love to know what changes you make, there's a lot of room to adjust how I designed it, especially with how to arrange the top area. The way this design turned out, the axle is actually offset by half a stud coming through the top (you'll see in the LDD file), which actually opens up a lot of possibilities with how you want to accommodate whatever you use to turn the axle. I'm still pondering about the knob I'm using, ideally I'd like that tan round plate to be directly underneath the knob... The LDD file is a super basic model of what I did, I left off basically everything I didn't change. Enjoy! https://www.dropbox.com/s/pvpxpf3vt23qzlz/Ramp Mod.lxf?dl=0

Hey folks! Since I couldn't find a good resource to borrow plans from, I designed a working technic mechanism for the boarding ramp. It was pretty challenging fitting everything in there, but it works very smoothly and I'm happy with it! If anyone would like an LDD file, I could whip one up. As always critiques/improvements are welcome. This is SO IMPRESSIVE!! Thank you for the YouTube video, I love seeing how these things work, very inspiring.

Hi Jamie, thanks for doing this! I downloaded the file for Bag 10 but it looks like it's not all there, I'm only seeing one section instead of both with the quad cannon. Could you have a look?

Anyone seen this video from a while back of someone's built-from-scratch MF MOC? He has this awesome mechanism for the passenger ramp that uses Technic pieces, and I'd love to be able to recreate it. Are there resources online for learning how to design things like this? I don't have the model in front of me but I suspect the legs have to be "too tall" in order to make enough space for the bottom quad cannon. Maybe not. Both cannons lie pretty flat against the ship in the movies.

I don't think the Lego shop lets you link to a specific review, but it's on Page 3 of the reviews (it might move down as more are written? not sure), it's fortunately not that tough to find. https://shop.lego.com/en-US/product/Millennium-Falcon-75192

Thanks for all the work you've done and shown us, your mods have helped me out so much. Especially with the cockpit! Definitely the most challenging area to improve. I actually managed to find that review haha, it actually doesn't look that tricky! The only thing really hidden are the 2 gears underneath the turning knob and outer plate. Maybe try and find some examples from other Technic sets to see how Lego would design it? It's just a matter of finding out what's supporting the yellow axle.

It looks like they don't ship internationally? I tried to enter my shipping address and Germany is the only available option.

You're amazing, THANK YOU. As for what's next, have you done anything with the room containing that drop-down gun? You can make removable panels for that section and do something with it. I posted photos a couple pages back of what I did with that area.
-
Well pardon my asking, but I love your cockpit and would love to give a try in mine. I can't quite see what you've done with the floor, would it be too much trouble to list the pieces or pass along an LDD file?

Hey guys, just wanted to show y'all what I did with the room containing the drop-down turret (the front right I think?) I could only fit 3 pictures into this post so if anyone wants to see a top-down just let me know. Anyway, I was looking at a ship schematic someone posted and thought it would be cool to include some kind of life support system. I also threw together some kind of manual controls panel for the turret with a swivel chair. I borrowed the little workstation from a previous post and put that in here as well. Nice work on the mods everyone!

I can't believe they're selling a plastic stand for 58 pounds, that's nuts...
-
This mod looks so good! Are you able to close the top part of the cockpit enclosure? Or does it have to remain open?
-
Ugh I kinda want that kit for the outside parts...

@Darthmarty Don't feel too bad about the links being broken, a lot of the interior designs may not fit the actual dimensions of the empty space in the ship. I figured a lot out by looking at the pics. The LDD files might still be helpful though, to your point, I hope they get reposted.

Well, considering they didn't even have seats before, still a move in the right direction :D

Hey folks, I think I came up with a nice redesign of the cockpit that looks better and fits with the cone parts. The front of the cockpit is actually not attached, but sits very nicely inside the bottom cone. You can see the photos I took here: https://imgur.com/a/QBkiK And here's the LDD file to check out. One note, LDD is missing one of the pieces, the 2x4 technic piece the holds the 2 rear seats. LDD only has a 2x2, so I had to leave the seats on the side. https://www.dropbox.com/s/zfgsxvik393oa55/New Cockpit UCS MF.lxf?dl=0 Let me know what you think!

Thanks guys, I'll keep that in mind! : )

I'm trying to figure out what to do with the interior sections, I've seen some really cool stuff posted. Does anyone have LDD files for what they did with the interior? I could use some help figuring out what pieces I would need.

You know, this is actually my first time using Brinklink for a mod project so I guess I was just expecting to find everything I needed in one store, which wasn't the case. But it's fine, you're right Light Bluish Grey bricks are pretty abundant. Love the mods btw, they look great!! I just ordered parts for the front panel and the rear engine.

Hey guys, I'm following the mods posted by Lock at http://www.lemonskin.net/io/11310 and it looks like the "light bluish grey" parts aren't as easy to find on Bricklink as simply "light grey" bricks. Is everyone here that is doing a mod using the bluish grey bricks or will the light grey be ok to use instead? What color is the primary grey on the Falcon?
