Oh not at all! It does stick out like a sore thumb, I like it haha :). I'm glad that led you to see more designs, there's SO MUCH good stuff buried in the previous pages.

I like the red, it matches the other red accents on the ship and that particular knob is more of a nostalgia choice since older Technic sets I grew up with use that same knob type.
-
I love the idea! I actually came up with one as well, if you go to page 26 of this thread you can see my design if you're interested, its very similar to yours.

I'm guessing you don't have your MF mounted on a stand, correct? If you can spare the money, I strongly strongly recommend building and mounting the MF on Efferman's stand. The added bonus about that stand I don't think anyone has mentioned is that it makes picking up the Falcon a breeze, you don't have to do the awkward flat-handed lift from underneath, you can literally just grab the frame of the stand and pick the whole thing up and move it where you want.

Most people use Lego Digital Designer for their files, stud.io is another great one as well. People share their files via their own websites or Dropbox

There are tons of different engine mods in this thread with files for download, you just gotta browse some earlier pages

I saw!! seriously great work. I have 0 room left for a servo motor so my cosmetic illusion will have to be good enough.

Got some updates for mine, I finished my redesign of the ramp: Ramp Mod by Travis Halachis, on Flickr The main objective was to make 2 sets of ramp arms, the ones at the interior aren't actually connected to anything, only the ramp. You can't see that they aren't attached no matter how much you lower the ramp, so the illusion is preserved I suppose. I kinda went with my own design on the floor of the ramp, I think it turned out pretty good. After much frustration and metaphorical sweat I managed to install the dilating top hatch that @ekrangnes designed (thanks again for taking the time to post the instructions!!). I've basically tried to adapt it as much as possible to the original ship design, but I couldn't quite manage to get a minifigure to both fit inside the ship with closed hatch and stick out of the top with open hatch. There simply isn't enough space for the lift to rise and lower as much as needed. I actually had to make several tweaks to the elevator in order to get it to fit in that section of the ship between the 2 black brackets, that was an unexpected challenge that took a lot of time to figure out. I saw that @ekrangnes redesigned the whole top area of that section of ship (and possibly more?), so I bet that has a lot to do with getting the minifigure to clear the top of the hatch. Anyway, still an amazing addition, I still need to finish out the greebling on top but here's what I got! This is really cool, thanks for the videos showing how it's done. I don't thing I have any room left in mine for a Lego motor haha, the lights are such a nice touch!

I don't believe it's possible, since at the very least you have to remove large plate pieces from the original non-removable panels and use multiple smaller plates in order to create a break so a small panel piece can come off.
-
Yep, this is the one I saw. Admittedly I'm a little less dazzled now that I know how yours works.
-
Thanks a million, I really appreciate the update! I have to ask, did you design that whole thing yourself?? It's so clever and intricate, just incredible.
-
I seriously wish I could buy you a beer right now, this is so great. But this doesn't demonstrate how the "lift" part works, right? Just the hatch itself.
-
I made a ramp-lowering mechanism, it's on page 26 if you're interested in checking it out. I've seen a mod with the knob that opens the top hatch (probably the same mod you're referring to), I'm DYING to know how that was designed, it's pretty brilliant.

Hi All, I recently came across this incredible piano MOC that LEGO picked up to produce and among all of its dazzling features is an adjustable bench. I'm trying to learn as many building techniques as I can but I cannot figure out how this is done. Can anyone explain? Link below:

Fair enough! LDD has always been a frustrating mess for me haha. The way pieces are categorized is almost nonsense, Stud.io is super close to how Bricklink categorizes, so it just feels easier. It's great that Stud.io can import LDD, that's been a lifesaver more than once.
-
For what it's worth, everyone should use Stud.io, it's so so much better than LDD.
-
Very clever!!! Thank you for all the detail you provided on this.

Just wanted to chime in, the interior you made is BEAUTIFUL, especially the cockpit. Did you thread lever sticks through a grille piece at the front of the controls? That's what it looks like. So well done. Capture by Travis Halachis, on Flickr

Yeah, this is the most current one as far as I know. I'm still working on modding mine!

Finally have an addition to our growing collection of light-up engines, here's mine. The LEDs I ordered don't have a remote, so the only on/off is directly on the battery pack. I thought that was going to be a serious issue but as luck would have it the battery pack fits snugly and perfectly into the side compartment next to the engine, pretty stoked about that!! To make things easy I took out one of the triangle plates underneath where the switch on the box is, so now I can just reach underneath the falcon and flip on the lights. That Buzzer design is so impressive!! I'd love to see it for real

Hey all, just thought I'd share my new engine mod, it's pretty similar to some of the others posted already, especially the one designed by @ClassicLook. I wanted to minimize the use of grey plates, so I basically used trans-clear bricks and trans-light blue slopes with tiles where the grey bars are. I still need to order an LED for it, but it should light up just fine. IMG-1374 by Travis Halachis, on Flickr IMG-1376 by Travis Halachis, on Flickr Also, not pictured but I installed the gear system for turning the drop-down gun, thanks for that @Kirton Bricks. Question for you, what did you do about the triangular section pictured below that fits on top of everything? The yellow axle won't fit into the technic beam any longer with all the other technic parts running through. Hope that makes sense! IMG-1377 by Travis Halachis, on Flickr

It looks so good lit up! May I ask what LED strip you used for this?

My bad, link should be fixed now!! This is a nice looking ramp, I have to say. I went back to movie clips and only now noticed that there are 2 pairs of lowering arms for the ramp rather than just the 1 pair Lego designed, now I have to decide if I want to go to the trouble of figuring that out haha.
