  1. I haven't bought a new LEGO set since the AROCS, which was already 4 years ago. I've always felt there was something lacking with newer sets but I can't find anything wrong with this Batmobile. It's the first time I'm buying it on the day it gets released and I honestly can't wait for it to arrive.
  2. All reasons for criticism you mention are as valid as your opinion as to why you like or don't like it. However, the difference seems to be that those who critisize it aren't trying to come up with reasons why others should feel the same way, yet you seem to insist others have no business complaining because it's not done by your standards? I'm not trying to come up with reasons as to why you shouldn't like it, am I? I don't collect Creator cars. I collect LEGO cars. If I like it enough, I'll buy one. If I don't like it, I won't buy it. I've bought 5 LEGO technic trucks. I don't like the others enough to buy them and don't care for either the value of a set later on or having all sets of a certain line. I didn't like the Beetle, thus I didn't buy it. I also don't really think LEGO will stop making these models because the internet complains. In the end sales will matter most to them because that's what justifies another set in the series. But yeah, I appreciate the effort of LEGO doing another car. The effort is wasted in my book, because it doesn't look what they were going for, which is an Aston Martin DB5. My expectations weren't as excruatiatingly high as some of you make it look like. All I expected was a DB5 as good as the other car models. It isn't. If it is to you, go on and buy one. I won't understand why, but I won't spend my time trying to convince you why you shouldn't.
  3. No, he wouldn't. :) I am a massive fan of the Ferrari F40. It's been my ultimate dream car from the moment I saw it when I was 5 years old. I'm in my thirties now and I've had the posters, the toy cars, then later the scale models, I've drawn the car many times and then saw a LEGO rendition which was close to spot on. Sure, it's not 100% perfect, but it doesn't have to be because you can't mistake it for any other car. It doesn't look like a knock-off, it looks like an F40. You're saying this model captures the overall look of a DB5, but this is the problem really, because it doesn't. This DB5 could be anything, really. It's got the looks of a Trabant, bits and pieces of a Jensen Interceptor, glimpses of Lada here and there and if you squint real hard you might just see a DB5 in it. I get how they can't recreate all the curves, but this model doesn't recreate any curve. It lacks the character the original DB5 has. I mean no offense, but I've a feeling you're trying to speak for a group of people which clearly have a different opinion than the one you're going for. You're saying car fanatics would probably think the other models look poor as well, but the reason the other models are so well received is exactly because they capture the feel of a design quite well. I am a car fanatic, pretty much the only sets I still buy are the cars and trucks. I follow the blogs. There's not a blog or website out there which has positive reactions to this car. The car fanatics think it suck, and those are the same people who thought the F40 and Mini looked fantastic. Even my mom thought the VW camper was a fantastic buy, and she thinks buying LEGO is a waste of money when you're grown up. :) Again, I get it, it's LEGO, but the same criteria count for a Caterham, an F40, a Mini, a VW Camper and a London Bus. They got it right with all those models, and with this one they clearly didn't. In the end, the final model just doesnt't look good. LEGO's been making so many cars lately yet the last time they got it right was the Caterham. The Porsche, the Chiron, the Beetle and now this. I've no idea what's gotten into them but its made me stop buying the new sets.
  4. I disagree. The F40 was very good. The VW camper also instantly looks like a VW camper. Same with the Caterham. Then there was the London bus, which also looked like a London bus. The Beetle was the first car of which I wondered if I wasn't making a 2CV instead. For whatever reason, the LEGO cars have been going downhill the last few years.
  5. What you're saying is how cooking the meal is so much fun so people shouldn't act spoiled when it tastes poor because you put so much effort into preparing it. Surely a built is only dynamite if the result pays off? I enjoy building, but in the end the LEGO cars I own are on display. I bought the other cars because they're so good looking. This one just doesn't look good.
  6. I think this car will ultimately split the LEGO fanatics collecting cars and the car fanatics collecting LEGO, if you can't my drift? The LEGO fanatics will care for the gadgets, the car fanatics will care for the looks. I do think this is aimed at car fanatics though, which is why its so mind-boggling to me how they believe these looks will win any of them over.
  7. I rarely post but I've got to say I'm very disappointed with the DB5. I'm a car fanatic and love every car they've done apart from the Beetle because that one doesn't really resemble the real Beetle curves. The DB5 however looks a bit like a clown car. Build the F40 in yellow and you've still got an F40. Build the mini in blue and you've still got a mini. Build the DB5 in another colour and no one's got any idea what car it is. I honestly can't believe they're releasing this. I'm sure the curves are difficult to reproduce but then again, pick another car to do. There's plenty of other famous boxy cars out there that'll get people's attention. Kitt, A-team van, General Lee... This one is an absolute miss for me. Oh yeah, and I don't get all the nonsense from people attacking others because they're voicing their criticism. I've got no idea how anyone could like this set but if you do I won't attack you for it either.
  8. D'oh! I can't believe I didn't think of that one! Thank you!
  9. Thanks. :) I didn't try to embed an image, I just put a link to an image on Peeron. It's from the idea book 250, page 44. Here's a small picture of it.
  10. Hello everyone, About every year I buy a few sets, either old or new. I am by no means an experienced builder, but know how to connect things here and there. Recently I rediscovered Stud.io so I decided to give a few things a go again. One thing that always bothered me was how I could never figure out how the wheel on this sawmill was build. I know how to connect the saw to the wheel, but just can't figure out how those things are connected to the 2 wheels on the side of the building. If anyone could help me out, please do, it's been bothering me ever since I was a child. :) Many thanks! Sebastiaan
